Ambala/Chandigarh, (India): Four persons, including two policemen, were killed after a speeding truck from behind hit them on the National Highway-44 in Ambala on Saturday morning.
The deceased were identified as ASI Nasib Singh, Constable Balvinder Singh, Manish and Pradeep, both of Yamunanagar.
Reports said that Manish and Pradeep were on their way towards Ambala City when their car collided with a Canter. Following a complaint in the control room, a team of 112 reached the spot to solve the case. Meanwhile, a speeding truck from behind hit four victims. While Nasib, Manish and Pradeep died on the spot, Balvinder was succumbed to his injuries in a private hospital. The bodies were shifted to the Civil Hospital, Ambala City.
The accused truck driver fled from the spot.
IGP Bharti Arora and SSP Hamid Akhtar reached the Civil Hospital. Later, Home Minister Anil Vij also visited the hospital to meet the kin of victims.
Meanwhile, Director General of Police (DGP) Manoj Yadava has expressed grief over the sad demise of two police personnel of Haryana 112 service in a road accident in Ambala district.
In a condolence message here, the DGP expressed his heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family members and prayed to the Almighty to give them courage to bear this irreparable loss. He also prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls.
After receiving the information, Mr Yadava himself reached Ambala and went to the spot where he took information about the entire incident from the district Superintendent of Police. He also reviewed the Emergency Response Support System.
He said financial assistance as per the policy will be provided to the next-of-kin of the deceased policemen.
