LG accords approval for Rs 18.53 cr towards grants

Puducherry, Aug 2: .Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan on Monday accorded approval for Rs.18.53 crore towards grants of various scholarship/financial assistance, stipend, incentives under various schemes to the eligible SC/ST students and their parents, in Puducherry and Yanam regions for the year 2021-22.

According to a release from the Raj Nivas, she also accorded approval for issue of No Objection Certificate (NOC) to Mahatma Gandhi Post graduate Institute of Dental Sciences, Puducherry to seek approval of Dental Council of India to increase the seats from the existing level of 40 to 100 in BDS course for the academic year 2022-23.

Dr Soundararajan approved Rs.1.18 crore to be paid as grants-in-aid to Puducherry State Skill Development Mission under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of “Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 3.0 in the Union Territory of Puducherry for the year 2021-22.

The Lt.Governor also approved to the proposal of the Department of Civil Supplies for production of alternate documents such as Bank or Post office passbook with photo or PAN card or Passport or ration card or voter identity card or MGNREGA card or Kisan photo passbook or driving licence by persons who do not possess the Aadhar card and till the time Aadhaar is assigned to the individual.

The alternate documents should be produced to avail benefits under the schemes of that department such as distribution of Sugar during Deepavali/Onam festival at free of cost to all the Ration Card Holders of Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe & Yanam regions, the Puducherry Free supply of rice, edible oil & other essential food grains every month to all the Ration Card Holders, Food subsidy under National Food Security Act, 2013 and distribution of Festival items at free of cost to all BPL/AAY Ration Card Holders of the UT of Puducherry.
