Suresh Gopi-Jayaram-Manju Warrier’s ‘Summer in Bethlehem’ To Get A Sequel

Blockbuster Malayalam movie ‘Summer in Bethlehem’ will be soon getting a sequel. Producer Siyad Koker, who had bankrolled the film, has recently confirmed the same. Though he didn’t divulge much about the sequel, the producer has confirmed that Manju Warrier will be starring in the sequel! The producer was attending the teaser release event of Manju Warrier’s upcoming film ‘Meri Awas Suno’. Siya Koker shared that Manju Warrier is a family friend, and their bond dates way back, however, he had only associated with the actress for one movie – Summer in Bethlehem. And added that Manju Warrier will be a part of the sequel, and also revealed that he is in talks with filmmaker Sibi Malayil about the same!

‘Summer in Bethlehem’ released in 1998, was one of the career-defining projects of Manju Warrier. Written by Ranjith and helmed by Sibi Malayil, ‘Summer in Bethlehem’ had an ensemble cast of Mohanlal, Suresh GopiJayaram, Manju Warrier, among others. Suresh Gopi, Jayaram, and, Manju Warrier played the lead roles, while Mohanlal appeared in an extended cameo role. Actors late Kalabhavan Mani, Janardhanan, Sukumari, Mayoori, Sangeetha, Manjula, and Augustine, played some of the supporting roles in the film.

The film spoke about the friendship between Dennis and Ravishankar. Suresh Gopi and Jayaram played the roles of Dennis and Ravishankar respectively, while Manju Warrier essayed Abhirami. From the Kannada dialogue, which eventually became a catchphrase to the songs, ‘Summer in Bethlehem’ was celebrated by the movie buffs for all the right reasons.

The latest announcement has left the Mollywood cinephiles elated, and we can’t wait to see if most of the original cast including Suresh Gopi and Jayaram would be reprising their roles or not!

On the other hand, Manju Warrier will be next seen in Prajesh Sen’s ‘Meri Awas Suno’ wherein she will be essaying the lead role alongside Jayasurya.
