Prime Minister Modi to visit Uttar Pradesh, inaugurate Purvanchal Expressway

New Delhi [India] : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Purvanchal Expressway at Karwal Kheri in Sultanpur district on November 16.The inauguration will be held at around 1:30 PM, the Prime Minister’s Office said. After the inauguration, as per the PMO, PM Modi will also witness an airshow by the Indian Air Force on the 3.2 km long airstrip constructed on the Expressway in Sultanpur district to enable landing and take-off of Indian Air Force fighter planes in case of emergency.The 341 kilometre-long Purvanchal Expressway starts from village Chaudsarai, district Lucknow located on Lucknow-Sultanpur road (NH-731) and ends at village Hydaria located on National Highway number 31, 18 kilometres east of the Uttar Pradesh-Bihar border.The expressway is 6-lane wide which can be expanded to 8-lane in future. India to have world’s largest expressway

Bharuch (Gujarat) [India]: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari on Friday announced that the government is constructing the world’s longest highway, that is, Delhi-Mumbai Express Highway.Speaking at the event, Gadkari said, “The Expressway will be 1,380 km long and will go up to Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), But now, we are also planning to take it up to Nariman Point.” According to him, the project will get over by March 2022 and India will have world’s largest expressway.Earlier, it used to take around 48 hours to cover the distance between Mumbai and Delhi by truck and 24-26 hours by car. In a significant achievement, Maharashtra’s longest and widest road tunnel saw the light of day on the upcoming “Hindu Hridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg”, or the Greenfield project of Mumbai-Nagpur Super Communication Expressway, officials said on Tuesday. A huge roar of jubilation rent the air after the final blast on the tunnel, marking the culmination of hard labour under the ever-looming threat of the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown, by a team of engineers and workers of Afcons Infrastructure Ltd, Shapoorji Pallonji Group. “The tunnel is 7.78-km long, in two tubes with a total width of 35 metres (17.50 metres in each tube) located between Igatpuri (Nashik) and Vashala (Thane), in a thickly forested hilly region,” AIL Project Manager and Leader Sekhar Das told IANS.
