Well-known lyricist Pulamaipithan alias Ramasamy, who has written several chartbusters in Tamil cinema, passed away earlier today. The veteran lyricist has penned songs for top stars like MGR, Sivaji Ganesan, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. He had earlier been admitted in hospital last week, due to ill health.
He was on life support and his condition was being monitored by a team of experts from Fortis Malar Hospital, but the Pulamaipithan breathed his last at 9.30 in the morning today. The 85 year old lyricist, who was also the Former Deputy Chairman of Member of Legislative Council.
The lyricist has been writing songs for Kollywood movies since the early days of MGR. One of his most popular song is ‘Naan Yaar Nee Yaar’ from MGR’s hit flick ‘Kudiyirundha Koil’. Most recently, he had penned the lyrics for the song ‘Thaaimai’ sung by Bombay Jayashri in Thalapathy Vijay starrer ‘Theri’ directed by Atlee.
