  • Ronaldo slams Ballon d’Or chief over Messi ‘lie’
New Delhi [India]: Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo has hit out at Ballon d’Or chief Pascal Ferre for claiming that the Manchester United star told him that he wished to retire with more Ballon d’Or than the Argentine superstar Lionel Messi. Ronaldo posted a lengthy statement on Instagram, saying that he does not wish to win more Ballon d’Or than Messi and his goal is just to make his team win.“Today’s outcome explains why Pascal Ferre’s statements last week, when he stated that I confided in him that my only ambition was to finish my career with more Golden Balls than Lionel Messi. He used my name to promote himself and to promote the publication he works for. It is unacceptable that the person responsible for awarding such a prestigious prize could lie in this way, in absolute disrespect for someone who has always respected France Football and the Ballon d’Or,” said Ronaldo. “And he lied again today, justifying my absence from the Gala with an alleged quarantine that has no reason to exist. I always want to congratulate those who win, within the sportsmanship and fair-play that have guided my career since the beginning, and I do it because I’m never against anyone. I always win for myself and for the clubs I represent, I win for myself and for those who love me. I don’t win against anyone. The biggest ambition of my […]

Bengaluru now have 4 points from 3 games but Blasters still remain winless. Marco Pezzauioli, on the back of the 3-1 defeat at the hands of Odisha, brought in more creativity with Iman Basafa slotting into midfield. Cleiton Silva returned to lead the line. Blasters too had a couple of changes. Puitea featured alongside Jeakson Singh in a double-pivot role as Alvaro Vazquez replaced Jorge Pereyra Diaz.Bengaluru remained on top with superior ball possession early on but Blasters had Jeakson Singh almost create a favourable chance under two minutes itself.Ashique Kuruniyan’s pace kept former teammate Harmanjot Singh Khabra on check with Iman Basafa looking settled in dictating play from the centre of the pitch. However, it was a battle of tactics with Indian youngsters making for good viewing. Vincy Barretto and Ashique were involved in an intense tussle on the wings. Bengaluru deployed the idea of stretching the game wide with Sunil Chhetri repeatedly threading the ball onto the flanks for Ashique and Udanta bombing […]

Interestingly, this is the first time Odisha FC has beaten the Blues in the ISL.It was Javi Hernandez (3′, 51′) who led the charge for Odisha with a brace. While he rode some luck for his first goal, the second was nothing short of breathtaking from just outside the box. Bengaluru left Cleiton Silva on the bench while young Roshan Singh was given a runout at right back. Hyderabad, whose average age of its Indian players in the lineup was just 24, was dealt a major blow early on with Halicharan Narzary limping off in under 10 minutes. That did not deter their resolve to stamp their impression as former ATK Mohun Bagan man Edu Garcia’s shot was cleared away in a hurry but Bartholomew Ogbeche could not follow through.Chennaiyin had goalkeeper Vishal Kaith to thank for keeping the former champions in the game. The Himachal Pradesh-born was tested a few times but he emerged unscathed.Hyderabad were in fact wasteful in the opportunities the brittle Chennaiyin defence gave them.
