Addressing a news conference in Karachi, the former captain of the Pakistan football team, Isa Khan, said that the Pakistan football team can qualify for the FIFA World Cup if the previous traditions are broken and players are selected on merit.
Talking to Geo News, the former football captain said the Pakistan football team deserves to be in a mega event. He believes that if Pakistan does not participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, then Pakistan 2030. It will be a part of the FIFA World Cup in 2026.
The number of teams participating in the FIFA World Cup in 2026 will increase to 48, giving the Pakistan football team a better chance to qualify for this event. Essa Khan played 36 matches for Pakistan, in which he scored 11 goals.
He further said that it was not a good decision by the Pakistan Football Federation to play a friendly game with Nepal, which caused heartbreak for the local players.
