PM Modi greets people of Jharkhand on Statehood Day

New Delhi [India]: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday wished the citizens of Jharkhand on their Statehood Day.“Wishing all the residents of Jharkhand a very Happy Statehood Day. This land of Birsa Munda, which has a historical identity with its unique culture, should move forward in the journey of development,” said PM Modi in a tweet. Jharkhand was carved out of Bihar on the birth anniversary of 19th-century freedom fighter and tribal leader Birsa Munda on November 15, 2000.

Amit Shah says J-K statehood will be restored after delimitation, assembly polls

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India]: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said that the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir will be restored after delimitation of constituencies and assembly elections.Shah, who is on a three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, was interacting with members of Jammu and Kashmir’s youth clubs on Saturday. “Why should the delimitation be stopped? It is because that will harm political interests. Now nothing will stop in Kashmir. Delimitation will happen, followed by elections and then restoration of statehood so that the youth of Kashmir get opportunities. I had said that in the parliament also. And, this is the roadmap. No meaning of delimitation process until full statehood of J&K restored, Cong

Srinagar: Demanding full statehood for Jammu and Kashmir as a part of Union of India, the Congress said on Tuesday that initiation of political and democratic dialogue must begin with restoration of civil liberties of political parties and people. A delegation of the Congress on Tuesday evening met Delimitation Commission headed by Justice (retd) Ranjana Prakash Desai and presented a memorandum. The Congress memorandum said that in the All-Party Meeting (APM) presided over by Prime Minister and attended by Home Minister on June 24 in New Delhi had assured of adopting a transparent method by the Delimitation Commission right from the State level to the Constituency level.
