After Three Weeks In Jail, Aryan Khan Is A Free Man Now

The Bombay High Court today granted bail to Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan in the drugs-on-cruise case. The star son was represented by Mukul Rohatgi, the former Attorney General of India (AGI). He was the lead counsel along with Satish Maneshinde and senior counsel Amit Desai was also present in court for the hearing before Justice Nitin Sambre. Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha were also granted bail. Aryan was arrested on October 3 and he has got bail on the 25th day after arrest. The judge has kept the detailed bail order for tomorrow, so Aryan Khan will not walk out of jail today.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had opposed Aryan Khan’s bail plea, alleging that the 23-year-old was not just a consumer of drugs, but also involved in illicit drug trafficking and was in conscious possession of contraband. ASG Anil Singh stated in court, “My contention is he was found in possession. He was connected with drug peddlers. It was a commercial quantity. Hence we invoked 28 and 29. It was only 4 hours and they were aware of the grounds so it cannot be an illegal arrest. Conspiracy is difficult to prove. Only the conspirator knows how they conspired. I will leave to the conscience of the court.”

While Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi argued on Aryan Khan’s behalf and stated, “I knew only Arbaaz, I did not know anyone else. It is true it is difficult to prove that there is common meeting of mind. But facts cannot be ignored. There has to be meeting of minds. There may be conscious possession of 6 gms, but how do you prove the other recovered substance?”

NCB also claimed that Aryan Khan and a woman named Pooja Dadlani, Shah Rukh Khan’s manager, were tampering with the evidence and witnesses in the case in an attempt to derail the investigation.

“The role of this applicant (Aryan Khan) in the commission of grave and serious offences under the NDPS Act including illicit drug trafficking is apparent considering the nexus and connection of this applicant with the other accused in the case,” the NCB had stated in its affidavit. While Aryan Khan’s bail plea stated that he had bene ‘falsely implicated’ in the matter, which the NCB denied. The investigating agency alleged that the material available so far in the on going investigation prima facie discloses that the applicant is guilty of the offences to attract the rigors of Section 37 of the NDPS Act (which makes getting bail tough).

Previously, Aryan’s lawyers had argued in court that he was not found to be in possession of any contraband and was attending the party as a VVIP invitee. Recently, Aryan Khan’s team of advocates submitted a note to the HC, stating that they had nothing to do with the allegations and counter allegations that were being circulated between the NCB’s zonal director Sameer Wankhede and certain political personalities. They also clarified that Aryan Khan had no connection with Prabhakar Sail, an independent witness in the case, who has made allegations of extortion attempt against NCB’s Zonal director Sameer Wankhede and others.

Aryan Khan was arrested on October 3 along with seven others after NCB raided a drugs bust on a luxury cruise. The star son is currently lodged at the Arthur Road jail and his custody has been extended till October 30.

The Narcotics Control Bureau raided a cruise liner on Saturday evening and has detained eight people in the ongoing investigation. The investigating agency has released names of those being probed and the most prominent one among them is Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan. Munmun Dhamecha, Nupur Sarika, Ismeet Singh, Mohak Jaswal, Vikrant Chhoker, Gomit Chopra and Arbaaz Merchant have also been named by the NCB in the matter.

According to NCB sources, the statement of the detainees will be recorded and they will be presented before the holiday court on Sunday. The investigating agency has recovered drugs like cocaine, charas, Mephedrone and Ecstasy from the cruise party.

According to IANS, the NCB officials had received a tip-off about a rave party that was being planned aboard a cruise ship bound on a Mumbai-Goa voyage. To avoid detection, the NCB sleuths reportedly booked themselves on that cruise as ordinary passengers and soon found some of their co-passengers consuming drugs. The sailed cruise was ordered to turn back and return to Ballard Pier where all the passengers were offloaded along with baggage and they reportedly spend the night at the NCB office.

Further action will continue on basis of inputs from detained people: NCB Chief Pradhan

After the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) busted a rave party onboard a cruise ship off the coast of Mumbai and detained eight people including a Bollywood superstar’s son Aryaan Khan, NCB Chief S N Pradhan said that further action will be taken based on whatever inputs are received from these people. While speaking to ANI, the NCB Chief said that these are detentions and not arrests, which have been shared in the public domain and action will be taken continuously. Action will be taken based on inputs received from these people, he said.
Regarding the action taken at the rave party, Pradhan told ANI, “The proceedings were already taking place. We are constantly gathering intelligence. We took action once the inputs that we received were confirmed.”
“Action was taken only after the input was confirmed. When we received input that drugs are being carried and are going to be used, then we conducted raids,” he added.
When ANI ask the NCB Chief about the involvement of a filmstar’s son, he said, “It is not the job of NCB to find out from which industry and who are joining. Who is the son of an industrialist, who is the son of a film star, this is not our work. Our job is to take action on an equal scale and we are taking action on the same scale and this action will continue in the future also. Whoever is found involved in this network, irrespective of the industry they belong to, we will take action.”
The NCB Chief told ANI, “Wherever information is received, action will be taken and it does not matter with whom there is a connection. Our aim is a drug-free India.”
“Whether there is a party in the hotel or in residential area, input had come and action has been taken. This is not a new thing. Be it Mumbai or another urban area, action will be taken because youth should not come under the influence of drugs. For this action has been taken,” Pradhan said.

Birth Certificate Of Nusrat Jahan’s Son Reveals Father’s Name As Yash Dasgupta

The birth certificate of Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Nusrat Jahan’s son mentions her rumoured partner, Bengali actor Debashish Dasgupta, also known as Yash Dasgupta, as the father of the newborn.

The certificate by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation of Yishaan J Dasgupta, who was born on August 26 this year, lists Yash as the father and Nusrat as the mother. Actor-turned-politician Nusrat had given birth to her son at a private hospital in Kolkata, where Yash was reportedly present. To get more clarity regarding the birth certificate of Yishaan, ANI reached out to Yash’s manager. However, the manager said that Yash does not want to comment on it, while Nusrat’s phone has been constantly switched off till the filing of the news story.

Nusrat has been with her rumoured boyfriend Yash since her pregnancy. For the unversed, Yash is also a politician and had joined the BJP ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections earlier this year.

Before being in a rumoured relationship with Yash, Nusrat was married to businessman Nikhil Jain.

However, in June this year, Nusrat had issued a statement, revealing that her relationship with Nikhil was more of a live-in as they got married in Turkey as per Turkish marriage regulations, which are not valid in India.

“Being in a foreign land, as per Turkish Marriage Regulation, the ceremony is invalid. Moreover, since it was an inter-faith marriage, it requires validation under the Special Marriage Act in India, which did not happen. As per the court of law, it is not a marriage, but a relationship or a live-in relationship. Thus, the question of divorce does not arise,” she had stated.

Nusrat also said that the alleged marriage is not legal, valid, and tenable and thus, was not a marriage at all in the eyes of the law. The actor-turned-politician went on to say that her visit to any place, for business or for the purpose of leisure, should not concern anyone from whom she has separated.

Later, BJP MP Sanghmitra Maurya had written to the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in this regard and demanded that the matter be referred to the Ethics Committee for a detailed “investigation for her illegal and ethical conduct” and appropriate action taken against the Trinamool Congress MP as Nusrat after securing Lok Sabha seat from West Bengal’s Basirhat had taken oath in Parliament calling herself as “Nusrat Jahan Ruhi Jain”.

Nusrat Jahan is a renowned Bengali actor and model. She made her acting debut opposite Jeet in the 2011 Bengali remake of the Tamil action film ‘Singam’ titled ‘Shotru’ and since then she never looked back. With her versatile performances in films like ‘Khoka 420’ ‘Khiladi’, ‘Sondhe Namar Agey’, ‘Power’, and ‘Har Har Byomkesh’, Nusrat carved a niche for herself in the film industry.

While Yash has featured in projects like ‘Koi Aane Ko Hai’, ‘Gangster’, ‘Bojhena Se Bojhena’ and ‘Na Aana Is Des Laado’. He is currently shooting for the upcoming film ‘Cheene Badaam’.

Nusrat had worked with Yash in the movie ‘SOS Kolkata’. It is said that their friendship grew stronger after working in this film. However, they have not officially commented on their relationship yet.

Yediyurappa : Corruption Cases

Bengaluru (Karnataka): In another major setback to former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, the Karnataka High Court on Tuesday issued notices to him, his son BY Vijayendra and former state minister ST Somashekar in connection with a corruption case in a housing project.
Justice S. Sunil Dutt Yadav passed the order on a petition filed by Abraham TJ, a social activist and president of Karnataka Anti-Graft and Environmental Forum, Bengaluru. The court has also ordered an inquiry into the complaint filed by Abraham.
Sashidhar Maradi, Sanjay Sree, Virupakashappa Yamakanamardi, all relatives of Yediyurappa, IAS officer GC Prakash, hotelier K Ravi, and contractor Chandrakanth Ramalingam are the other respondents in the petition.
It was alleged in the petition that when Yediyurappa was the Chief Minister of Karnataka, the state’s governor refused to give permission to inquire.
Since Yediyurappa is now a former CM, the inquiry can be held.
The lawyers for the petitioners have argued that since Yediyurappa is not the chief minister now, any prior permission is not needed to conduct his trial.
Abraham in his petition has levelled allegations of corruption to the tune of Rs 12.5 crore and said that evidence is available to prove the same in the case.
Abraham filed a private complaint in June against Yediyurappa and his family alleging illegal money transfers in approving a 2020 housing scheme. It was transferred by the High Court Divisional Bench, said Abraham in his petition.
The petitioner stated that the governor’s permission was sought on November 20, 2020, for permission to conduct an inquiry against Yediyurappa, since he was the CM then. A complaint was filed with the ACB (anti-corruption bureau) on November 25. But on 15 December 2020, the ACB terminated the investigation of the complaint, alleged Abraham in the plea.
On June 4, 2021, at the Special Court of Criminal Prosecutions against people’s representatives, a complaint was filed. Later, it was rejected on July 8.
Petitioner had stated that there was evidence supporting the investigation under section 156 (3) of the CRPC. But the court held that the hearing required the governor’s permission.
On June 30, the special court ordered the governor’s permission after hearing into the matter was refused on July 23, following which Abraham moved the High Court in this regard.
Since Yeddyurappa was the chief minister, he needed permission for enquiry against Yediyurappa. But Abraham has argued that his trial does not need any permission because he is not the chief minister now.
The hearing of the case has been postponed to next week.
