The nomination list for the 16th Asian Film Awards was released on January 6. The award rite will be hung on March 12 in Hong Kong. In a top-notch feat for India, Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan 1 was in various nominations in six classes, including the best movie!

Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan 1 has been nominated in six classes – Best Film, Sreekar Prasad for Best Editing, Ravi Varman for Best Cinematography, A.R Rahman for Best Original Music, Eka Lakhani for Best Costume Design and Thota Tharani for Best Production Design.

Meanwhile, SS Rajamouli’s RRR has been nominated for Srinivas Mohan for Best Visual Effects and Ashwin Rajashekar for Best Sound.
After garnering numerous US awards, and being shortlisted within the Best Original Song class for Oscars 2023, RRR also made it to the BAFTA 2023 longlist inside the Film Not within the English Language category.
