Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India]: An earthquake of magnitude 3.6 on the Richter scale occurred on Monday at around 4.17 am in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu.According to the National Center for Seismology, the quake happened with a depth of 25 km. The epicentre of the quake was located at 59 km west south west of Vellore.Further details are awaited.
Chittagong [Bangladesh]: An earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter Scale struck east of Chittagong, Bangladesh on Friday morning.The quake hit 183 kilometres east of Chittagong at the depth of 60 km. “M6.0 #earthquake strikes 183 km E of #Chittagong (#Bangladesh),” said European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
Kabul [Afghanistan]: An earthquake of magnitude 5.0 on the Richter Scale struck Afghanistan near Fayzabad early morning on Tuesday.The National Centre for Seismology said that the earthquake occurred at 05:50 IST with a depth of 150 km nearly 106 km from Fayzabad, Afghanistan. “Earthquake of Magnitude:5.0, Occurred on 05-10-2021, 05:50:09 IST, Lat: 36.36 & Long: 71.31, Depth: 150 Km, Location: 106km SE of Fayzabad, Afghanistan,” the National Centre for Seismology said in a tweet on Tuesday.On September 3 also an earthquake of magnitude 4.0 on the Richter scale hit Fayzabad in Afghanistan.
Lanzhou, Aug 26: A 5.5-magnitude earthquake jolted Kazak Autonomous County of Aksay in northwest China’s Gansu Province at 7:38 a.m. Thursday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC). The epicenter was monitored at 38.88 degrees north latitude and 95.50 degrees east longitude. The earthquake struck at a depth of 15 km, the center said. According to Aksay county authorities, the epicenter of the earthquake was in a sparsely-populated pasture area, 130 km away from the county seat. No casualties or property loss have been reported.
Moscow, Aug 15 : A new 5.8 magnitude earthquake has hit Haiti, a day after a more powerful deadly tremor, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) said on Sunday. The earthquake was registered at 03:20 GMT, with the epicenter located 41 kilometers (25 miles) northwestern of the southern city of Les Cayes at a depth of 30 kilometers. On Saturday, Haiti faced a 7.2 magnitude earthquake that left more than 300 people dead and over 1,800 more injured.
Nisyros [Greece]: An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 jolted 29 kilometer south of Mandraki, Greece at 12.38 GMT on Tuesday, the US Geological Survey said. The epicenter, with a depth of 10.0 km, was initially determined to be at 36.357 degrees north latitude and 27.0363 degrees east longitude.
An earthquake hit Delhi-NCR late Monday night. The tremors were felt at 10.36 pm in Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Rohtak and more regions. The earthquake was measured 3.7 on the Richter Scale. The epicentre was traced to be near Haryana’s Jhajjar. There were no immediate casualties or damage reported. “Earthquake of Magnitude 3.7 hit 10-km north of Jhajjar, Haryana at 10:36 pm,” the National Center for Seismology (NCS) said in its last update. Earlier on June 20, an earthquake with a magnitude of 2.1 on the Richter Scale hit the national capital. There were no damage or casualties due to the quake.
