NCB Bengaluru busts drug trafficking network; four arrested, including Nigerian national

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India] (ANI): The Narcotics Control Bureau’s (NCB) Bengaluru Zonal Unit has busted a drug trafficking network dealing with multiple drugs in Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu and arrested four people including a Nigerian national.On January 17, the NCB said it seized drugs such as 84 grams of cocaine, 40 grams of MDMA, small quantity of hashish and ganja at Electronic city, Bengaluru from the possession of a Nigerian national and three peddlers. Karnataka government order bars doctors from spreading misinformation about Covid-19

Karnataka logs 14,473 new COVID-19 cases in last 24 hours

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India] (ANI): Karnataka logged 14,473 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, said the state government on Wednesday.With this, the active caseload in the state mounted to 73,260. Karnataka reports 8449 new COVID-19 cases, 4 deaths in the last 24 hours

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India]: Karnataka reported 8449 new COVID-19 cases and four deaths in the last 24 hours, the state health department informed on Friday.With the addition of new cases, the cumulative case tally in the state mounted to 30,31,052, of which 30,113 are active cases. Gold worth Rs 61 lakh hidden under aircraft seat seized at Bengaluru airport

Bengaluru (Karnataka) : Gold worth Rs 61 lakh was recovered from under a passenger seat of an Indigo flight that landed in Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), Bengaluru from Dubai on Saturday.The customs officials are yet to reach a conclusion whether a passenger abandoned the gold or left it for another gang member to collect it later. The Bangalore Customs Division Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) suspected gold smuggling on the plane during inspection after the flight (6E 096) touched KIA from Dubai.During the inspection, a packet was found under an economy class seat and it contained 29 gold sticks besides gold paste.A further inspection revealed that gold sticks in the packet weighed 599 gm and gold paste weighed 701 gm. Karnataka administered 29 lakh COVID-19 vaccine doses on Friday, 1.68 lakh doses yet to update on CoWIN portal

Mangaluru: The maiden run of two Vistadome coaches attached to Mangaluru Junction-Yeshwantpur Weekly Express Special–the first of its kind service in South India–was flagged off on Sunday. Largest single-day swoop down operation on ‘goondas’ in Bengaluru; weapons, marijuana seized

Describing it as the largest single-day swoop-down operation in the history of Bengaluru policing, Bengaluru City Police commissioner Kamal Pant on Saturday said police across the city conducted raids on the houses of 2,144 criminals and interrogated 1,548 people in the last 24 hours. Pant told reporters that in this operation the entire force has seized 91 weapons – swords, machetes, knives and other lethal weapons, 12 kg marijuana and mobile phones from these notorious criminals. A snapped parachute belonging to ISRO’s National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) in Hyderabad was recovered from an open field in Basavana Bagewadi in Vijaypura district of Karnataka, the police said on Saturday. “We found the snapped parachute and some equipment in an open field belonging to Eeranna Kambar, a resident of Kannal village in Basavana Bagewadi, on Thursday morning,” an officer told IANS. Kannal is a small hamlet in Vijaypura district located 505 km from Bengaluru, and 380 km from Hyderabad. The police said they had established contact with the phone numbers printed on the equipment and the people concerned had asked the police to forward everything recovered from the field to NRSC with adequate precautions. “The equipment had ISRO’s Hyderabad address. Karnataka decided to resume free distribution of milk powder- Ksheera Bhagya- temporarily to school children enrolled in all government schools across the state aimed at boosting their immunity levels. According to the circular issued by the government on Friday late night, this free distribution of milk scheme- Ksheera Bhagya- would be resumed temporarily. “Each school student from class 1 to 10 will receive a supply of free 500 gm milk powder for two months, June and July,” the circular stated.
