Kanwar Grewal’s ‘Rihai’ Taken Down By YouTube

New Delhi [India]: After the controversy over Sidhu Moosewala’s last melody ‘SYL’ being taken down by YouTube, one more Punjabi tune to face a ban on the video streaming platform is ‘Rihai,’ which requires the arrival of Sikh detainees, sung by immensely well known vocalist Kanwar Grewal.

The tune uploaded six days prior presently shows ‘inaccessible’ on YouTube. The assertion peruses, “This content is not available on this country domain due to a legal complaint from the government.”

Responding to the turn of events, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal requested that the Center renounce the restriction on Grewal’s tune.

“Shiromani Akali Dal appeals to GOI to lift the ban on Kanwar Grewal’s song – #Rihai keeping in view citizens’ right to freedom of speech & expression as well as sentiments of the Sikh community,” said Sukhbir Singh Badal.

“Such bans are not in the interest of a healthy democracy,” he added.

He further said that the prohibition on Grewal’s tune ‘Rihai’ has come not long after the restriction on the post mortem melody ‘SYL’ by Sidhu Moosewala, the title alluding to the Sutlej-Yamuna Link canal.

The tune ‘SYL’ depended on Punjab’s water issue and discussed the Sutlej-Yamuna Link canal, which has been an apple of disagreement among Punjab and Haryana for a seriously lengthy timespan.

The SAD president promised to take up the issue in the impending Parliament meeting.

“We will also demand a broader discussion on this issue to ensure corrective steps be taken and this trend is stopped,” Sukhbir Badal further added.
