Ajith Kumar’s ‘Thunivu’ Earns ₹23 Crore, Beats Vijay’s ‘Varisu’: Day 1 Collection

The Tamil industry undoubtedly witnessed one of the biggest box office clashes on Wednesday as Vijay’s Varisu and Ajith Kumar-starrer Thunivu released the same day before the Pongal competition. Despite the neck-to-neck opposition at the price ticket window, each film managed to check in a stable opening at the Tamil Nadu box office. As in step with trade resources, both the movies gathered a cumulative gross of ₹ 42.5 crore on a primary day.

After an opening of 9 years, films of each Ajith and Vijay were released on the same day. Box workplace tracking portal Andhra Box Office took to Twitter to share the outlet day numbers of Varisu and Thunivu. As per their tweet, Ajith’s Thunivu had a slightly higher hand at the box office as it grossed ₹23 crore on a primary day. Varisu, on the other hand, gathered ₹19.5 crore.
