New Delhi: The Government of India on Tuesday gave Esports a major boost by incorporating it with mainline sports disciplines in the country.
The Head of state of India, Droupadi Murmu, in exercise of the powers “conferred by condition (3) of write-up 77 of the Constitution” changed the rules regulating Esports and also asked the Ministry of Electronics as well as Information Technology as well as the Sports Ministry to include “e-Sports as part of multi-sports occasions”.
There had been a growing need for Esports to be included in the curriculum of multi-discipline occasions after it was included in the 2018 Jakarta Asian Gamings as a demo sport, suggesting medals won in the sporting activity were not counted in the main overall medals tally.
