Normani: ‘God Clearly Had Other Plans For Me’

Normani reflected on her journey as an artist in a heartfelt speech and shared that she used to be afraid of “being seen”.

As per People Magazine, the songstress, who has teamed up with Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, Sam Smith, Khalid and 6lack, delivered a speech after accepting the Collaborator of the Year Award at Variety’s Hitmakers Brunch on Saturday. The ‘Fifth Harmony’ alum said, “I’ve always felt growing up, like, really, really overlooked. And I always had this fear of being seen. My mom would always ask me, ‘Why be in a girl group?’ She’s like, ‘Is it so you can hide?'”

“And especially being a Black woman in music, this feels like a particular honour to receive recognition in this category,” she added.

The ‘Motivation’ singer previously opened up about overcoming self-doubt and adjusting to her star power.

“I’ve always felt like the underdog in anything that I’ve ever done. I felt like I was overlooked. That idea has been projected on me. Like, this is your place,” Normani said in an interview, referring to her time as a member of ‘Fifth Harmony’.

Normani also looked back at her upbringing — from her roots in New Orleans to her time in Houston following Hurricane Katrina — saying that growing up, although she sometimes faced bullying at school, she knew she was beautiful in her Black skin.

“I grew up feeling beautiful. My mom, my dad, my grandmother instilled in me at a very early age that I was beautiful. The fact that my skin was chocolate was a beautiful thing. My kinky hair was beautiful. I don’t need to straighten it. I can rock my braids to my all-white school.” she said.

“I did get bullied a lot. Not feeling like I had that representation at school was very hard,” she added.

Ruhaan Arshad Quits Music, Says It Is ‘Haraam’

Hyderabadi rapper Ruhaan Arshad, who shot to fame after the release of his rap song ‘Miya Bhai’ in 2018, recently announced that he quit the music industry, saying it is “haraam” (prohibited) in Islam.

On his YouTube channel ‘Ruhaan Arshad official’, the rapper uploaded a video for his 2.34 million subscribers, in which he announced that he is quitting music after realising it is “haraam” in his religion.

“I am confident about my decision and never had a second thought before announcing this news with you all. I am completely quitting this music industry and will never make any music video from now onwards. I knew that music is a sin in Islam, I just had a passion which led me to pursue it,” Arshad said in the seven-minute-long video.

He further stated that he is only quitting the music industry and not YouTube. Thanking his fans for supporting him throughout his music journey, Arshad asked them to help him decide on other content for his YouTube channel that is not sinful.

Arshad also urged his followers who had entered into the music industry after being inspired by him, to quit rapping.

The rapper became an overnight star after he released his rap song ‘Miya Bhai’ on YouTube, in 2018. So far, the video song has accumulated more than 500 million views on the platform.

Soon after Arshad released the video announcing his exit from the music industry, several fans and influencers chimed into the comments section to react to his decision.

“You have a good voice. Upload Quran surah. U will get good deeds. Inshallah,” wrote one user.

Another wrote, “I appreciate you for your decision. MashaAllah, InshaAllah Allah will make a better plan for you.”

A user criticised his decision, saying, “abbe yrr kb tk chlegaa ye sbb..ganaa bnaana bhi haraam hogyaa abb aapka passion sirff singing h usme kisikaa nuksaan thodi horaa h aap kisiko hurt nhi krre tohh ye btt kharaab kse ho skti h yr. Singing dancing ek art h talent h..mko kbhi kbhi schme lgtaa h ki ye kch jydada hi horaa h koi cheez jo kiisko hurt nhi krti vo haraam h lekin dharm k naam p jo log janvaaro ko marte h vo haraam nhi h ajeeb rules b.”

For the unversed, this isn’t the first time that a celebrity has left the entertainment industry citing prohibition in Islam. Celebrities like, ‘Dangal’ star Zaira Wasim, actor Sana Khan, reality TV star Saqib Khan, and others have also quit showbiz for spiritual-religious reasons.

Britney Spears Wants To Make Music Again After Conservatorship Win

Friday marks the big victory day for pop star Britney Spears after 13 long years, she is finally free from her conservatorship. An LA judge has finally given her sole power to control her life and money.

But what her fans and followers are looking up to is her further plans after the conservatorship win. The singer is already making plans that also include recording music again. Britney “wants to make music and perform again,” but it’s “not her top priority right now and hasn’t been for a while,” a source exclusively told Page Six.

“It’s never been her intention to step away from her career altogether. People around Britney spoke for her and said she was retiring, but they were putting words in her mouth,” the source told the outlet.

The insider added, “The only thing she’s said is that she would not work again under her father’s control, but now that he’s out as her conservator, she’s willing and even excited to get back to it one day.”

There has always been a lot of buzz as to whether the ‘Toxic’ singer would ever return to her music career.

As per Page Six, Britney checked into a mental health facility following her “indefinite work hiatus” as of January 2019.

Her second Vegas residency, ‘Britney: Domination’ was also delayed as a result of the hiatus.

In an Instagram Live session in March 2020, Britney’s 15-year-old son, Jayden told his followers that his mom was still unsure about a comeback.

In July, the pop icon’s longtime manager, Larry Rudolph, quit claiming that the singer had plans to “officially retire.”

TMZ reported earlier on Friday that Britney is all set to be back in the game now. She wants to get back into the studio but has not yet picked producers or writers to work with yet.

However, a source then clarified Page Six that the Grammy winner is open to getting back to work, but “her focus is on the elimination of her conservatorship, marrying Sam and having a baby.”

On Friday, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny ruled that Britney Spears is now capable of being in control of her estate, and the circumstances that led to the restrictive legal arrangement in 2008 no longer apply.

Alexa’s updates let your music follow you from one room to another

Washington [US]: Alexa’s October update has introduced several new helpful commands that let you start listening to audio in one room and continue listening on an Echo device in another.
As per The Verge, there are a few different commands for this, and the ones you use will depend on your situation. The first command lets you move audio between groups, also known as the smart speakers that you’ve assigned to specific locations throughout your home.
Simply say, “Alexa, move my music to (desired group),” and you can transfer your podcast, radio show, or music to the room that you plan on spending time in.
You can also continue listening to audio when you walk out the door — keep in mind that you’ll need a pair of Echo Buds in order for this to work.
Once your Echo Buds are connected to your phone, say, “Alexa move my music here,” and the audio will continue playing on your earbuds when you walk out the door.
There’s another way to have your audio follow you throughout your house, but you’ll have to pause your music to do so.
Just say “Alexa, pause” to the Echo device playing audio, and then say “Alexa, resume music here” to the Echo device you want to use. You can use the same commands when you want to resume your music in your car as well.
This is a major improvement, considering that users have asked Amazon to add a feature that lets audio follow them throughout the house for years.
It looks like Amazon is taking feedback into account, as these commands should finally provide a way to get seamless audio playback throughout your entire home.

Apple Music’s new ‘Voice Plan’ is cheaper

Washington [US]: Apple has announced a new Apple Music subscription tier, dubbed the Voice Plan, at its October event.
As per Mashable, at USD 4.99 a month, the Voice Plan is the least expensive Apple Music subscription option to date. But there is a catch. During the live stream, Apple Music host Zane Lowe appeared thrilled to announce that with the Voice Plan, you “use only your voice and the power of Siri,” perhaps forgetting that some people prefer to type in their song searches — or literally are unable to speak.
Mashable confirmed that for subscribers of the Voice Plan, full playback from search only works via voice. There are a few tap-to-play options, however, like everything in the Radio tab and previously purchased or uploaded content in a user’s library.
The new plan also differs from the Individual Plan, which costs USD 9.99 per month, in that it lacks access to music videos and that doesn’t promise lossless audio. In other words, the sound quality on the Voice Plan won’t be as high as the other plans.

Clubhouse is launching new Music Mode

Washington [US]: The audio social networking app Clubhouse is launching a new Music Mode that could make it a better place to play and listen to live music.
As per The Verge, the new Music Mode “optimises Clubhouse to broadcast your music with high quality and great stereo sound”. Clubhouse doesn’t say what it means by high quality, but it does also mention that you can now hook up professional equipment, like a USB mic or mixing board, and use it during your broadcast.
Clubhouse already added spatial audio in late August, which makes conversations sound more like a room full of people than a flat audio call. You can easily turn on Music Mode by tapping the three dots in the top right corner of a room, selecting Audio Quality, and then choosing Music. If you just want to listen to the performance, however, you won’t have to do any of this — just sit back and enjoy stereo audio from your headphones, speakers, or your phone itself.
Clubhouse also noted that its recently introduced Clips feature — which lets you capture a 30-second recording — will support stereo sound as well, so if you decide to save a snippet of performance in Music Mode, the audio quality will stay the same.
Music Mode will initially only be available on iOS, but Clubhouse says that the rollout to Android will follow shortly behind.
Aside from Music Mode, Clubhouse has also updated its search feature. The platform will now display the search bar in a more convenient location at the top of your hallway. And as an added plus, you’ll also be able to Wave to friends right from the search bar, a feature that lets you quickly invite friends to a live audio room.
Amazon is far from Clubhouse’s only competition for live audio. Clubhouse likely learned its lesson this past year, when Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and even Spotify made their own versions of audio-only chatrooms.
All of this came at a time when Clubhouse was still in an invite-only state, making it harder for the app to grow. But now that the app is thriving, Clubhouse wants to keep as many advantages as possible.

Apple announces huge push into classical music, standalone app launching in 2022

Washington [US]: In a bid to expand its classical music offering, Apple recently announced that it has acquired classical music streaming service Primephonic and will launch an app dedicated to the genre in 2022.
As per The Verge, the tech giant stated that it will incorporate the app’s functionality and playlists into Apple Music. The result will be “a significantly improved classical music experience,” Apple said. There will also be a standalone Apple Music classical app coming sometime in 2022.
Effective immediately, Primephonic is no longer accepting new customers, and the service as it exists today will shut down on September 7.
Apple says Primephonic’s playlists and “exclusive audio content” will be the first to be integrated into Apple Music. Down the line, it’ll add “the best features of Primephonic, including better browsing and search capabilities by composer and by repertoire, detailed displays of classical music metadata, plus new features and benefits.”
In a show of how serious Apple is about appealing to classical fans, the company says “a dedicated classical music app” will launch next year that will use Primephonic’s “classical user interface that fans have grown to love.”
Primephonic launched three years ago, and its team says this deal is about scale and reaching more listeners.
“As a classical-only startup, we can not reach the majority of global classical listeners, especially those that listen to many other music genres as well,” the company wrote in a note on its webpage.
“We, therefore, concluded that in order to achieve our mission, we need to partner with a leading streaming service that encompasses all music genres and also shares our love for classical music,” the company added.
According to Primephonic’s FAQ, customers with an active subscription will receive a prorated refund. They will also be getting a code to redeem six free months of Apple Music.

The ‘Sorry’ star broke the record this week by raking in the most monthly listeners on Spotify over the course of the streaming platform’s history, with a whopping number of 83.3 million listeners as his ‘Justice’ album continues to surge on the charts, according to TMZ. On a related note, his hit single with The Kid LAROI, ‘Stay’also continues to cruise at number one, several weeks after its release.

Before Justin, Ariana Grande held the record with 82 million monthly listeners.

Kim Kardashian, Kanye West Recreate Their Wedding At ‘Donda’ Listening Event

For the Chicago listening session of ‘Donda’ recently, rapper Kanye West appeared to relive his wedding to ex-wife Kim Kardashian and fans couldn’t believe their eyes.

Kanye’s long-awaited album’s third listening party featured plenty of guest appearances including musicians DaBaby and Marilyn Manson, for which the rapper came under fire. But fans got excited when his ex-wife Kim appeared wearing a wedding dress at the event.

According to E! News, the audience at the event was stunned by the final song when Kanye appeared to be set on fire and then was greeted by a woman, who wore a Balenciaga Couture wedding gown and a veil covering her face–which was indeed the rapper’s ex-wife Kim.

With her face covered with a veil, the beauty mogul, in a viral video could be seen stepping out in a bridal dress during the final song of the night ‘No Child Left Behind’.

Kim’s sisters, Kylie Jenner and Khloe Kardashian, also reacted to the moment on their social media handles.

Kylie, who is expecting her second child with Travis Scott, took to her Instagram Story and shared a string of snaps of the special Kim-Kanye moment.

Meanwhile, Khloe took to her Twitter handle at the end of the night to post, “insanely beautiful!!!”
E! News also obtained a viral video posted by a fan account, in which Kanye and the bride could be seen holding hands as they made their way out of the venue after the album had finished playing.

Apart from this, Kanye’s event brought plenty of other shockers. Fans observed that contributions from both Jay-Z and Kid Cudi, which were heard during previous versions of the album, were not included in this third listening event.

The major surprising contributions were from DaBaby and Marilyn Manson. DaBaby, who recently faced backlash over homophobic comments he made earlier this summer appeared to replace Jay-Z with his verse. He was captured standing on the replica of Kanye’s childhood home’s porch at the stadium.

Meanwhile, Marilyn was also seen standing on the porch of the home throughout the event, reported E! News.

Marilyn has been facing several lawsuits, alleging him of rape and physical assault. In May, he was accused by a former partner of rape and assault, and in February, he denied other allegations of abuse against him.

Another star who joined the porch was dancehall singer Shenseea. The singer posted an image of herself on her Instagram Story after the event.

As per E! News, one song that was missing from the latest version of the album was one in which Kanye sang about losing his family, which was heard during both of the previous listening events.
The first listening event was held at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium on July 22, and the second was held at the same venue on August 5.

Kim was a spectator in the crowd for the first two events, joined by the couple’s kids- 8-year-old North West, 5-year-old Saint West, 3-year-old Chicago West, and 2-year-old Psalm West.

‘Donda’ is named after the Grammy winner’s late mother Donda West, who died at the age of 58 following plastic surgery complications in 2007.

With an original release date set in 2020, then on July 23, 2021, and again on August 6, 2021, it is still unclear when the official album of ‘Donda’ will drop.

BTS, Megan Thee Stallion Drops ‘Butter’ Remix

Popular South Korean band BTS recently dropped the remix of their hit song ‘Butter’, which features an assist from Grammy-winning rapper Megan Thee Stallion.

The remix version of the song was released on Friday. Megan shared the song on her Twitter handle, writing, “OUT NOWWWW http://bts.lnk.to/ButterMTS.”

“Houston’s finest, in the room with bosses/ Make ’em all get ratchet in they suits and blouses/ I remember writing flows in my room in college/ Now I need global entry to the shows I’m rocking,” Megan raps on the track.

The original ‘Butter’ previously stood at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts for nine weeks, marking itself as the longest-running No.-1 song of 2021 thus far, according to Billboard.

When BTS released the song back in May, it broke a YouTube record for concurrent viewers after having more than 3.89 million fans tuned in at the same time to see the music video. The official video has since been viewed more than 530 million times.

BTS, which consists of Jungkook, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin and V, has previously collaborated with artists like Steve Aoki, Halsey and Nicki Minaj.

As per People magazine, the release of the ‘Butter’ remix comes after Megan took legal action against her record label to ensure its release.

The rapper filed in Harris County, Texas, on Tuesday, accusing record label 1501 Certified Entertainment of preventing her remix of ‘Butter’ with the superstar K-pop band from being released to the public, according to documents obtained by Variety.

Megan, who used her real name Megan Pete in the filing, said missing the previously scheduled debut of the song would do “irreparable damage” to her music career, having a “devastating impact to her relationships with her fans and with other recording artists in the music industry.”

“The release of new music from Pete is vital to maintain her status as a relatively new but still up-and-coming artist,” Megan’s filing read.

“Absent immediate help from the Court, Pete’s art will be impacted, the release of the song derailed, and Pete’s goodwill, reputation, and overall career will suffer detrimental, undesirable, and irreversible harm,” the filing further read.

In an update earlier this week, Variety then reported that a judge ruled Megan was clear to release the ‘Butter’ remix on time.

Kanye West To Collaborate With Marilyn Manson On ‘Donda’ Album

Grammy-winning artist Kanye West is collaborating with Marilyn Manson on the rapper’s upcoming album ‘Donda’, despite the rocker facing allegations of sexual abuse and physical violence from more than 15 women.

Hours after Manson appeared onstage alongside West at his ‘Donda’ listening party at Chicago’s Soldier Field, a spokesperson for Manson told People magazine that the rocker and rapper will continue to work together on the release of West’s new album. “Marilyn Manson’s voice is featured on DONDA. And he will continue to conceptually collaborate with Ye on the DONDA project,” the spokesperson said.

The new collaboration between Manson and West, who seemed to previously sample the rocker’s song ‘The Beautiful People’ on ‘Black Skinhead’, comes as the rocker faces accusations of sexual abuse and domestic violence from more than 15 women, including actors Evan Rachel Wood and Esme Bianco.
The singer has denied the allegations and has not been charged with any crime till now.

Bianco is also one of four women who have sued the singer for sexual abuse. Along with accusing him of physical violence and sexual assault, Bianco and Manson’s ex-girlfriend Ashley Morgan Smithline also accused the singer of sex trafficking.

“I live in constant fear even to this day,” Smithline told People magazine after filing her lawsuit against Manson.

“I am seeking justice because I want to move forward and heal from the terrible abuse I faced. I want Brian Warner to be held accountable once and for all,” she added at the time.

As for ‘Donda’, West hosted a third listening party for the unreleased album on Thursday where he welcomed Manson and DaBaby, who was recently under fire for homophobic comments at a concert on stage.

‘Donda’ is named after the Grammy winner’s late mother Donda West, who died at the age of 58 following plastic surgery complications in 2007.

YouTube Music now available on Google, Samsung’s new WearOS platform

Washington [US]: American tech giant Google recently released the YouTube Music streaming service on its WearOS platform.
As per The Verge, Google released a Wear OS app for YouTube Music, which could seem like welcome news for people who have been waiting for a way to play their music off Google’s streaming service after the company shut down Google Play Music on Wear OS in August 2020. However, the new app comes with a few caveats. The biggest catch is that the new app only works on one of Samsung’s two new watches powered by Wear OS 3, according to Google.
These watches won’t be available until August 27, so even if you want to try the new app right now, you won’t be able to unless you have a Galaxy Watch 4 or a Galaxy Watch 4 Classic.
If you are lucky enough to have one of the new watches, the YouTube Music Wear OS will let YouTube Premium subscribers download music right to their watch, meaning you can listen to tunes with just a watch and a pair of Bluetooth headphones, even when you don’t have an internet connection.
However, based on 9to5Google’s hands-on with the app, it sounds like there might be some frustrating caveats you’ll have to keep in mind when you’re actually using the Wear OS YouTube Music app.
9to5Google says there doesn’t appear to be a way to stream music from the app — it appears that you can only download music right now. And annoyingly, you can only download songs while the watch is on a charger.
Still, it’s nice that a YouTube Music Wear OS app is available at all, even in its current limited form. Google hasn’t shared details about when the app might be available on other Wear OS devices.

Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Chehre’ Title Track Out

The title track of Anand Pandit’s ‘Chehre’ was released on Monday, and the collaboration of superstar Amitabh Bachchan, musicians Vishal-Shekhar, and the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra is undoubtedly a masterpiece!

A few months ago, the makers of ‘Chehre’ released a small snippet of the title track and since then the audience has been waiting for them to lift the curtain. To fulfill the demand of the fans, the makers of the movie have finally released the track which has been crooned by Big B and composed by musicians from Prague.

Vishal-Shekhar- one of the most celebrated ‘musical Jodi’ of Indian cinema has given the musical touch to the Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi starrer ‘Chehre’.

Sharing about working with Vishal-Shekhar, director Rumy Jafry shared, “Films make no sense without music. If we go back to the time, the films had no dialogue but did have music. Also, when it comes to a mystery thriller, your music has to be bold and precise. Considering this, we collectively decided to get on board Vishal-Shekhar because who else if not them?”

The genre that ‘Chehre’ deals with, requires good music throughout the film and hence the makers of the films have not overlooked that aspect. Both Vishal and Shekhar had put to tune a poem recited by Big B for ‘Chehre’s title track where he coordinated with a total of 107 musicians.

Producer Anand Pandit said, “Vishal and Shekhar have beautifully composed the title track of Chehre with 107 other musicians from Prague. Their concentration, dedication, and will to produce something soulful using the instruments are just commendable. On the other hand, it is the first time after Silsila and Agneepath that Amitabhji has recited a poem in any film. As a fan of Amitabhji and producer for Chehre, I feel blessed because not many get this privilege.”

The Rumy Jafry directorial movie produced by Anand Pandit Motion Pictures & Saraswati Entertainment Private Limited, also stars Annu Kapoor, Krystle D’Souza, Dhritiman Chatterjee, Raghubir Yadav, Siddhanth Kapoor, and Rhea Chakraborty.

The film is set to get a theatrical release on 27 August 2021.

Tony Bennett Retiring From Live Performances

Legendary singer Tony Bennett has stepped down from the stage as he is retiring from live performances, following his health issues.

The 95-year-old singer, who has been fighting Alzheimer’s disease since 2016, has finally said goodbye to the stage for live performances. The iconic singer’s son Danny Bennett recently announced the news in an interview with Variety that his father is officially retiring from live music and scrapping his 2021 tour dates.

“There won’t be any additional concerts. This was a hard decision for us to make, as he is a capable performer. This is, however, doctors’ orders,” Bennett’s son and manager Danny Bennett told Variety.
This was in reference to Tony’s fall tour dates which were originally rescheduled from 2020 due to the pandemic but were cancelled as his family hopes to prioritise his health.

“His continued health is the most important part of this, and when we heard the doctors — when Tony’s wife, Susan heard them — she said, ‘Absolutely not, he’ll be doing other things, but not those upcoming shows. It’s not the singing aspect but, rather, the travelling. Look, he gets tired,” Danny told Variety.

Danny further explained that the decision made by the family was not because they are worried about him being able to sing but “we are worried, from a physical standpoint… about human nature” as he is 95.

“They kept telling me that we lied, that there was no way Tony had Alzheimer’s, I assured everyone that he does. … Yes, here he was, at 95, and still singing like this: strong, Emotive. But still, it is a complex question: how can he do this?” Danny told Variety in reference to the fans’ response to the Grammy-winning singer’s last live concerts with Academy Award-winning singer Lady Gaga.

“My answer is that this is where he has lived his whole life and where he is most happy — on the stage, making music. Dealing as we have with Alzheimer’s for the last four-five years, it’s cognitive,” he added telling the outlet that despite his father has “short-term memory loss” he still does not use a “teleprompter”.

Danny continued, “Tony may not remember every part of doing that show. But, when he stepped to the side of the stage, the first thing he told me was: ‘I love being a singer.'”

Tony Bennett is a singer known for his works in traditional pop standards, big bands, show tunes, and jazz. He is also a painter, having created works under his birth name that are on permanent public display in several institutions.

Tony has released over 70 albums during his career, almost all for Columbia Records. He has also charted over 30 singles during his career, with his biggest hits all occurring during the early 1950s.

On August 12, 2021, a few days after his 95th birthday, Tony’s retirement from concert performances was announced by his son and manager Danny Bennett.

Danny stated that “though Bennett remained a capable singer, he was becoming physically frail and risked a major fall if he continued touring.”

On Wednesday, Badshah released the new version of the song that features none other than the young boy along with singer Aastha Gill and musician Rico. Of course, Badshah is there too. Speaking about his collaboration with Sahdev, Badshah said, “‘Bachpan ka Pyaar’ is going to be a humungous celebration of the power of social media in current times. Aastha, Rico, and I are extremely excited to present the biggest hero amongst us, Sahdev. Fans have lauded Badshah for giving this opportunity to Sahdev.
“Thanks Badshah for collaborating with Sahdev. This is the real power of social media,” a fan commented on Instagram.

For the unversed, Sahdev belongs to the Sukma district in Chhattisgarh. Reportedly, a few years ago, one of his teachers asked him to sing ‘Bachpan Ka Pyaar’ at school and recorded his video. The clip was subsequently shared on the internet, which eventually trended in 2021.

Stevie Nicks Cancels Upcoming Concert Due To Covid-19

American singer Stevie Nicks, who is best known for her songs ‘The Chain’, ‘Blue Denim’ and ‘Rooms on Fire’, has cancelled her upcoming concerts due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nicks was supposed to perform at the BottleRock Napa Valley in California and the Jazz Aspen Festival in Colorado in September. In October, she was scheduled to perform both weekends at Austin City Limits. Opening up about her decision, Nicks said: “These are challenging times with challenging decisions that have to be made. I want everyone to be safe and healthy and the rising Covid cases should be of concern to all of us. While I’m vaccinated, at my age, I am still being extremely cautious and for that reason have decided to skip the 5 performances I had planned for 2021.”

The 73-year-old does not want people to neglect their health.

“Because singing and performing have been my whole life, my primary goal is to keep healthy so I can continue singing for the next decade or longer,” Nicks’ statement said. “I’m devastated and I know the fans are disappointed, but we will look towards a brighter 2022,” she added.

After Nick’s decision, several festivals announce replacement acts. Singer Chris Stapleton will take Nicks’ place at BottleRock.

Taylor Swift Hints Fans With Clues To New ‘Red’ Album Songs

American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift recently shared a social media post that hinted she will apparently be bringing in Phoebe Bridgers as a guest for her upcoming rerecording of ‘Red’ (Taylor’s Version).

The three-time album of the year Grammy winner released a special “vault video” on Twitter, containing a hidden message about the album for her fans. It suggested that she’ll soon be announcing the names of new “from the vault” tracks from the upcoming rerecording of her fourth studio album, 2012’s ‘Red’, which is slated for a November 19 release.

The video showed a vault, coloured in red, with music playing in the background, and a jumble of letters flying on the screen, towards the viewers. The word puzzle featured the names of bonus tracks to be included on ‘Red’ (Taylor’s Version) as well as possible collaborators on the album.

Swift chose this same method when hinting at what was coming on her re-recorded album ‘Fearless (Taylor’s Version)’, which arrived in April.

Swifties were quick to discover the words ‘Phoebe Bridgers’ hidden in the message, plus ‘Better Man’, a song Swift originally wrote for ‘Red’ but later gave to Little Big Town to record. Swift performed it live at the Bluebird Cafe in 2018 as part of Bluebird, a documentary film tribute to the Nashville venue where she was discovered.

Ed Sheeran, who recorded ‘Everything Has Changed’ with Swift on the original ‘Red’ and country singer Chris Stapleton, were also found in the word search, implying that Swift will be collaborating with both for the new album. Sheeran recently said in an interview he’d re-recorded his duet part, as well as hinting at other recordings.

Also in the puzzle was ‘Ronan’, a heart-wrenching track Swift wrote in the ‘Red’ era that was inspired by four-year-old Ronan Thompson’s fatal battle with cancer. Reportedly, Swift only performed it once at the 2012 Stand Up to Cancer telethon, but Billboard reported last week that a re-recorded ‘Ronan’ will be appearing on ‘Red’ (Taylor’s Version) with permission from Ronan’s mother, Maya Thompson.

Lastly, ‘All Too Well’, ‘Ten’, ‘Minute’ and ‘Version’ were also in the search, confirming that the long-awaited 10-minute version of ‘All Too Well’ will be featured on the re-recording.

There were a few other words here and there in the puzzle that form up the names of new song titles. The unscrambled list of newly recorded ‘Vault’ tracks being added to the original ‘Red’ will be as follows:
– ‘Ronan’
– ‘Better Man’
– ‘Nothing New’, featuring Phoebe Bridgers
– ‘Babe’
– ‘Message in a Bottle’
– ‘I Bet You Think About Me’, featuring Chris Stapleton
– ‘Forever Winter’
– ‘Run’, featuring Ed Sheeran
– ‘The Very First Night’
– ‘All Too Well’ 10-minute version
Along with the video, she tweeted, “*presses post* *cackles maniacally* Level: casually cruel in the name of being honest,” referencing lyrics to her objectively finest masterpiece, ‘All Too Well’.

She later followed up with a subsequent tweet, writing, “Your next clue will be in the spot where you hear red…”

The singer, then again, tweeted, “Love is a ruthless game #iunlockedthevault,” with a sunglasses emoji. As fans might know, the line is from 2012 ‘Red’ opener ‘State of Grace’.

As per USA Today, Swift is re-recording her music after a public battle with music executive Scooter Braun, who had purchased her recordings before selling them for millions in November 2020.
By re-recording her music, she will be gaining ownership over the earlier songs that launched her career, albeit with a more sophisticated, mature twist.

Miley Cirus Invites DaBaby To Talk Amid Homophobic Remarks Controversy

Joining a growing chorus of celebrities this week in speaking out against DaBaby’s homophobic remarks, singer-songwriter Miley Cyrus invited the rapper to have an open dialogue with her on the subject.

In a statement posted on her Instagram handle, Miley spoke out against cancel culture and in the caption wrote, “@DaBaby check your DMS — would love to talk and see how we can learn from each other and help be part of making a more just and understanding future!” In her social media statement, Miley wrote, “As a proud and loyal member of the LGBTQIA+ community, much of my life has been dedicated to encouraging love, acceptance, and open mindedness. The internet can fuel a lot of hate and anger and is the nucleus of cancel culture… but I believe it can also be a place filled with education, conversation, communication and connection.”

The ‘Wrecking Ball’ singer, in her statement, further said, “It’s easier to cancel someone than to find forgiveness and compassion in ourselves or take the time to change hearts and minds. There’s no more room for division if we want to keep seeing progress! Knowledge is power! I know I still have so much to learn.”

During DaBaby’s recent Rolling Loud performance on June 25, the rapper had encouraged the audience to put their cell phone flashlights in the air if they “didn’t show up today with HIV/AIDS or any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases that will make you die in two to three weeks,” among further derogatory remarks about HIV/AIDS and LGBTQ+ people.

After receiving social media backlash, DaBaby was pulled from his brand ambassador deal with Boohoo Man. His ‘Levitating’ collaborator, Dua Lipa, also spoke out against him, along with other big names including Elton John, Madonna and others.

Just three days after the incident, DaBaby released a video for his new song, ‘Giving What It’s Supposed To Give’, which featured the lyrics, ‘We like AIDS… we on your ass, bitch, we won’t go away’.

The day of his scheduled Sunday performance at Lollapalooza, the festival announced in a tweet that DaBaby would no longer be performing. “Lollapalooza was founded on diversity, inclusivity, respect, and love. With that in mind, DaBaby will no longer be performing at Grant Park tonight,” the statement read.
He has also been dropped from other festivals, including Austin City Limits, Governor’s Ball, Day N Vegas, iHeartRadio Music Festival, Can’t Wait Live!, Music Midtown and Parklife Festival.

In an initial apology that came across as insincere to several fans, DaBaby admitted on Twitter that his remarks were “insensitive” but suggested that the comments had been “digested” wrong in another tweet. The rapper followed up with statements like “Apologies for being me.”

Once again on August 2, DaBaby offered another apology on Instagram, writing, “Social media moves so fast that people want to demolish you before you even have the opportunity to grow, educate, and learn from your mistakes. As a man who has had to make his own way from very difficult circumstances, having people I know publicly working against me — knowing that what I needed was education on these topics and guidance — has been challenging.”

Expressing gratitude towards the people, who reached out to him, he added, “I appreciate the many people who came to me with kindness, who reached out to me privately to offer wisdom, education, and resources. That’s what I needed and it was received.”

DaBaby is no stranger to controversy, having to backtrack some questionable lyrics about JoJo Siwa earlier this year.

He also came under fire from Megan Thee Stallion recently, following his collaboration with Tory Lanez, who allegedly shot her in the feet last summer. Lanez joined DaBaby at Rolling Loud to perform their track ‘SKAT’ immediately after Megan hit the stage.

Justin Bieber Apologizes For Endorsing Morgan Wallen’s Music

Canadian singer-songwriter Justin Bieber, on Wednesday, shared a social media apology for his endorsement of country music star Morgan Wallen’s song, six months after a video was leaked of Wallen drunkenly using the N-word with his friends.

In a now-deleted post, Bieber had shared a screenshot of Wallen’s ‘Sand In My Boots’ from ‘Dangerous: The Double Album’, writing “Love this album”, alongside it. Not long after, the ‘Sorry’ singer deleted the post and penned an apology on his Instagram Stories. Apologising to the people he unknowingly hurt due to the incident, Bieber wrote, “I had no idea that the guy’s music i posted was recently found saying racist comments. As you know i dont support or tolerate any sort of racism or discrimination. I had no idea, I sincerely apologize to anyone i offended.”

The ‘Peaches’ singer nodded to his own past with the slur by adding, “When I was a kid, I was incredibly ignorant and said some very hurtful racist jokes that clearly were not funny. I hurt a lot of people especially the Black people in my life but was fortunate enough to have had them educate me on the horrifying origin of the n-word. This brings those painful memories back up; I will always take ownership for my ignorance and my past because I know I am not that person.”

In March, Bieber had revealed that he doesn’t own a cellphone and instead opts to use an iPad. Hence it’s at least somewhat plausible that he missed the controversy surrounding the country star.
Wallen was on ‘Good Morning America’ in July talking about the incident but seems like Bieber is not the target audience for that show.

In February, Wallen faced enormous social media backlash after TMZ published a video of him telling a friend to “take care of this p–y-ass n–a” when they returned home from a night out in Nashville.
He immediately issued an apology, saying he was “embarrassed and sorry,” but months later, he revealed it wasn’t the first time he’s used the word.

As per Fox News, Big Loud, Wallen’s record label suspended him in February but has since reinstated him. Either way, the controversy hasn’t dented his album sales. Wallen’s ‘Dangerous’ album has been No. 1 on the Billboard country album chart for 26 weeks.

Selena Gomez Slams ‘The Good Fight’ Makers For Mocking Her Kidney Transplant

Actor-singer Selena Gomez has slammed the makers of ‘The Good Fight’ for making fun of her kidney transplant on the show.

“I am not sure how writing jokes about organ transplants for television shows has become a thing but sadly it has apparently. I hope in the next writer’s room when one of these tasteless jokes are presented it’s called out immediately and doesn’t make it on air,” Gomez tweeted on Wednesday. The ‘Feel me’ hitmaker’s tweet comes days after her fans pointed out a scene on the ongoing show ‘The Good Fight’ where makers allegedly made a joke about the former’s kidney transplant, which she received in 2017 amid her battle with lupus, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

After seeing her fans criticising the particular episode, Gomez thanked them for their support.
“My fans always have my back. Love you,” she added, along with dropping a link to sign up to be an organ donor.

Mocking Gomez’s health conditions has not happened for the first time. Peacock’s ‘Saved by the Bell’ reboot was criticised for the same offense late last year. In response, Peacock apologised for making light of Gomez’s health struggles, in addition to making a donation to The Selena Gomez Fund for Lupus Research at USC.

Pete Parada Asked To Leave Band For Not Getting Vaccinated

Pete Parada, the drummer for The Offspring, recently revealed that he was asked to leave the band over his refusal to receive a coronavirus vaccine.

Pete in his Instagram post claimed that he’s been told not to show up at the studio, either, even though he comes up with a legitimate medical reason for not getting the jab. In the drummer’s introductory remarks on Instagram, he wrote, “I’ve got some unfortunate and difficult news to share. I know many of my close friends and family would’ve preferred to hear this privately first — and I apologize for the public nature of my disclosure, but I don’t know how to have this conversation multiple times.

“Given my personal medical history and the side-effect profile of these jabs, my doctor has advised me not to get a shot at this time. I caught the virus over a year ago, it was mild for me — so I am confident I’d be able to handle it again, but I’m not so certain I’d survive another post-vaccination round of Guillain-Barre Syndrome, which dates back to my childhood and has evolved to be progressively worse over my lifetime. Unfortunately for me, (and my family — who is hoping to keep me around a bit longer) the risks far outweigh the benefits,” he wrote.

Revealing how that affects his status in the band, Pete explained: “Since I am unable to comply with what is increasingly becoming an industry mandate — it has recently been decided that I am unsafe to be around, in the studio, and on tour. I mention this because you won’t be seeing me at these upcoming shows.”

After updating his fans about the issue, Pete also said that he has no hard feelings for his other bandmates and he has not posted out of anger.

“I have no negative feelings towards my band,” he wrote. “They’re doing what they believe is best for them, while I am doing the same. Wishing the entire Offspring family all the best as they get back at it! I’m heartbroken not to be seeing my road community, and I will miss connecting with the fans more than I can express in words,” he added.

Pete was the band’s second longest running drummer in the group’s 37-year career, having replaced Atom Williard in 2009.

Lizzo Returns With A New Single Titled ‘Rumors’

Grammy-winning singer Lizzo will return with a new single titled ‘Rumors’, which is slated to drop on August 13.

While the cover art isn’t final, the song is available for preorder now. It marks her first new music since 2019’s ‘Cuz I Love You’, reported Variety. The singer announced the track via social media on Monday, writing, “New era, bitch.”

An album is presumably on the way, although representatives for the singer did not immediately respond to requests for further information. Sources told Variety the song is “very different.”
The song comes in advance of several live performances by the star, including her stint as the first woman to ever headline the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. As well as her September 4 appearance at Bonnaroo, Lizzo will also perform for Global Citizen Live on September 25, Firefly Music Festival on September 26, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival on October 10, and Outside Lands on October 30.

Lizzo will also make her eagerly-awaited return to her home state of Minnesota for a headline show at Welch, MN’s Treasure Island Amphitheater on September 11.

Lizzo won three Grammys in 2020, for ‘Truth Hurts’ (best pop solo performance), ‘Jerome’ (best traditional R&B performance) and ‘Cuz I Love You’ (best urban contemporary album). In March, she released details about her first project at Amazon Studios, where she set a first-look television deal last August to create TV projects exclusively for the streaming platform.

The yet-to-be-titled unscripted series will follow Lizzo “as she continues to search for dynamic, full-figured women to join her world and perform with her on stage. Only the most talented dancers and models will have what it takes to twerk it out on tour and stomp it out on the runway,” per the studio.
According to the casting call, the project is looking for “full-figured dancers and models who have for far too long been underrepresented and under-appreciated.”

Lizzo will executive produce the upcoming series.

Billie Eilish Talks About Her Experience With Internet Trolling & Criticism

American singer and songwriter Billie Eilish, recently during an interview, opened up about her experience with the dark side of internet trolling and criticism.

As per Fox News, the 19-year-old spoke about social media trolling in an interview with DJ Clara Amfo. “The people that even say the crazy stuff don’t even think you will see it. They would never say that to you in real life. What is the point of trying to do good if people are just going to keep saying that you are doing wrong?,” she said.

The Grammy-winner talked about the online hate and trolling she gets despite her attempts to do “good for people”.
“I try so hard to do good for the world and good for people. It’s like you can try to do everything right and still it is like one of those exposing celebs accounts goes, ‘Billie Eilish is getting backlash for whatever in the world,'” the musician added.

The 45-minute interview aired the day after the release of her much-awaited second studio album, ‘Happier Than Ever’ on Friday.

Eilish has joined the list of celebrities like Adele, Ariana Grande and Harry Styles who have landed their own ‘At The BBC’ TV specials in the past.

Filhaal 2 Mohabbat: Akshay Kumar And Nupur Sanon’s Tragic Love Story Ends On A Sad Note

Akshay Kumar-starrer song, Filhaal 2 – Mohabbat is out now. The video of the song stars Akshay along with Nupur Sanon and Ammy Virk. It has been sung by B Praak. The song marks Akshay and Nupur’s second video together and their second collaboration with B Praak.

Directed by Arvindr Khaira, the Mohabbat song seems like a prequel to Filhall, which was released in 2019. The video narrates the love story of Akshay and Nupur, which doesn’t have a happy ending. Like the first song, the second track is also about unrequited love and the suffering that comes along with it. While Ammy is there for a limited amount of time, he leaves an impression. Unlike the previous video, Akshay’s avatar in this song is different and stylish.

The song has been written by Jaani, who has previously collaborated with B Praak for “Qismat,” “Maan Bhariya,” “Pachtaoge” and others.

“Filhaal 2” marks Akshay’s second independent music video after “Filhall” and it marks second screen outing for Nupur, who is actor Kriti Sanon’s younger sister.

The video description of “Filhaal 2- Mohabbat” reads, “The pain of a selfless yet incomplete love story continues with ‘Filhaal 2 – Mohabbat’, a romantic ballad that reinstates the fact, true love never dies and if it does, it was never meant to be.”

On the work front, Akshay Kumar has several films in the pipeline. He will be seen in Bell Bottom, Sooryavanshi, Raksha Bandhan, Ram Setu, Atrangi Re and many others. Atrangi Re and Raksha Bandhan mark Akshay’s first collaboration with Aanand L Rai. While in Atrangi Re, Akshay will be sharing the screen space with Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan for the first time, in Raksha Bandhan, the actor will star yet again with Bhumi Pednekar. The two have previously shared the screen space in Toilet Ek Prem Katha.

Gwen Stefani And Blake Shelton Tie The Knot At Oklahoma Ranch: See Pics

Singers Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton got married in an intimate ceremony in Oklahoma, US. The wedding took place on July 3, eight months after the couple got engaged.

According to Page Six, the two tied the knot on Saturday at Blake Shelton’s Oklahoma ranch, where sources previously revealed to the outlet that he had built a chapel with the intention of marrying Gwen Stefani there.

The couple had their nuptials in a small intimate ceremony at a church built on the estate.

Taking to Instagram, she shared a series of pictures and penned a note.

The paparazzi also spotted Gwen’s parents, Dennis Stefani and Patty Flynn, guests and musicians boarding a luxury people carrier to take them to Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s Oklahoma wedding.

The wedding news came three days after People magazine reported that the much-in-love duo has applied for a marriage license in Oklahoma, the country where marriage licenses are valid for up to 10 days after the date of issuance.

The singers met at the sets of The Voice in 2015, where the couple bonded over their recent divorces–Blake from Miranda Lambert and Gwen from Gavin Rossdale.

In July 2015, Blake filed for divorce from Miranda Lambert, his second wife, after four years of marriage. Then, just weeks later, Gwen and Gavin Rossdale shocked fans by calling it quits after 13 years of marriage and three children.

The duo started dating in 2015, a few months after their divorces and made their relationship official in 2016 by walking their first red carpets as a pair. The couple got engaged in October 2020.

Meanwhile, during the last year, the two spent their entire quarantines together and even teamed up for Happy Anywhere in January 2020 and Nobody but You in July of that same year.

In October, Blake popped up the big question to Gwen. Taking to their Instagram handles, the couple shared a photo featuring themselves kissing each other as Gwen showed off her stunning ring.

As per People magazine, Blake asked the question “at his ranch in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, where the pair spent most of the lockdown during the pandemic,” and have finally got married at the same place.

Salim Merchant: “I Was Fortunate To Have Found Other Avenues”

A lot of musicians, of late, have talked about live shows being impacted during the pandemic. While all agree that earnings have been hit, composer-singer Salim Merchant says he has “fortunate” to have found other avenues.

“We are not just busy with live shows, there are recordings as well. We (Salim-Sulaiman) had a release recently on an OTT platform, Skater Girl. We did the music for that during the Covid lockdown. Apart from that, we also worked on another feature film. We have been able to do a lot of work,” he says.

And with unlock underway, both the audience and artistes, are prepping to step on the stage at some point. In fact, Merchant and his entire team have got vaccinated for that.

“Sulaiman and I got vaccinated first since we are above 45. The minute it opened up for 18 and above, it was so difficult to register. The band was literally together, opening their laptops and checking. Then they got slots. All of our team consisting of 17-18 people, including my help and driver have got it,” he shares.

The 46-year-old, who has worked on films such as Chak De! India (2007) and Kurbaan (2009), says that the whole period so far has had a lot of gloom attached, but he is “thankful” to have managed somehow.

“Honestly, not doing live shows has not been the biggest of challenge [for me]. Some of us lost some near and dear ones. I lose a very close friend of mine about a year ago. He didn’t die of Covid, but a bike accident. It was a very difficult time for us. Everybody lost somebody close to them, which has been a difficult thing,” he says.

The silver lining to this dark period was the duo getting the time to start their own music label. “I am fortunate we actually structured an entire music label of our own, which was a dream. We got the time to start that,” he gushes.

Shalmali: “I Can’t Explain My Excitement And Anxiety To Get Back On Stage For Live Gigs”

Singer Shalmali says people want to get together, but warns not to be hasty with decisions just for entertainment.

With things slowly regaining normalcy, Shalmali is also finding her way back to the stage for live gigs. The singer feels new rules, which restrict movement of the performer, are crucial to keep the musical rhythm flowing.

“We need to be mindful of social distancing and keep a mask on whenever we’re around people, even within the band. I generally don’t have anyone on stage other than the band and crew, and that’s more important now than ever before,” shares the singer, who has started live gigs but in a private setting.

She asserts that it’s important for musicians to not get adventurous and venture out or do any more than what they’re required to. “So basically, limit our movement as much as we can — from the airport to the hotel, to sound check and then the show and back home,” she adds.

Best known for crooning party chartbusters such as Balam Pichkari and Lat Lag Gayee, Shalmali is going through mixed feelings about getting back on stage after a brief pause.

“I can’t explain my excitement and anxiety to get back on stage. Especially since my body isn’t at its optimal strength post recovering from Covid-19 in April. So, I’m nervous about pulling off a two-hour show with choreography. But that’s what I live for. So, I’m looking forward to being on stage and in front of a live audience,” she admits.

The impact of the surge of Covid-19 crisis, and its resurgence, on the music industry was massive, and left a dent in the live music scene, but Shalmali isn’t complaining.

“It had to be done, in order for everyone to remain safe and for us to be able to achieve normalcy in the future,” she notes.

Asked if people will be hesitant to attend a live concert anytime soon, and the Kalle Kalle maker says, “No, in fact, people are waiting to be among people.”

She elaborates, “We need to be as cautious as possible and not be hasty with decisions that are purely for entertainment or luxury. Unfortunately, entertainment is a luxury and now isn’t the time for it. As much as it doesn’t help me to propagate this fact, it’s important for us not to rush into circumstances that can be detrimental to the general good.”
