With 12,514 new COVID-19 cases, India’s active caseload stands at1,58,817, lowest in 248 days

New Delhi [India] : India has reported 12,514 new COVID-19 cases and 251 deaths in the last 24 hours, informed the Union Health Ministry on Monday.
Of these, Kerala reported 7,167 new cases and 167 deaths. As per the COVID-19 update issued by the ministry, India’s active caseload stands at 1,58,817, which is the lowest in 248 days. The active cases account for less than 1 per cent of total cases and are currently at 0.46 per cent, the lowest since March 2020.
With 12,718 recoveries reported in the last 24 hours, the total recoveries mounted to 3,36,68,560. The recovery rate is presently at 98.20 per cent.
India’s death toll is 4,58,437.
The daily positivity rate is 1.42 per cent, which is less than 2 per cent for last 28 days. The weekly positivity rate is 1.17 per cent. It has remained below 2 per cent for last 38 days.
So far, 60.92 crore tests have been conducted to detect the presence of the virus in the population.
Meanwhile, in the ongoing nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive, the cumulative coverage crossed 106.31 crores. A total of 1,06,31,24,205 vaccine doses have been administered so far. The vaccination drive in the country commenced on January 16 this year.
As per the ministry, more than 112 crore (1,12,93,57,545) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through the Government of India (free of cost channel) and through the direct state procurement category.
“More than 13 crore (13,45,61,536) balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered,” the ministry said.

Mumbai reports 315 fresh COVID-19 cases in past 24 hours

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India]: Mumbai has reported 315 fresh COVID-19 infections and 429 recoveries in the past 24 hours, said Mumbai mayor Kishori Pednekar said on Monday.
Addressing a press conference in Mumbai today, Pednekar said, “315 new infections, 429 recoveries were reported in Mumbai in the last 24 hours. The number of active cases in the city is 3,849.” Meanwhile, India has reported 12,514 new COVID-19 cases and 251 deaths in the last 24 hours, informed the Union Health Ministry on Monday.
The country’s active caseload stands at 1,58,817 and a total of 1,06,31,24,205 vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive.

Delhi reports 531 new dengue cases in last week, 6 deaths this year

New Delhi [India] : Delhi has reported 531 new dengue cases in the last week, informed South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC).
The civic body further informed that six people have died due to vector-borne disease this year. As per an official statement from SDMC, 1,537 cases have been reported this year.
Meanwhile, amid a rampant surge in cases, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya chaired a review meeting today on the dengue situation across the country.
As per sources, the Union Ministry of Health will constitute an expert team to monitor rising dengue cases in the national capital. They also informed that awareness campaigns will be held in schools and speed testing for the vector-borne disease will also be done in Delhi.
Amid a surge in dengue cases, private hospitals in the national capital are either increasing the number of beds or cancelling the planned surgeries in order to accommodate dengue patients.
With the rising number of dengue cases, breaching the 1,000-mark in recent days, the government and the private hospitals across Delhi have ramped up the beds and other medical facilities. As the COVID-19 cases subsided in Delhi, the rising of cases of Dengue has been a headache for the healthcare workers.
Dengue cases in the national capital have seen an unprecedented spurt with cases crossing a thousand mark in which more than 650 cases are being recorded in the month of October alone.
The vector-borne disease has claimed its first death in the month of September in Delhi where a 35-year-old woman died.
According to a recent civic report from SDMC, 1,006 cases of Dengue have been reported in Delhi while 154 cases of malaria and 73 cases of Chikungunya have been reported in Delhi.
