The rally was organised in light of upcoming assembly elections in the state slated for 2022. He said, “The Goans has already tried Congress for 27 years, MGP and BJP for 15 years. This time Goa should give a chance to AAP and Goans would see a noticeable difference. Kejriwal took a dig at BJP, says the BJP government in Goa is full of diamonds.
“Every other minister is involved in some or other scandals or scams. Goa is a first-class state with absolutely third-class politicians. Goa deserves much better politicians and AAP is the only hope. We don’t understand politics, we only know to work. AAP came here to bring a change and to clean up dirty politics of which Goans are fed up,” he said.
Taking a jibe at Congress, he said, “Five years ago there were 17 MLAs in the Congress shop and 15 of them were sold. There are only two left in the store today. This stock will also be clear within two months and new stock will come again in March”.
“This nexus of Congress Janta Party has hurt the people enough. Goa has a history of horse trading and defections. To resolve the problem, Aam Aadmi Party candidates will sign a legal affidavit; promising not to switch parties. They will distribute it among Goan voters, assuring them they won’t jump to another party. If they do, voters can take legal action”, he added.
“Goa will have a corruption-free government if AAP is voted to power,” he said.

This is the beginning of Goa’s political cleansing,” he said.

AAP govt will provide all benefits that a minister gets to common people, says Arvind Kejriwal

New Delhi [India]: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday hit back at Opposition parties for calling his schemes freebies and said that “his government will provide all the benefits that a minister gets to common people”.
Addressing the AAP’s legal cell annual programme in Delhi today, Kejriwal said, “I am happy that this team started with only two to four members but now there are many members in the team. In 2019, we introduced a scheme for Delhi’s advocates in which we give them medical and health insurance.” “During the COVID-19 pandemic, the lawyers of Delhi got the benefit of this scheme. There are about 122 lawyers who succumbed to coronavirus infection. Their families got Rs 10 lakh each as life insurance. About 1,210 lawyers got infected with COVID-19. Their expenses were borne by the Delhi government,” the AAP National Convener said.
He further stated that Delhi is the only place where the lawyers get this scheme. “Hopefully, it will start in other states as well. People spread the false notion that it was started for only one year and will be closed, but it is not so. As long as our government is here, the scheme will continue,” he added.
Hitting back at the Opposition parties for calling his schemes freebies, Kejriwal said, “The Opposition parties opposed this schemes. They called it freebie. They asked why are you doing it for advocates who are very rich.”
“I would like to ask them that why do they think that advocates are rich. They must have seen a few rich advocates in movies only. Advocates struggle throughout their life to earn fame and money,” Kejriwal said.
Further, he asked, “I ask the ministers who is paying for their treatment? Their treatment is free. They don’t ask anything when they get these benefits for themselves. Then they even ask from where this money comes for the free scheme.”
“I would say that if one becomes an MLA, then he would have around 10-15 crores money, 3-4 bungalows, and many more things. I am using that money for the welfare of people. I will provide all those benefits to common people which a minister gets,” he added.

New Delhi [India]: Delhi Petrol Dealers Association has written a letter to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal urging him to reduce value-added tax (VAT) in the national capital, stating that a higher tax on fuel is resulting in losses to petrol pump owners and may adversely affect the revenue of Delhi.
Speaking to ANI on Wednesday, Anurag Narain, president of the association, said, “We appeal to CM Arvind Kejriwal to cut VAT in Delhi as we are incurring a loss. Kejriwal raises concern about Delhi’s air quality, says AQI ‘severe’

New Delhi [India]: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday raised concerns about the air quality of the city.
Taking Twitter, the chief minister said Delhi Air Quality Index (AQI) on Tuesday is 404, which falls under the ‘Severe’ category. “On November 9, AQI 404 (401 to 500 – Severe), PM10 – 414 (351 to 430 – Very Poor) PM2.5 – 265 (Above 250 – Severe),” tweeted Kejriwal.
According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), winds coming from the northwest direction at 925 millibars (mb) are favourable for the transport of stubble related pollutants to Delhi.

Increasing frequency of mechanised cleaning of road and sprinkling of water on roads, identifying road stretches with high dust generation, ensuring that all brick kilns remain closed in Delhi-NCR as per the directions of National Green Tribunal were some of the measures mentioned in the CPCB order copy.
The official notification further asked the officials concerned to ensure that all hot mix plants and stone crushers in Delhi-NCR remain closed. It further directed to maximise the generation of power from existing natural gas-based plants to reduce the operation of coal-based power plants in the NCR (Badarpur power plant already shut down).
“Intensify public transport services. Introduce differential rates to encourage off-peak travel. States to disseminate information about air pollution levels and for creating awareness among citizens regarding steps to minimize air pollution,” read CPCB’s directions.

This portal is going to bring even the smallest of the businesses of Delhi to a global scale. Even someone sitting in America will be able to virtually walk around the Hauz Khas market and buy something from the shops there. This will all be direct to the consumer, you can search for a certain shop or a product and all options will be there in front of you.”
Highlighting the business to business aspect of the portal, he said, “Suppose some businessperson from the UK wants to buy Indian antiques, they can go to our portal, look for the antiques and order in bulk quantities as well. Say the person needs 200 or even 1000 antiques, they will directly be able to reach a business of Delhi and it through the portal.”

The Delhi Bazaar portal will help you explore the markets around your locality and let you know everything you need to know about the shops in your radius.”
The portal will further make it possible to hold unique online exhibitions, instead of limiting an exhibition to a fixed area and a fixed number of people, this portal will promote endless opportunities for even the most niche products. Today, when one goes to shops and looks for variety, after a point even the salesperson gets tired of it. On this website, one can scroll through the entire inventory and cataloguing of all the shops of Delhi at a quick glance while at the comfort of your home.

I am of the view that this is a one of a kind initiative and there’s no such avenue available across the world yet. All the services and products of Delhi would be listed on the Delhi Bazaar portal and no matter where the person is sitting they will be able to buy it.”
The initiative would bring a huge rise to Delhi’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), tax revenues and economic activities and even produce new job opportunities as well.
The Chief Minister said that the target for the launch of the portal would be August, “I reviewed the progress of the portal yesterday and looking at the quantum of quality and ease we are looking to provide, we have kept a target of August for its launch.”

New Delhi [India] : Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said that the ‘Red Light on, Gaadi off’ initiative will once again begin from October 18 to reduce the pollution level in the national capital.
“We had started the ‘Red Light on, Gaadi off’ initiative last year. This will begin again from October 18, as soon as you stop at a Red signal, turn down the engines of your vehicle. You can begin today itself, though it will be formally launched on 18,” said Kejriwal. The Delhi Chief Minister urged people not to take the vehicle at least once a week and travel on the metro, bus or share vehicles with others.
“We should decide to not take out our vehicle at least once a week and travel on the metro, bus, or share vehicle with others. Experts say that if we do this, pollution can be brought down and fuel can be saved,” he said.
He further asked people to download the Green Delhi app and complain against the industry or vehicle that is causing pollution.
“If you have not downloaded the Green Delhi app, do it. If you see pollution anywhere in Delhi -a truck causing air pollution, any industry that is causing pollution, waste being burnt- you can complain through the app. Our team will reach the spot and stop the source of pollution,” he added.

AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal to visit Ludhiana

New Delhi [India], September 29 : The Delhi Chief Minister is scheduled to meet some industrialists and businessmen in Ludhiana at 4 pm today. Kejriwal is scheduled to address a conference at 11 am on Thursday in Ludhiana, where he will unveil the roadmap of the AAP in providing employment to the youngsters of Punjab.
Kejriwal’s visit to Punjab comes a day after Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Navjot Singh Sidhu resigned from the post. It is expected that the AAP convenor will comment on the recent turmoil in the Punjab Congress.
AAP has been critical of Sidhu in the recent past and recently called him anti-Dalit.
After Sidhu’s resignation as Punjab chief on Tuesday, AAP national spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj had called him anti-Dalit and said the Congress leader could not tolerate a Dalit – Charanjit Singh Channi – becoming the CM.
In June, as a part of its poll promises in Punjab, scheduled in 2022, the AAP chief had announced 300 units of free electricity.

Kejriwal is fraud, given free electricity to only 5 pc people in Delhi: Punjab Cong leader

Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], September 29 : As Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is on his two-day visit to Punjab, Congress leader Raj Kumar Verka on Wednesday slammed the AAP leader and said Kejriwal is a fraud and given 200 units of free electricity to only 5 per cent people of the national capital.
Ahead of the second meeting of the state cabinet in Chandigarh, he told the media, “Kejriwal is a fraud. He has given 200 units of free electricity to only 5 per cent of Delhi’s population. Here, we are holding discussions for the welfare of people.” On the resignation of Navjot Singh Sidhu, and on the turmoil in Punjab Congress, he said, “I advise Sidhu Ji to be with the Congress and work with us. We assure Sidhu that we will resolve the matter.”
Meanwhile, a day after resigning as the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee chief, Navjot Singh Sidhu stated that he cannot compromise with his ethics, moral authority and pointed out that he didn’t want a “repeat of a system of tainted leaders and officers in the state”.
Sidhu’s resignation as state party chief has intensified the crisis in the Punjab Congress and triggered discussions and deliberations in the party. A minister and three Congress leaders, considered close to him, stepped down from their posts delivering.

Assembly polls 2022: Arvind Kejriwal to visit Goa today

New Delhi [India]: Delhi Chief Minister and National Convener of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Arvind Kejriwal is scheduled to visit Goa on Monday, where assembly polls are due next year.
Kejriwal’s visit to Goa carries significance as AAP is gearing up for setting its foothold in the poll-bound state. Recently, after AAP received a notice from Enforcement Directorate, the Delhi Chief Minister had tweeted, “In Delhi, they tried to defeat us with IT Dept, CBI, Delhi Police– but we won 62 seats. As we grow in Punjab, Goa, Uttarakhand, Gujarat– we get an ED notice! The people of India want honest politics. These tactics of BJP will never succeed. They will make us stronger.”
During his stay in Goa, the Delhi Chief Minister is also scheduled to address a press conference and make important announcements during his visit to the poll-bound state.
Assembly elections in Goa, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Manipur are scheduled to take place in early 2022.

Don’t aspire for political positions : Kejriwal

While welcoming new members to the National Council of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday, the party’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal urged them not to aspire for political positions.

New Delhi [India], September 11 : “In AAP, never aspire for the position. We have to work hard for the welfare of the people. You should derive pleasure from work,” he said to the new members via video conferencing. “Your work should be such that the party requests you to take charge of a position instead of you asking for it. You are not worthy of a position if you have to ask for it,” Kejriwal added.
He further noted that when people become greedy, then they cannot be of service to others. “The greed for position needs to be gotten rid of,” he said.
Laying emphasis on the party’s image, Kejriwal said, “I do not want to see a day when people compare us to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) or the Congress. This is not what we formed the AAP for.”
Kejriwal also said that the “ultimate ideal” of the party is freedom fighter Bhagat Singh and the chief architect of the Indian Constitution Dr BR Ambedkar.
“Every worker and leader of the party needs to be ready to make sacrifices like them,” said the AAP chief.

Arvind Kejriwal: The decade’s biggest political story

By Subhro Majumder

When Arvind Kejriwal first made his mark in India’s public life, he was seen as a well-intentioned, sincere civil society activist, using the Right to Information Act to empower citizens.

When Kejriwal truly became a visible public figure, as a leader of the India Against Corruption (IAC) movement, he was seen as an angry disruptor. He was channelling the fury that many felt at the infirmities and the corruption in the system; he was also providing a tangible solution by suggesting that having a strong Lokpal would tackle this systemic issue.

When Kejriwal set up a political party, became chief minister, went on dharna, contested against Narendra Modi in Varanasi, and attempted to expand the party nationally, he was seen as a bit of an anarchist, whose ambitions far outstripped his party’s base and experience. He hunkered down, went back to the basics, and won Delhi in 2015.

When Kejriwal decided to confront the Centre on governance issues in Delhi, oppose demonetisation, and take on the Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janata Party coalition in Punjab, where he finished a distant second to the more established Congress, he came across as a strident Modi critic who had slipped away from the focus on governance in the city where he was elected.

To his credit, Kejriwal learned from all these episodes — and the public perception around it — to evolve. He also, possibly, looked at what other chief ministers who had been successful, and had retained power, were doing. From 2017, his politics has been different. His leadership style has both seen elements of continuity, but also a degree of rupture. And this has paid off now, with the Delhi CM re-elected for his third term in office.

What, then, are the components of this leadership model?

The first is complete control over the party. The AAP began with Kejriwal as the face, but also as a political formation that relied largely on collective decision making, with a set of other prominent leaders such as Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav. But Indian politics is largely driven by personality-based formations where it is a single leader who drives decisions.

Be it the current BJP, where Narendra Modi or Amit Shah are in the driving seat, or the Congress, which is a party where the word of the Gandhi family is supreme, or a range of regional satraps — from Nitish Kumar to Mamata Banerjee, from Stalin to Naveen Patnaik, from the Badals to Sharad Pawar — the party is of the leader. The AAP is Kejriwal’s party, and those who have a problem with that, can find other alternatives.

The second element is recognising the power of the media. Kejriwal was among the first leaders, when he was leading the Anna Hazare agitation, to sense both the power of television and social media. His was the politics of theatre, which appealed to television audiences. His party, like the BJP, was as active on all social media platforms – Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp.

Over the past year, Kejriwal has kept up this engagement with media, to broadcast his message with striking regularity and precision. What helps is Kejriwal’s entirely distinctive style, which is conversational; this allows common citizens to relate with the CM. The third element is messaging, and keeping the message simple.

Kejriwal recognised that, as an incumbent, negative politics and just blaming the Centre would not work. Instead, he carved out a positive platform based on microeconomics, almost like Narendra Modi did in 2019. This involved improvement in public schools, public health, provision of water and electricity at subsidised rates, and free public transport. The specific elements of the governance campaign were weaved under the framework of projecting the AAP as a force which delivers development and governance.

This welfare model is not unique — from Patnaik in Odisha to the Dravidian parties in Tamil Nadu, a range of formations have attempted it. But the singular focus on health and education helped the AAP stand out as a party that cares. It was, therefore, usual to hear on Delhi streets, in the run up to the election, a common refrain: “Kejriwal ne kaam toh kiya hai” (Kejriwal has got work done). The message hit home.

The fourth is the decision not to take on the BJP on the question of national leadership. The resounding mandate in favour of Narendra Modi in 2019 convinced Kejriwal that if the contest became a PM versus CM contest, he would be at a disadvantage. And that is why he made a conscious attempt over the past nine months to not be seen as aggressively confronting Modi — a major departure from his politics of five years ago. This was aimed at winning the support of those who may have voted for Modi in 2019, but could be brought back to the AAP since they may not be a committed voter segment of the BJP. The ploy worked. If AAP went up from its 18% vote share of 2019 to over 50% now, the decision not to take on Modi — even as the BJP made the PM the face of the campaign — worked.

The fifth is the decision to assert his religious faith and nationalist identity. Quite early on, during the Anna agitation, Kejriwal was careful to stay away from a paradigm which could come across as “anti-national”.

Remember the “Bharat Mata ki jai” chants in Ramlila Maidan. As the BJP successfully painted one opponent after another as anti- Hindu and, by extension, anti-Indian, Kejriwal carefully sought to ensure that he did not get placed in the same pigeonhole. Be it his recitation of the Hanuman Chalisa, his visit to the Hanuman temple, his advertisement of organising pilgrimages for the elderly, his tweets against Pakistan, his support for the nullification of Article 370, Kejriwal played with the same textbook that the BJP had used adroitly.

There were two moments which could have derailed his plans, though: the violence in Jawaharlal Nehru University, when AAP leaders, despite pressure, decided not to visit; and the Shaheen Bagh protests, especially after deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia expressed his support for the protests. But Kejriwal immediately got into damage control mode, took charge of the messaging, placed the onus on Amit Shah to clear the protests, and stayed away from the site himself.

It is this combination — of control over his party, the recognition of the media as an important tool of communication, the power of simple messaging, which is positive and revolves around delivery rather than being merely a critique of the opposition, keeping the focus local rather than confronting the PM, and proudly asserting one’s own religious faith and nationalist identity — which explains the new Kejriwal school of leadership. It is an example many regional leaders will soon seek to emulate.

Commenting on Kejriwal’s mode of functioning and leadership, Neelanjan Sircar, political scientist associated with Ashoka University and the Centre for Policy Research, said, “Kejriwal is following a trope that has been taken up by many regional leaders who came up in the 1990s — a charismatic leader that demonstrates control over media and state machinery. He has benefited from a city-state in Delhi… Kejriwal’s innovation is to distil this strategy without an explicit identity-based or language-based appeal. He has demonstrated the success of a version of politics that does not rely on identity, or at least a version of identity that does not descend into identity politics explicitly…”

The Congress is planning to hold press conferences across India over the Centre’s National Monetization Pipeline. The press conferences will take place between August 31 and September 3.

Kejriwal launches ‘Faceless Transport’

New Delhi [India]: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal launched faceless transport services in Delhi on Wednesday.
Under this initiative, 33 transport services will go completely faceless and online from today, except for driving tests and fitness tests for vehicles. During the launch, Kejriwal locked the doors of the IP Estate Regional Transport Office (RTO).
“After the introduction of faceless transport services, Delhi government has shut down its four RTOs. Apart from the IP Estate RTO, RTOs in Sarai Kale Khan, Janakpuri and Vasant Vihar have also been closed,” Kejriwal said.
On the occasion of the launch, the cheif minister also recalled the hardships faced by citizens in availing of transport services and how his government started bringing reforms in this area.
“Earlier, gaining transport services used to be an issue of concern. People used to get tensed about approaching so many people, middlemen. They also had to consider taking a holiday for these purposes. But in 2015, our government started some minor reforms. In 2018, we started doorstep delivery of a variety of services, which was a revolutionary reform. Our agents came at people’s doorsteps and helped them out with procedures and got services delivered at their home,” recalled Kejriwal.
He termed faceless transport services as a revolutionary step for 21st Century India.
“It is a revolutionary step. There will be no files, no offices anymore. Everything can be done through a computer from one’s house. There is no need to approach brokers and middlemen too. People will have to come to the office for driving tests and vehicle fitness tests though. It is a big step for India in the 21st Century. It will soon happen all over India. As Transport minister said, that true independence will be obtained the day people are free from offices, middlemen, queues and files,” Kejriwal said.
Chief Minister also added that work was going on in other departments to make services online and faceless.
Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot was also present at the launch. He said these services will soon be available all over India and highlighted the success of its trials.
“We started its trials from February 19. More than 3 lakh requests were handled in the last five months of the trial with a success rate of more than 80 per cent,” Gehlot said.
The Transport Department of the Delhi Government has issued standard operating procedures (SOP) detailing how these faceless services can be availed. The SOPs also contain the name of all services.
Any person with an Aadhaar card can use these services. Know Your Customer (KYC) can be completed through a One-Time Password. Documents and e-sign can be verified through Aadhaar authentication.
Those who do not have an Aadhaar card can apply online. But it will be necessary for them to upload documents, photos and signatures. An e-learner licence can be obtained through an online test. In the first phase of application, applications will be screened, documents will be verified and then it will be approved by the motor licensing officers or motor vehicle inspector for further processing.

“I spoke with the family… they want justice and nothing else. They’re saying justice is not being given to them and that they should be helped. We will do that. I said ‘I am standing with you. Rahul Gandhi is standing with them until they get justice’,” Gandhi told .

“Dalit’s child is also the nation’s daughter,” he tweeted in Hindi with the screenshot of a news report of the incident.

On August 2, Police arrested four suspects including the priest after the victim’s mother identified them. The culprits should be given capital punishment at the earliest. Going to meet the victim’s family tomorrow, will do everything possible to help the family in this fight for justice,” Kejriwal tweeted in Hindi.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra condemned the incident and said there is ‘jungle raj’.

The Delhi on Wednesday flag concern about vaccine shortage amid the third wave of coronavirus and fight against the Delta plus variant of the virus. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said the supply of vaccines is almost over in the national capital.

“After tomorrow most of the centers will not have the vaccine. Hopefully, by then the quota for July comes, otherwise, we will have to stop the vaccination,” Manish Sisodia said.

Earlier on Tuesday, to ensure that the “high-speed vaccination” process continues, the Delhi government had requested the centre to replenish the Covid vaccine stock in the national capital before the current stock runs out.

As of Tuesday morning, Delhi had a stock of 5.25 lakh vaccines including 3.75 lakh doses of Covishield and 1.5 lakh doses of Covaxin.

Meanwhile, the Centre on Wednesday said that states and union territories will receive over 24 lakh COVID-19 vaccine doses within the next three days.

The new phase of universalization of COVID-19 vaccination commenced on 21st June 2021. The vaccination drive has been ramped up through the availability of more vaccines, advanced visibility of vaccine availability to States and UTs for enabling better planning by them and streamlining the vaccine supply chain.
