Samantha Ruth Prabhu: ‘I Thought With My Separation With Naga Chaitanya, I Would Die’

Earlier in October this year, Samantha and Naga Chaitanya officially announced their separation, after there was months of speculation in the media, that all is not well between the couple. The talented actress, who was last seen in Tamil in ‘Super Deluxe’, recently opened up about her ongoing divorce with Naga Chaitanya.

Samantha revealed that she thought she would crumble and die when her relationship with Naga Chaitanya ended. The actress also added that she thought she was a much weaker person and was surprised to see how strong she was.

In a recent interview, Samantha said, “I still have to live my life’. I know I’m still going to live my life and with all the issues that I now faced in my personal life, I was surprised at how strong I was. I thought I was a much weaker person. I am actually surprised at how strong I’m. I thought with my separation, I would crumble and die. I did not think I was capable of being this strong. Today I’m very very proud of how strong I’m because I really didn’t know I was.”

Samantha and Chaitanya had met each other on the sets of the film Ye Maaya Chesaave (Vinnaithaandi Vauvaaya in Tamil), and had fallen in love later. They got engaged in January 2017, and got married in a glitzy wedding, in Goa, in October that year. Rumours of a rift between the couple began in July 2021, when Samantha dropped Akkineni, Chay’s family name, from her handles on social media. While the two handles chose to maintain silence over their relationship status during interactions with the media since then, they have now chosen to announce their separation. However, they have not given any reason for their decision.

On the work front, while Samantha has started shooting for her Tamil-Telugu bilingual ‘Yashoda’, she is awaiting the release of director Vignesh Shivan’s ‘Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal’ also starring Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara in the lead. She also had ‘Shakuntalam’, an international film to be helmed by Downton Abbey’s director Philp John.
