Rajeev Ravi’s ambitious movie ‘Thuramukham’ featuring Nivin Pauly in the lead, is finally heading to the theatres!
Nivin Pauly took to his social media handle to announce the release date. The makers have slated the film for release on January 20, 2022. The film has been on hold for over a year due to the pandemic. The team had earlier planned for a Christmas release, on December 24, 2021, however, they have pushed the release further.
“People’s voice cannot be silenced! The rebellion is set to begin. Thuramukham, releasing on January 20, 2022 in theatres near you,” Nivin Pauly said, sharing a glimpse from the film.
Helmed by Rajeev Ravi, ‘Thuramukham’ is based on the ‘Chappa’ system, a primitive ‘work guarantee’ scheme practiced in Cochin harbour during the 1950s. According to the system, copper coins known as ‘Chappa’ would be thrown at the workers waiting for a job, and whoever manages to get one would be hired for a day’s job. The makers had earlier launched a couple of posters, and teaser, leaving the audience anticipating more. Scripted by Gopan Chidambaram, the visuals are captured by Rajeev Ravi himself.
One of the prominent cinematographers in India, Rajeev Ravi has also bagged the National Film Award for Best cinematography for his work in ‘Liar’s Dice’, a film helmed by Geetu Mohandas.
Rajeev Ravi has previously delivered exceptional films like ‘Annayum Rasoolum’ and ‘Kammatti Paadam’ and hence the expectations from ‘Thuramukham’, which is said to be his ambitious project as well, is high.
