Amit Shah demands CBI probe in the murder of BJP worker in Bengal

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India]: Union Home Minister Amit Shah met the family of deceased Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) leader Arjun Chowrasia at Kolkata’s Kashipur on Friday.

Chowrasia was found hanging in Kashipur today morning. The police have not found any suicide note near his body. MHA has taken cognizance of the “murder” of the BJYM leader and has sought a report from the West Bengal government.

“BJP worker Arjun Chowrasia was politically murdered. BJP demands CBI inquiry into the incident. BJP neither fears nor believes in the politics of violence. TMC is conspiring to create an atmosphere of fear”, said Shah during his visit to Kashipur.

“According to his family, he was brutally murdered. Yesterday TMC government completed one year of its term and today political murders have started in the state. We have come across many examples of political violence, retaliatory killings and selective targeting of activists of the Opposition in Bengal”, added Shah.

Shah said that BJP condemns the murder of Arjun Chowrasia and it will ensure that the killer gets the harshest punishment.

“In no other province of the country, so many cases have been handed over to the CBI, but in Bengal it did. This shows that even the court doesn’t trust law and order and the police of West Bengal. Union Home Ministry has taken cognizance of the incident and has sought a report from the West Bengal government”, added Shah.

“I met the grieving family. His grandmother was also beaten”, said Shah.

BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul termed the BJYM leader’s death a “political killing”.

“Political Killings of BJP’S workers in West Bengal are not new and this has been happening for many years. A BJP worker was murdered when Union Home Minister Amit Shah is coming to Kolkata after one year. What message does CM Mamata Banerjee want to give to West Bengal? Whoever supports BJP, will they be killed?”, said Agnimitra Paul.

Meanwhile, Police removed protesters from the spot in Kashipur where BJP worker Arjun Chowrasia was found dead. The protesters were allegedly not allowing the body to be removed for postmortem.

“When an unnatural death occurs, Police take the body for investigation and postmortem. It’s a natural course of action. They have obstructed it with their bad intention of dirty politics. They’ve come from outside. So, we are strongly condemning it”, said Atin Ghosh, TMC MLA from Kashipur.

It’s worth mentioning that this is Amit Shah’s first visit to West Bengal after BJP lost the state Assembly polls in 2021. (ANI)

The Congress leader said that there are a lot of youngsters who want to work for the party and help it flourish and demanded that such youngsters should be given a decent space in the party.

“People who work at the rural level to strengthen the party should be given opportunities. It is poll time, go to villages, work hard in cities. As far as being upset is concerned, questions come up in a family and talks are held. I clarified earlier too to not spread rumours,” Patel added.

“Once again we remind you that we had pointed out to you on many occasions that the Kolkata Police is not capable to conduct such an election and above all are completely under the influence of the ruling TMC leadership. Our apprehension expressed to you was confirmed beyond doubt when at around 3:30 pm the Jt. CP (HQ) of Kolkata Police made a public announcement that the polls have been peaceful,” it added.
During Kolkata Municipal elections today, a crude bomb was hurled outside a polling booth injuring a voter. The incident took place outside Taki Boys School in ward 36 of North Kolkata today.
Polling took place at 4,959 polling booths in all 144 wards of Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) amid tight security and with COVID-19 protocols. The counting of votes will take place on December 21.

Kolkata civic polls: High-stake battle for TMC, BJP; 950 candidates in fray for 144 wards

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India]: High-stake battle is underway between BJP and TMC to gain control of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) in the civic polls on Sunday which will decide the fate of 950 candidates.
Polling is underway at 4,959 polling booths in all 144 wards of Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) amid tight security and with COVID-19 protocols. Began at 7 am, voting will continue till 5 PM on Sunday. The counting of votes will take place on December 21. Both the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) and its biggest opponent BJP have fielded their candidates in all 144 seats. When BJP this time is mainly focussed on youth candidates, lawyers and professors, TMC picked up relatives of ministers.
All the attention this time has been drawn by TMC candidate from ward number 73, Bhowanipore Kajari Banerjee, the sister-in-law of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Left and Congress who had fought the Assembly polls jointly have decided to contest the KMC polls independently.
Importantly none of the parties be it TMC, BJP or Congress, has announced the face for the post of Mayor.
The matter of security for conducting the KMC elections reached the door of Calcutta High Court to Apex Court. BJP sought deployment of central forces for the KMC elections citing that they do not have trust in the state police machinery.
However, the court turned down the plea for central forces.
Following the interim order of the Calcutta High Court, KMC elections are being held this time without any central force. The State Election Commission informed that adequate security measures have been put in place. Besides Kolkata and West Bengal police, the state’s armed forces are also deputed for the polling duty.
In the 2015 KMC polls, TMC won 114 wards while the Left bagged 15. BJP managed to win six wards, Congress five and others got three. However, many opposition councilors joined the ruling camp later.

The Prime Minister doesn’t come to House. We are not allowed to raise any issue of national importance. It is the unfortunate killing of democracy,” he said.
The Congress leader further called Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Rajya Sabha Chairman “just implementors” of a power that wants to steal farmers’ income.
“A minister killed farmers. The Prime Minister is aware of it. Inaugurating incomplete projects won’t help BJP expand voter base, says Mayawati

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India]: A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Kashi Vishwanath Dham, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati took a swipe at BJP saying that inaugurating incomplete projects “just before the announcement of Assembly Elections” won’t help the party expand its voter base.
“The back-to-back announcements, foundation stone laying of new projects and inaugurations of incomplete projects by Central and State Governments just before the announcement of the Assembly elections are not going to help that party (BJP) expand its voter base,” Mayawati said. PM Modi had inaugurated the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor project in his Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi on Monday.
Further, attacking the Samajwadi Party, she said, “No political party is going to benefit by inducting expelled, inactive, and selfish members of other parties, right before the UP Assembly Elections. The public does not view such parties and members in a good way.”
Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Digvijay Narayan Chaubey, expelled BSP MLA Vinay Shanker Tiwari and former MP Kushal Tiwari had joined the Samajwadi Party on Sunday.

“I hope that the alliance of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) will come to power in Punjab with the full majority in the next Assembly elections, under the leadership of Sukhbir Singh Badal,” she added.
Ahead of the Punjab Assembly election in 2022, Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal recently announced that if his party comes to power then the deputy chief minister will be from SAD’s alliance partner Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).
“A deputy CM will be from Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) if SAD-BSP alliance comes to power in the next Assembly elections in Punjab,” Badal said.

New Delhi [India]: The Supreme Court on Monday refused to entertain the petition filed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seeking deployment of Central Forces in the upcoming municipal corporation elections in West Bengal and asked the party to approach Calcutta High Court.

During the brief hearing, Singh told the Bench that there were widespread threats of violence and the BJP candidates were being threatened to withdraw from the contest in the municipal elections in Kolkata.
As BJP contended that the top court entertained a similar petition recently for the Tripura election, the Bench said if it starts entertaining petitions then people and political parties from across the country will start filing petitions directly in Supreme Court on panchayat and municipal elections.
On November 25, the top court had directed the Ministry of Home Affairs to provide two additional companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to secure the polling booths during the Tripura municipal elections after the opposition TMC and CPI (M) approached the apex court alleging that their candidates and supporters were not allowed to cast their votes.

Centre, BJP planning to ensure there is no caste-based census, says RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav

New Delhi [India]: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav on Saturday alleged that the Centre and the Bharatiya Janata Party are planning to ensure that there is no caste-based census.
He added that government might refuse but his party would make sure that a caste-based census is carried out. “Narendra Modi and BJP are planning to ensure that there is no caste-based census. The population of SC/ST has risen hence the government has to give jobs to them. The government might deny but we will make sure that caste-based census is carried out,” the RJD chief told media persons in Delhi.
Earlier on Thursday, RJD MP Manoj Kumar Jha moved a Zero Hour Notice in Rajya Sabha on the matter of ‘caste-based census’.
In his letter to Secretary-General of the Upper House, Jha said, “In order to ensure that Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas is a reality, we must urgently count the ladder of our social edifice and for that, it is important that Socio-Economic Caste Census be undertaken on priority and with urgency. While there is a strong possibility of sub-categorization of OBC, we need to have solid scientific data about the relationship between access to several resources vis-a-vis caste.”
He also said, “Denying a caste-based census is denying that a problem exists especially in a country where caste has become not only an identity but a way of life and it has stories of discrimination attached therein. A caste-based census will identify the wealth and education gap between the upper and non-upper caste groups relative to their population and assist in framing targeted policy interventions.”
Earlier on Tuesday, the Centre had said that it has not enumerated caste wise population other than Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in the census since independence.
In reply to a question in Lok Sabha, Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said that the castes and tribes which are specifically notified as Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs) as per the Constitution (Scheduled Castes) Order 1950 and the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order, 1950, as amended from time to time, are enumerated in the decadal Census.
Rai added that the Centre has not enumerated caste wise populations other than SCs and STs in Census since independence. The Census Schedule is designed in consultation with various stakeholders including Central Ministries.
The intent of the Government for conducting Census 2021 was notified in the Gazette of India on 28 March 2019.
However, due to the outbreak of Covid-19, the Census activities have been postponed.

Responding to a question on PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme, the Minister said, “It is a continuous scheme and the farmers have to verify themselves to get the benefits of the scheme”.
The Minister said the Centre has provided a sum amounting to around Rs 1.60 lakh crore to around 11.5 crore farmer families under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme so far.
Tomar said a total of 12.5 crore farmers have come under the ambit of the scheme as per the survey and 11.5 crore farmers have availed its benefit so far and the remaining farmers will be soon covered under it.
“Both the farmers and farming have grown towards prosperity since 2014,” said the Minister.
As per the Minister, the government has been running various awareness schemes to benefit the farmers under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme and almost all the farmers have been aware of it.
He further said that the Central government is committed to rolling out the promised sum under the scheme to the bank accounts of all eligible farmers who can register their names to the PM Kisan list to receive the benefits under the flagship scheme of the Central government.
He said the farmers have to register themselves in the farmers’ corner at the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana website for which Common Service Centres (CSC) have been authorised to provide help in each village to register all the farmers under the scheme.
Tomar said the “farmers of West Bengal” have also started registering themselves to the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme.
Small and marginal farmers in the country are given financial assistance of Rs 6,000 every year directly to the bank accounts of eligible farmers under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme. The sum is transferred in three separate instalments of Rs 2,000 each.
Farmers are awaiting the 10th instalment under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. So far nine instalments of the scheme have been credited to farmers’ accounts and the 10th instalment is likely to be credited around December 15.
The central government is set to release Rs 22,000 crore to the account of farmers as part of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi or PM KISAN Scheme soon.

The Prime Minister had also announced that the government will constitute a committee to work on a new framework for Minimum Support Price (MSP).
Farmers have been protesting against the government’s three farm laws since the Centre had passed the laws in 2020.
The Farm Laws Repeal Bill, 2021 seeks to repeal the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance, Farm Services Act, 2020, and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
The Farm Laws Repeal Bill, 2021 has been listed for introduction and passage. It is among 26 new bills on the agenda of the government.

BJP runs on cultural nationalism, democratic values while other parties function on dynasty : Nadda

Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh) [India] : Hitting out at the Opposition parties, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president JP Nadda on Monday said that BJP runs on cultural nationalism and democratic values while the other parties function on dynasty and vote bank politics.
Nadda was addressing the BJP booth president sammelan (convention) in Gorakhpur. Addressing party workers, Nadda said, “We should be proud that we are members of a party which has democracy at its core. It is the part where an ordinary worker coming from an ordinary family becomes the Chief Minister of the state and a worker like me becomes the president of the party.
“BJP runs on cultural nationalism. Other political parties run on dynasty. We have the ideology of ‘Sabka Saath’ and those people (Opposition parties) do politics only for ‘vote bank’,” he stated.
Hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Nadda said the BJP government put in its best efforts for the development of the state.
“Modi ji from the Centre has placed full blessings on Uttar Pradesh and Yogi ji has left no stone unturned for the development of the state. Uttar Pradesh is on the path of continuous development,” added the BJP chief.
Earlier today, Nadda offered prayers at Gorakhnath Temple. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was also present with him.
Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh are slated for early next year

No role of BJP in attacks on TMC, investigation underway, says Tripura Minister

Agartala (Tripura) [India]: The state’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has distanced itself from the attacks on Trinamool Congress workers and the house of TMC steering committee state head Subal Bhowmik in Tripura and categorically denied any involvement of BJP workers in the attacks.
The Party, on the other hand, accused the TMC of plotting everything in connivance with the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and Congress. The tensions in Tripura increased after violent incidents in the run-up to the elections to the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and 12 other municipal bodies slated for November 25.
Senior BJP leader and Minister of Higher Education Ratanlal Nath on Sunday said that CPIM, Congress and TMC hatched a well-orchestrated conspiracy to defame, demean and tarnish the image of Tripura at the national as well as the international level in order to show BJP in a bad light.
Addressing the reporters at BJP state headquarters late on Sunday night, Nath said, “BJP had already bagged 112 seats uncontested. In 222 seats, BJP is going to face opposition parties like CPIM, TMC and Congress in turns”.
“In this game plan, CPIM, Congress and Trinamool Congress are working all together. They are also going to stage a fresh drama in New Delhi by meeting union Home minister Amit Shah on the Tripura violence issue which is nothing but a mere attempt to hide their own shortcomings. The clandestine understanding among the opposition parties is visible and an open secret for all”, he added.
The minister said, “TMC which did not even have district or block committee in the state is trying to make a statement that they can defeat the ruling party. For that, they have taken a number of efforts which are against the interest of Tripura”.
“On several occasions, Sushmita Dev, TMC MP was seen making unparliamentary comments on CM Biplab Kumar Deb. Even Sayani Ghosh’s act during CM’s public meeting is also unacceptable. Their leader Bobby Hakim has also attacked our Chief Minister verbally with words that could not be revealed in such a platform,” the senior BJP leader pointed out.
On being asked about the visuals of people bearing BJP flags attacking the police station, Nath has categorically denied any involvement of BJP workers in the incidents but maintained that the police is investigating the matter.

Navjot Sidhu terms Imran Khan ‘elder brother’, BJP slams him

New Delhi [India]: Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu on Saturday stirred controversy after he ostensibly referred to Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan is his “elder brother.”
In a video shared by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Amit Malviya, Sidhu is seen being welcomed by a Pakistan official on behalf of Imran Khan. “He (Imran Khan) is my elder brother,” Sidhu is heard as saying.
Amit Malviya attacked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over Sidhu’s remarks.
“Rahul Gandhi’s favourite Navjot Singh Sidhu calls Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan his “bada bhai”. Last time he had hugged Gen Bajwa, Pakistan Army’s Chief, heaped praises. Is it any surprise that the Gandhi siblings chose a Pakistan loving Sidhu over veteran Amarinder Singh?” Malviya said in a tweet.
Congress MP Manish Tewari expressed his strong reservations over Sidhu’s remarks and said Imran Khan is “cat’s paw of Pakistani deep state ISI-Military combine” which carries out cross-border terrorism against India.
“Imran Khan may be anybody’s elder brother but for India he is that cat’s paw of Pak Deep State ISI-Military combine that drones arms and narcotics into Punjab and sends terrorists on a daily basis across LOC in Jammu and Kashmir. Have we forgotten martyrdom of our soldiers in Poonch so soon?” Tewari tweeted.
Punjab Minister Pargat Singh came in support of Sidhu and said that if Prime Minister visits Pakistan, then he called “Desh Premi (Country lover)” but Sidhu is being called “Desh drohi (anti-national).”
“When PM Modi goes (to Pakistan) he is a ‘Desh Premi’, when Sidhu goes, he is ‘Desh Drohi’…Can’t I call you a brother.. We follow Guru Nanak Dev’s philosophy,” the Punjab Minister told ANI.
At a press conference later, Sidhu did not give a direct answer to a question about BJP’s allegations concerning his purported remarks about Imran Khan.
“Let BJP say whatever they want,” he said.
Sidhu went to Darbar Sahib Gurdwara in Pakistan through the Kartarpur Corridor which was reopened earlier this week ahead of Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev.
He expressed happiness over its reopening and credited it to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistan PM Imran Khan.
“With the efforts of PM Narendra Modi and Pakistan PM Imran Khan, this has been made possible,” Sidhu said.
His visit came after a fresh tussle erupted in Punjab Congress following the exclusion of Sidhu’s name from Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi-led delegation comprising state cabinet ministers that visited the Kartarpur Sahib on Thursday.
The Kartarpur Corridor links Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan, the final resting place of Sikhism founder Guru Nanak Dev, to Dera Baba Nanak shrine in Gurdaspur district.
The corridor, which was opened in 2019, was closed in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sidhu had attended oath-taking ceremony of Imran Khan in 2018 and his hugging General Bajwa had created a major controversy.

“Govt not made attempts to be inclusive”

New Delhi [India]: Congress leader Shashi Tharoor slammed the government saying it has not made sufficient attempts to be inclusive and has not prioritized to take everyone along.
Speaking to ANI at the launch of his book Pride, Prejudice and Punditry here on Wednesday, Tharoor said, “This government has made insufficient attempt to be inclusive. When you are going to rule a country as large and diverse as India, you ought to be able to take everyone along with you. And I think it’s very evident that’s not being a priority for this government.” Tharoor hit out at the followers of Hindutva including Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that one cannot imagine them doing any of the things Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel did.
“Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was Gandhian, now present Prime minister and his party is trying to appropriate Sardar Patel’s legacy, but he (Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel) was very much a Gandhian and he was somebody who felt that moral principle should be infused in politics,” he said.
Tharoor further said that Sardar Patel went all his way to protect Muslims from communal violence during the partition.
“He was very angry about the treatment of Hinduism in Pakistan at that time but he felt the moment Hindu misbehaved against Muslims, they forfeited the moral claim to take any hostile action. This kind of thing is very Gandhian way of looking at relations between the communities, for example, he went all his way to protect Muslims from communal violence during partition,” he said.
Asked about his idea about Hinduism that he also mentioned in his book, the Congress leader said that Hindu is told to find their own truth and they seek it inside themselves.
“I have so been very clear and consistent. I’m Hindu and I have no hesitation in talking about my faith and believes. But I believe it is an intensely personal thing. Hindu is told to find their own truth and we seek it ultimately inside ourselves, we don’t look for it outside. The very notion of a personal truth also admits the existence of other truths,” he said.
Further talking about Hinduism, Tharoor said Hinduism is very different from Hindutva which is a political ideology.
“I’m trying to say in my writing there is very open expensive respectful Hinduism of diversity and pluralism of acceptance of other points of view and at the same time Religion, philosophy of doubt of uncertainty questioning of interrogation. It is very different from Hindutva which is a political ideology that actually believes in the statute it is like the team identity of the British football hooligans saying this is my team if you support other teams I will hit you on your head. That to me is not Hindu dharma,” he told ANI.
He also said that there is a need to draw a sharp distinction between religion and politics.
“We have to draw a very sharp distinction between religion and politics one hand and between Hinduism as a spiritual question enquiry and the seeking of the truth and Hindutva as a political ideology which is about community and identity, not at all about spirituality,” the leader said.

Kejriwal slams BJP, Congress over criticisms of AAP’s free electricity promise in Goa

Sattari (Goa) [India]: Delhi Chief Minister and AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal slammed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress for criticizing him over his declaration of distributing free electricity in Goa saying, ministers get 3,000 units free electricity and if I want to give 300 units to citizens then what is wrong with it?
“BJP and Congress say that Kejriwal is distributing everything for free. I want to ask each and every leader that every minister gets 3,000 units of free electricity every month and if I want to give 300 units free every month to my citizens then what is wrong with this?,” Kejriwal said on Tuesday. “Why are leaders hurting by this? Politicians are hurting because with these schemes all of their corruption money will end,” he added.
Kejriwal has promised to provide 300 units of free power to the people of Goa and also offered to waive off old electricity bills if they come to power in the next assembly elections.
AAP’s supremo remarks on Tuesday came while he was addressing a gathering in Sattari, Goa after inducting BJP leader Vishwajit K Rane into Aam Aadmi Party.
Rane had unsuccessfully contested from the Poriem Assembly constituency in 2017 against Congress leader Pratap Singh Rane. Several leaders have joined the AAP in the run-up to Assembly elections next year.

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India]: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Chief Revanth Reddy slammed the Centre and state government for “being irresponsible in purchasing paddy.”
Reddy questioned the state Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and said why the government is not spending money on paddy? He criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) saying “both are one.”

Nehru was fondly called ‘Chacha Nehru’ and was known for emphasizing the importance of giving love and affection to children.
After the death of Nehru, it was unanimously decided to celebrate his birthday as ‘Bal Diwas’ or Children’s Day in India.

Centre should discuss Punjab affairs with state government or all political parties, not just BJP, says AAP

New Delhi [India]: After a Punjab BJP delegation went to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the reopening of the Kartarpur corridor and other issues, the Aam Aadmi Party said that all parties should have been part of the delegation or the state government should have held these talks.
“The affairs of Punjab should be discussed with the state government or with all political parties of the state. It is meaningless to discuss the issues with a number of elected MLAs or leaders and especially those whom the people of Punjab do not allow to enter their villages. It is dishonesty. It is a part of the election strategy,” AAP national spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj told ANI. “There are elections in Punjab within the next three months. the Prime Minister’s Office will try to save its credibility in those elections,” he added.
Reacting to Sonu Sood’s recent announcement that his sister would be joining politics, he said, “Sonu Sood remained in the headlines during Corona. He did a lot of work for the migrants. If his sister wants to join politics, then it is her personal matter. The leadership of Punjab will decide whether she will contest from the Aam Aadmi Party or not. He is the brand ambassador of the Delhi government’s mentor program in the country, and we have benefited greatly from his arrival.”
Reacting to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s BJP JAM vs SP JAM statement, Bhardwaj said, “As we have seen in Bihar and Bengal, in every state where the BJP contests, the real issues are made to disappear before the election, and by using such frivolous discourse, the election narrative is made light and ugly. BJP would like such issues to dominate, but I think the main issues should not go astray. Akhilesh Yadav too should not let them go astray.”
“I understand the ideology of the BJP. They are actually changing the names which come from Persian or from Urdu. He changed the name of Mughalsarai, changed the name of Allahabad. I was looking on Google that the word Shah is a Persian word. The kings of Iran used to use it. Today big leaders of BJP put Shah with their name. This name is not of Indian culture. I am ready to have a debate on this,” he added.
Earlier today, ahead of the 2022 assembly polls, Punjab BJP leaders on Sunday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital.
As per party sources, many important issues like farmers’ protests, upcoming assembly polls, and Kartarpur Corridor were to be discussed in the meeting.
Earlier on November 7, Ashwani Sharma said that the party will contest all 117 seats in Punjab in the upcoming Assembly elections.
Earlier on Saturday, Union Minister Amit Shah made an interesting wordplay to distinguish the present Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government from the previous Samajwadi Party (SP) regime in Uttar Pradesh.
Addressing a public rally here, Shah said that while government ushered in a positive ‘JAM’ that is J for Jan Dhan account, A for Aadhar Card, M for mobile phones, the SP had riled the state with another JAM – J for ‘Jinnah, A for ‘Azam Khan’ and M for ‘Mukhtar’.

Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India]: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday alledged the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have “hijacked” meaning of “Hindutva and Hinduism”.
While speaking to the media in Jammu, Mufti said what BJP and RSS are propagating is not “Sanatan Dharma”. “Real Sanatan Dharma does not teach us communalism, it teaches inclusivity. RSS and BJP have hijacked Hindutva and Hinduism in the name of their parties. They feel Hindutva and Hinduism are the BJP and RSS, but it is not so.”
She further compared RSS and BJP with Islamic State (ISIS), and said, ” Communal parties can be compared with IS (Islamic State). Parties that want clashes between Hindus and Muslims can be compared not only with ISIS but also with other similar organisations as they kill people in name of religion.”

Assembly polls 2022: BJP to reach out to women voters in Punjab, Manipur, Goa

New Delhi [India]: Ahead of the 2022 Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party has chalked out a strategy to reach out to women voters for poll-bound states of Punjab, Manipur and Goa by creating awareness regarding various Central government schemes and welfare measures.

In Punjab, the party will target women involved in the agriculture sector. “They understand the value of Rs 6000 per year. Even when cultivation takes place normally, women pledge their gold. Now women don’t have to do that. We would like to connect with them,” stated Vanathi Srinivasan, President of BJP Mahila Morcha.
In Goa, where most women are involved in the service sector, there will be an attempt to empower them through government schemes like Start up India and Skill India. “Focus will be to ensure these measures reach out to self-help groups and start ups,” she said.

In Uttarakhand, self-help groups that are involved in procuring forest produce through the Van Dhan Yojana.

In Manipur, the party will highlight the development in North East with the region having its own Council. Infrastructure is a big plank alongwith better accessibility through road development.

“Tourism has improved, agriculture produce from Northeast gets GI tags as well,” added another senior leader.

These states are scheduled to go for Assembly polls in early 2022.

Bharatiya Janata Party is also drawing an ambitious plan to woo women voters’ in Uttar Pradesh through the plank of women’s safety, women’s empowerment and improved law and order situation in the state during the tenure of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The BJP will organize women sammelans to discuss and debate the situation of women’s safety during the Yogi Adityanath government’s tenure. Named “Kamal Shakti Samvad”, the party has shortlisted “nau sthan” (nine places), taking a cue from nine “shakti roops” of Goddess Durga. (ANI)

BJP brands us as anti-nationals when we question Centre, says Telangana CM

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India]: Lashing out at the BJP-led Centre, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday said that the party labels those who question them as ‘anti-national’ or as ‘urban Naxals’.
While addressing the media here, Rao said, “When we speak about petrol and diesel prices and question the Centre, they brand us as anti-national. BJP also brands people as urban naxals if they speak against them. Is BJP a factory for manufacturing anti-nationals?” “If anyone doesn’t support you (BJP), then you attack them (opposition) with Income Tax Department and Enforcement Directorate raids, but I am not afraid,” he said.
“I’m asking a simple question: Will the Centre buy the state’s parboiled rice or not?” he added.
Rao said the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) will organise dharnas in all Assembly Constituencies on November 12, with lakhs of farmers demanding the Central government to procure entire Kharif (summer or monsoon crop) paddy produced in Telangana.
Lambasting Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay again, Rao said, “What has he done for the state to question me? We’ve provided jobs to 1.35 lakh people in the state and will give 70,000 more jobs.”
“We are ready to face any enquiry,” he said in reply to Sanjay’s allegations.
The Chief Minister further said that if only the Centre reduced cess on petrol and diesel, petrol will cost Rs 77 per litre.
“According to the studies, the unemployment rate in Telangana is low. What about the Centre’s promise of providing 2 crore jobs?” Rao asked.
“BJP leaders have turned a blind eye. Telangana is the only state that gave water connection to every house. The state is far better in economical growth, job creation and development,” he added.
Referring to the Telangana Sheep Distribution scheme, Rao said, “I will resign from the post of CM immediately if you prove that the Centre has given money for it. We took a loan for the sheep scheme at the National Co-operative Bank. We are returning the amount with interest. It is not right to tell lies,” Rao said.
The Chief Minister also alleged that the Centre did not help Telangana during the COVID-19 pandemic and claimed that it was the only state to support its hospital staff when coronavirus was first reported at a private hospital.
Further, Rao alleged that the Centre had deliberately ignored 50 applications of Navodaya schools.
Not mincing his words, Rao claimed that BJP is the party in the country that spends the highest in the elections.
Directing his words at the BJP, Rao said, “In our cabinet, we have leaders who are qualified and capable. We have given our land for projects.”
“Our boss is the people of Telangana; we take orders from them. Whatever it takes, we are honest with the people of our state,” he added.

BSP slams UP CM over “Talibani mindset”

New Delhi [India] : Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on Tuesday slammed Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for his “Talibani mindset” remark, and accused him of “creating conflict in the name of religion”.
Talking to ANI, BSP spokesperson Sudhindra Bhadoria further alleged that both BJP and Samajwadi Party (SP) are doing politics of religion in the state ahead of Uttar Pradesh assembly polls in 2022. BJP and SP are doing politics in name of religion. As the state assembly election is coming nearer, these people started creating conflict in the name of religion,” said Bhadoria when asked about UP Chief Minister’s statement in Kairana.
The BSP leader further asked, “are they (BJP and SP) raising issues like unemployment, hunger and farmers problems? or were they simply creating conflict?”
“This is fatal and the public will not accept it,” he added.
Earlier on Monday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath invoked the “exodus” of Hindus from Kairana a few years back, and said that all those people who support the Talibani mindset will be dealt with strictly by the state government.
Addressing a rally in Kairana in the Shamli district, the Chief Minister said, “All those people who support the Talibani mindset in the state will be dealt with strictly by the Uttar Pradesh government. Talibani mindset should not be accepted. It should not be tolerated. Those who support this are driving society into the pre-historic era. The basic rights of citizens are violated with this mindset. Those who follow their religious beliefs blindly, follow the Talibani mindset. Such activities will not be tolerated.”

“No right to celebrate democracy”

Panaji (Goa) [India]: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar on Monday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which has been “butchering democracy on daily basis”, has no right to “Celebrate Democracy” through the initiatives like Women’s Parliament.
Addressing a press conference at Congress House in Panaji, Chodankar said, “BJP which is killing democracy and democratic institutions on daily basis, has no right to celebrate democracy. This exposes the doublespeak of the BJP.” Referring to the Women’s Parliament, Chodankar said that the Leader of Opposition was not given due respect in the event. “He should have been prominently involved in the event being Leader of Opposition but the entire event was hijacked by BJP to please their workers at taxpayers’ money, he said.
His remarks came after the BJP-led Goa government began celebrating its 60th year of liberation on Monday. The state government celebrated democracy and organised the National Women’s Parliament on November 8 to groom women leaders about the opportunities available for them at both state and Centre levels.
The GPCC Chief said that BJP has also acted in an undemocratic way when it stole away the mandate given to Congress by people after the 2017 assembly election. “In the democratic process, people had given their mandate to Congress but BJP stole it overnight,” he said.
“The Speaker of Legislative Assembly allowed BJP to do midnight dacoity and when we filed disqualification petition, he took 20 months to decide on it. He decided after Supreme Court intervened and that too he gave the order legalizing the illegal merger,” he added.
He said that BJP in the centre and the state have repeatedly disrespected democracy.
Chodankar said that the Legislative Assembly Session was held only for 88 days during the last five years. “For a healthy democracy, they should have held Assembly Session, at least for 200 days,” he said.

Telangana CM insulted Indian armed forces, alleges BJP

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India] : Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader NV Subhash alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has insulted the Indian armed forces.
“BJP state president Bandi Sanjay and the Telangana BJP condemns Rao’s statement for insulting the Indian armed forces and favouring an enemy nation over a border issue,” Subhash said. “KCR must have lost his patience because he could not take defeat by BJP in Telangana’s bypoll election. Therefore, he not only commented on the BJP chief but also condemned the army. For his petty politics, KCR is trying to dishonour the memory of late Colonel B. Santosh Babu of the 16 Bihar Regiment, who sacrificed his life in protecting the sovereign Indian borders at Galwan,” he said.
Speaker further, the BJP leader said, “KCR must apologise to every single serving officer, Jawans, and retired veterans of the Indian armed forces.”
“If he does not do this, the BJP will punish KCR for his unacceptable words and every single patriotic Indian will ensure he is punished,” he said.
KCR should realise because of the armed forces, all people including him sleeping peacefully, he added.
“What kind of a sick mentality is this? Such kinds of statements are unacceptable. Every true patriotic citizen of this country should condemn KCR,” he asked.

Congress slams Centre for Suicides

New Delhi [India]: The Congress slammed the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre for the death of over 9.5 lakh people in the last seven years who allegedly committed suicide, saying it came to power with the promise of ‘Acche Din’ but forced people into “suicidal hopelessness”.
The opposition party also said that farmers were forced into committing suicide and in the past 7 years due to the “crony capitalist friendly and anti-farmer” policies of the Modi government. Citing the recent National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) report on “Suicides and Accidental Deaths in India”, which states 9,58,275 Indians ended their lives by committing suicide between 2014-2020.
Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala in a statement said that there was an increase of 55 per cent in the number of students committing suicide, 58 per cent increase among the unemployed, and 139.37 per cent increase among farmers, labourers and daily wagers and overall the number of suicides across categories increased by 16.24 per cent, as per the report.
“The report, with its figures regarding suicide, underlines the unprecedented tragedy that is ruining India. Hapless citizens, being ground under extreme apathy and insensitivity of the government, are losing the last hope and taking their own lives. Be it ‘annadata’ (farmers), toiling labourers, daily wagers, housewives or unemployed educated youth, it is a saga of unending hopelessness all across. Opportunities for the aspiring have been converted into cesspools of suicidal depression,” said Congress spokesperson.
“During the last 7 years Between 2014 -2020 the failed and insensitive policies of the Modi government pushed 9,58,275 Indians into ending their lives by committing suicide. Today in an attempt to mask its failed anti-people policies the government is nakedly resorting to perpetuating divisiveness, negativity, hopelessness amongst the people,” he said.
Surjewala further said that the NCRB data displays the ‘Yamlok Sidhar’ picture of the government rather than that of ‘Lok Sudhar’.
He said that farmers were forced into committing suicide and in the past 7 years due to the “crony capitalist friendly and anti-farmer” policies of the Modi government, 78,303 farmers committed suicide of which 35,122 were farm labourers.
The Congress leader said that there was an increase of 19 per cent in the number of suicides from the year 2019 to 2020. The government literally forced the farmers into committing suicide, citing the rising input costs, absence of minimum support price (MSP), and Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana which benefited private insurance companies and finally the three “black” farm laws as the main reasons.
“Even as students and unemployed are forced into committing suicide, India’s future is nothing but dark. During the Modi government’s tenure from 2014 to 2020, 69,407 students were forced to end their lives,” he added.
Surjewala further citing the OXFAM report said that the hundred richest Indians wealth was increased by 13 lakh crores while the 12 crore Indians lost their jobs.
He further said that 1,52,127 housewives committed suicide between 2014 to 2020.
The rate of suicide in India has gone up by 16 per cent in 2020 in comparison to the year 2014, he added.

Congress leader Dasoju Sravan also said, “BJP during the 2014 elections led by Narendra Modi has made eloquent promises including that if they come to power every year two crores of jobs will be provided which means by now 16 crores of jobs would have been created.”
“Both PM Modi and KCR have cheated unemployed youth of Telangana,” he said.
Speaking further, Sravan said, the demonetisation and lockdown have also created havoc on individuals’ life and many people lost their livelihood.
As per the unconfirmed information, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the state on November 12. Commenting on this, Congress leader Sravan said when PM will land here, the party will massively protest in front of him and raise the issue of unemployment.
“We will make Prime Minister listen to the pain of the youth,” he added.

They should reduce base prices and restructure taxation,” he said while adding that the non-BJP states don’t even get their original dues.

Kochi (Kerala) [India] : A couple of days after the Central government reduced the excise duty on petrol and diesel, BJP in Kerala has demanded a reduction in value-added tax (VAT) on fuel by the CPI-M-led state government.

On November 3, on the eve of Diwali, the Central government had reduced excise duty of Rupees 5 and Rupees 10 on petrol and diesel, respectively.
Surendran further said, “We, the Kerala BJP, strongly condemn the inhuman and adamant stand of Pinarayi Vijayan for not reducing the taxes on fuel. We demand Vijayan should follow the NDA way to reduce the taxes. The State Govt is not even ready to reduce a single penny on fuel prices. So our agitation is continuing all over the state. We will continue our agitation against the Pinarayi Vijayan’s anti-people stand.”

New Delhi [India] : Congress leader and former MP Rashid Alvi on Friday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his visit to Kedarnath temple ahead of Uttarakhand Assembly elections.
“Whenever there is an election, the Prime Minister remembers gods and temples. Faith should not be used for politics and BJP uses it for political gain,” said Alvi. Earlier, Congress leader Harish Rawat said PM Modi’s visit to Kedarnath was for marketing BJP and making a political speech.
Rawat, after offering prayers at the Tilbhandeshwar temple in Haridwar, said, “The PM has come here for giving a political speech. He has come for his party’s marketing. We see Jyotirling in our Shiva temples. We see God Kedar in our Shiva temples. We are going to pour water at Shiva temples. In the entire state, Congress workers are pouring water in Shiva temples. They are doing so in the 12 Jyotirlinga temples. We are praying for maintaining peace and communal harmony in the country and that democracy should be safeguarded.”
Earlier in the day, PM Modi offered prayers at the Kedarnath temple in Uttarakhand and unveiled an Adi Shankaracharya statue. He also inaugurated several redevelopment projects worth Rs 130 crore.
The Uttarakhand Assembly elections are due early next year.

‘Defeat BJP to reduce fuel prices’

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India]: After the Centre reduced the excise duty on petrol and diesel, Shiv Sena leader and Member of Parliament Sanjay Raut on Thursday said that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has to be defeated completely to reduce the fuel prices by Rs 50.
Talking to ANI, Shiv Sena leader asked, “Is the Central government making fun of the people? The prices of petrol and diesel have gone beyond Rs 100, the government has taken advantage of lakhs, crores of rupees in the national treasury and now when the elections are coming, the government has reduced the petrol price by Rs 5.” “On the occasion of Diwali, you would have reduced at least Rs 25-30 on the excise duty, then we would have realised the government has done something.”
Raut said that the Central government has larger responsibility of reducing the prices of petrol and diesel.
“After BJP lost by-poll elections, they reduced the fuel prices by Rs 5, now think about how many times we have to defeat BJP to reduce the prices by Rs 50. BJP has to be defeated completely to reduce the fuel prices by Rs 50. After 2024, this day will surely come,” he said.
In a significant decision, the Centre on Wednesday reduced excise duty on petrol and diesel to bring down the prices of the two petroleum products which had been seeing an upward trend.
The relief to consumers came on the eve of Diwali. The Finance Ministry said that excise duty on petrol will come down by Rs 5 and that on diesel by Rs 10 and it will be effective from Thursday.
It urged the states “to commensurately reduce” VAT on petrol and diesel to give relief to consumers.

‘Will petroleum prices come down to 2014 level’

New Delhi [India] : Congress on Wednesday took a jibe at the central government, saying that the reduction in excise duty of petrol and diesel has been “tom-tommed” as a Diwali gift but it has come after BJP lost several seats in bypolls to assembly and Lok Sabha seats, whose results were announced on Tuesday.
Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala accused the government of resorting to “jumlas” and asked when will petroleum prices come to the level in 2014. Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said that the BJP-led government had hiked excise on petrol by Rs 32.90 and Rs five reduction announced on Wednesday had brought it down to Rs 27 per litre. He said excise on diesel had been brought down from Rs 31.80 per litre to Rs 21.80 per litre.
Surjewala, who made a series of tweets, said that excise on petrol was Rs 9.48 per litre and that on diesel was Rs 3.56 per litre when Congress-led UPA was in power.
“Kudos to People for showing the “mirror of truth” to tax-parasitic Modi Govt! But do remember – In May 2014, Price of Petrol was Rs71.41 – Diesel was Rs 55.49/litre but Crude Oil was Rs 105.71/Barrel. Crude Oil is $82/Barrel today. When will the prices equate year 2014?” he said.
“Congress Govt-: Excise on Petrol – Rs9.48/litre Excise on Diesel – Rs3.56/litre Modi Govt -: Excise on Petrol – Rs 32.90- Rs 5.00= Rs 27.90/litre excise on Diesel – Rs 31.80- Rs 10.00= Rs 21.80/litre Modi ji, Nation doesn’t need “Jumlas”, Roll Back the draconian Tax Hike!” he added.
Surjewala said BJP lost assembly bypolls on 14 seats.
“Pl see the Jumlas of “Modi-nomics”! In Year 2021, Price of Petrol were hiked by Rs 28 & Diesel by Rs 26/litre. After losing 14 bye elections & 2 Lok Sabhas, reducing Petrol-Diesel price by Rs 5 & Rs 10 is tom-tommed as ‘Diwali Gift’ of Modi Ji! Hey Ram….. #Petrol #Diesel” Surjewala said.

Captain Amarinder Singh is having seat-sharing talks with ‘anti-farmer BJP’, says Congress leader

Chandigarh (Punjab) [India]: Attacking former Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh, who resigned from Congress and formed a new party, state Transport Minister Amarinder Singh Raja on Tuesday said Captain is having seat-sharing talks with “anti-farmer Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)”.
“Dear Capt Amarinder Singh Sahab, in your letter to Congress President you cited Punjab Congress Chief Sardar Navjot Singh Sidhu ‘Hugging’ Pak Army Chief and Pak PM as your reason to leave the party. (But) you now are ‘Seat Sharing’ with Anti-Farmer BJP,” tweeted the minister. Earlier on Tuesday, former Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh resigned from the Congress and announced a new party ‘Punjab Lok Congress’ ahead of Punjab Assembly elections.
In his resignation letter to Congress Party President Sonia Gandhi, Captain called Navjot Singh Sidhu as “an acolyte of Pakistani deep state”.
“Despite my profound reservations and over the unanimous advice of almost all the MPs from Punjab, you chose to appoint an acolyte of Pakistani deep state Navjot Singh Sidhu who had publicly hugged the Pakistan Army Chief Gen Bajwa and Prime Minister Imran Khan, as the President of the Punjab Congress Committee,” he said.
Singh had resigned in September as the chief minister and had announced that he will be quitting the Congress after months of a rift with Congress state chief Navjot Singh Sidhu.
Last week, Captain reiterated that after launching his party he will hold talks for seat-sharing with BJP for the upcoming state Assembly polls.
“I will hold talks for seat-sharing with BJP, breakaway Akali factions and others for Punjab elections once farmers’ issue is resolved. I want to build a strong collective force in the interest of Punjab and its farmers,” Captain Amarinder Singh had said.

West Bengal govt intimidating BJP leaders to join TMC

Indore (Madhya Pradesh) [India] : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya on Tuesday accused the TMC-led West Bengal government of intimidating its leaders to make them join the TMC.
Vijayvargiya said, “Many cases are being filed against BJP leaders in West Bengal. There are almost 120 fake cases on BJP MP Arjun Singh, there are 20 cases against me too. Now how can anyone survive when the government starts killing the opposition like this? “Those who are joining TMC in Bengal are forced to join,” he added.
Vijayvargiya, who was also in charge of BJP during 2021 assembly polls in West Bengal said that the question of winning and losing arises where elections are held in a free and fair manner, not in a place where “police, goons and political parties work in nexus for booth capturing.”
“Victory and loose comes in when elections are held in a free manner not where booths are captured. Police, goons and political parties work in nexus there therefore there are no elections. They (TMC) snatch seats by capturing polling booths,” Vijayvargiya said while replying on TMC’s lead in West Bengal by-polls.
BJP leader also said that the results of by-polls show people’s confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“If we look at the election results of the whole country, then the opposition which made farmers’ movement an issue has failed. NDA is leading everywhere, be it Madhya Pradesh, Bihar or Assam, this shows that farmers have given their support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” said Vijayvargiya.
Reacting on Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s campaign in Uttar Pradesh, BJP leader said, “Congress is completely finished over there. Surely Priyanka Gandhi is working very hard but it is too early to say whether this will be converted into votes or not. The country has rejected the Congress.”

Priyanka Gandhi’s plans for women in UP

New Delhi [India] : Ahead of the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls, women top the agenda for Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi.
After the announcement of giving 40 per cent tickets to women, Priyanka Gandhi has made several promises to cater to half of the population i.e. women voters. Congress is preparing in a big way to fulfil Priyanka Gandhi’s agenda for women in UP.
Acting on the agenda, Priyanka Gandhi will be holding a town hall with women in Lucknow on November 13.
According to sources, over 7,500 women workers are being trained as the “Ladki Hoon Brigade”. At the time of announcing 40 per cent of tickets to women, Priyanka Gandhi had given the slogan “Ladki Hun Lad Sakti hun”.
Congress is planning to reach five crore women regarding the announcements made for them.
Congress is also preparing a separate manifesto for women, major points of which Priyanka Gandhi has already announced.
Other than giving 40 per cent tickets to women, Priyanka Gandhi has also promised that if the Congress government is formed in Uttar Pradesh, women will be given three LPG cylinders free of cost annually.
She has also promised that women will be given the facility of free travel in government buses of the state, and the girl students there would be given a smartphone and scooty.
Other major points announced in the manifesto include an honorarium of Rs 10,000 per month to ASHA and Anganwadi workers, the appointment of women to 40 per cent posts according to the provisions of reservation, offering pension of Rs 1,000 to old widows, and opening of 75 skill schools across Uttar Pradesh which will be named after brave women of Uttar Pradesh.
On these promises, the Congress is going to run a public relations campaign on a large scale among women.
Apart from focusing on women, Congress is also going to organise 100 town halls after the Congress Pratigya Yatra to make announcements like two million government jobs and loan waiver of farmers to the common people.
In these town halls, various sections and issues of the society will be discussed.
Congress has been waiting for three decades to return to power in UP. This time the party has thrown full force to achieve it.
In-charge Priyanka Gandhi is leading in an aggressive manner on every front.
The Congress, which has lost its support base and caste equation in the last elections, is relying on Priyanka’s face and the power of women voters.
If you look at Priyanka Gandhi’s UP tours so far, her direct connection with women is visible. That is why Congress feels that women can be influenced by rising above the caste barriers and the party, which is marginalized in the state, can get electoral life.

Attempts were made to forget Sardar’s contributions

Narmada (Gujarat) [India] : In a veiled attack on Congress, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said that attempts were made post-Independence to forget Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and his contributions, but the situation has changed as the world’s tallest statue is a testimony of the changed realities.
“Unfortunate attempts were made to forget Sardar Patel. After independence, his contributions were never given due respect. He was neither given Bharat Ratna nor proper respect. The situation has changed. He was given Bharat Ratna and this world’s tallest statue is before us to see,” Shah said while addressing the ‘Rashtriya Ekta Divas’ (National Unity Day) programme at Kevadia in Gujarat’s Narmada district to mark Sardar Patel’s 146th birth anniversary. “When there was a change in the country in 2014, the government was formed under the leadership of Modi ji, then it was decided to celebrate October 31 as National Unity Day. Sardar Patel, who is credited with uniting all 562 princely states of the pre-independent country to build the Republic of India, passed away on December 15, 1950.

Will hold seat-sharing talks with BJP soon, says Captain Amarinder Singh

Chandigarh (Punjab) [India]: Former chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Saturday reiterated that he will soon launch his own party and hold talks for seat-sharing with Bharatiya Janata Party for the upcoming state Assembly polls.
“I will soon launch my own party and will hold talks for seat-sharing with BJP, breakaway Akali factions and others for Punjab elections once farmers’ issue is resolved. I want to build a strong collective force in the interest of Punjab and its farmers,” Captain Amarinder Singh said today. ‘BJP failed to fulfil promises ‘

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], October 30 (ANI): Ahead of the 2022 Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday accused the BJP-led state government of failing to fulfil the promises they had made to the farmers in their election manifesto.
“It seems that BJP made its manifesto and threw it in the trash because they never turned through its pages. They forgot their own manifesto. They had promised that by 2022, the income of farmers will be doubled and a roadmap will be prepared for that. Today the farmer in Uttar Pradesh wants to ask, till when their incomes will be doubled?,” said Akhilesh. Yadav also alleged that the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government in the state has failed to make timely payments to the Sugarcane farmers as they had promised in their manifesto.
Raising the issue of paddy procurement on Minimum Support Price (MSP), he said, “Farmer was assured that paddy will be procured on MSP. Today, paddy is ready. But the government has failed to provide the MSP to the farmers. Moreover, they have also failed those farmers who suffered losses due to heavy rains by not giving them any compensation for that.”
Yadav alleged that the government stopped making new Mandis and closed down the existing ones.
“They talked about improving the agriculture infrastructure. Farmers now want to know how much the Mandis has improved and how many good works and decisions have been made for the improvement of agriculture infrastructure,” he added.
He also alleged that BJP had betrayed the people in Bundelkhand, a region that he said that ‘put its trust in BJP’.
“Bundelkhand is still lying dry, a drought-like situation is there,” he added.
Taking further shots at BJP, he questioned them that what it had done with the 20 thousand crore rupees it had planned to use for setting up an irrigation fund.
Pointing out government’s failures in dairy industry, he added, “Samajwadi Party set up plants of 5 lakh litres per day in Lucknow and Bhognipur. A lot of money was given to improve existing plants in the budget. But today in Amul plants, milk from Gujarat is used, not that of our own farmers in UP.”
He asserted that his party will form the government after 2022 assembly polls.
“The slogan of Yogi ji will go from ‘Mera Pariwaar, Bhaajpa Pariwaar’ to ‘Mera Pariwaar, Bhaagta (running) Pariwaar,” he remarked.
Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections are scheduled to take place early next year.

“Congress equals to scams”

Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India] : Hitting out at the Congress, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said that the grand old party is synonymous with corruption and scams and its leaders always turn down promises.
Shah, while speaking at the inauguration event of ‘Ghasiyari Kalyan Yojana’ here, challenged Uttarakhand’s former Chief Minister Harish Rawat to an open debate over the promises made and fulfilled by Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and said that his party has fulfilled around 85 per cent of promises made in its manifesto. “Congress is synonymous with corruption and scams. The party do not bother about the development of any state. Congress always turns down its promise. Congress only does appeasement and cannot do any welfare work for Uttarakhand,” the Union Minister said.

“The Congress leaders could not be been seen during COVID-19, floods in the state. But when elections are around they emerge and start doing press conferences,” he said.
Shah further lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and said, “Only BJP government under the leadership of PM Modi can work for the welfare of the poor and provide good governance to the country. Uttarakhand has seen overall development in the last four years. BJP is committed to the development of the state under the leadership of CM Pushkar Singh Dhami.”
“I challenge Harish Rawat Ji to an open debate on the promises made and fulfilled by Congress and BJP in their respective election manifestos. The BJP has fulfilled around 85 per cent of promises made in its manifesto,” he added.
Shah also informed that PM Modi would be visiting the Kedarnath Dham on November 5, where he will be inaugurating an idol of Adi Shankaracharya.

Rahul Gandhi In Goa, attacks BJP for Fuel Price Rise:

The Congress leader is in the coastal state for a day-long visit ahead of assembly elections due early next year.

Panaji (Goa) : Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today hit out at the BJP on increasing fuel prices. He pointed out that crude oil prices were much higher when the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) was in power and yet, people are forced to pay more now when fuel prices in the international market are lower.

“During the UPA government, international fuel prices reached $140 per barrel. Today, fuel prices are much lower in the international market but still, you pay more. Today India is taxing fuel at the highest rate in the world,” he was quoted . The Congress leader is in the coastal state for a day-long visit ahead of assembly elections due early next year. Many experts have also suggested that India lower its taxes on fuel, which at around 54 percent is one of the highest in the world.

Mr Gandhi also launched a veiled attack at businessmen who are seen as close to the Prime Minister. “If you look carefully, there are 4-5 businessmen who are benefitting from this,” he reportedly said.

Fuel prices in India have seen an almost continuous hike in prices recently, and the opposition parties have been quick to criticise the BJP-led government for it. Consumer fuel prices continued to surge to record high levels on Friday, October 29, for the third straight day. In the national capital, petrol and diesel rates soared 35 paise to cost ₹ 108.64 and ₹ 97.37 per litre respectively, according to Indian Oil Corporation.

Petrol now costs 37.52 per cent more than the price at which aviation turbine fuel (ATF or jet fuel) is sold to airlines. ATF in Delhi costs ₹ 79,020.16 per kilolitre or roughly ₹ 79 per litre.

The Congress leader also claimed that his party has delivered on what they promised in their manifestoes while asking for people’s votes. “We fought elections in Chhattisgarh and promised to waive the loan of farmers and we did it. You can go and confirm it in Punjab and Karnataka as well. Whatever goes in our manifesto is a guarantee, not only a promise,” news agency ANI quoted Mr Gandhi saying.

Mr Gandhi’s Goa visit comes days after Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee started her three-day visit to campaign for her party in the state.

Farmers are watching arrogance of the government, says Priyanka Gandhi

New Delhi [India]: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday highlighted the various issues of farmers in Uttar Pradesh and said that on one hand, the farmers are dying standing in the queue for fertilizers in Bundelkhand while on the other hand, MoS Ajay Mishra Teni, father of Ashish Mishra who is an accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident, is standing on the stage of Lucknow with the Home Minister.
Vadra added that the farmer of the country are watching the arrogance of the Uttar Pradesh government. “Here in the entire Bundelkhand, farmers are giving their lives standing in line for fertilizer. There in Lakhimpur a minister’s son crushes several farmers with a jeep and his father is standing on the stage of Lucknow with the Home Minister. The farmer of the country is watching your arrogance,” said Vadra in a tweet (roughly translated from Hindi).
Congress general secretary Vadra met the families of four farmers who allegedly fell ill and died while waiting in the queue for purchasing fertilizers. The Bundelkhand region is facing agricultural fertilizer scarcity.

“SP, BSP, Congress destroyed UP”

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India] : Slamming the Opposition parties in Uttar Pradesh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday alleged that Samajwadi Party (SP), Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) and Congress had “destroyed” the identity of the state and Yogi Adityanath government has given the state a distinct identity under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Union Home Minister on Friday launched ‘Mera Parivaar-BJP Parivaar’ membership drive in Lucknow as the BJP gears up for the assembly polls early next year. “Samajwadi Party, BSP, Congress had destroyed the identity of Uttar Pradesh. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modiji, the Yogi Adityanath government has given a distinct identity to the state,” he said.
He said the state has made rapid development strides under BJP rule.
“Before 2017, Uttar Pradesh was the seventh-largest economy of the country, today it has become the second economy of the country. Akhilesh babu’s state budget was Rs 10 lakh crore. Yogiji has kept an interim budget of Rs 21.31 lakh crore.” Amit Shah said.
He said there was forced migration from parts of Uttar Pradesh during the rule of non-BJP parties and those responsible for it have themselves migrated now.
“Today no forced migration takes place from Uttar Pradesh. Those responsible for it have themselves migrated. Today there are no Bahubalis. This change is because of the BJP government,” Shah said.
He further said that unlike the opposition, the BJP has proved that its governments work for the poorest of the poor.
“People who were sitting at home for the last five years are coming out thinking their government will be formed. I want Akhilesh Yadav to tell the people of Uttar Pradesh that for how many days he was staying abroad. Where was he during the COVID and floods? They only worked for their family,” he said.
The Union Home Minister said that the BJP government in the state had fulfilled 90 per cent of promises made in the 2017 manifesto and the remaining 10 per cent would also be completed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the next two months.
The BJP won a landslide victory in the 2017 assembly polls.
