Tawang (Arunachal Pradesh) [India]: An ex-Indo-Tibetan Boundary Cops (ITBP) jawan Tashi Dhundup who was witness to the 1962 India-China war said that the Chinese army stayed in the Tawang sector for 2 months after that.
” The Chinese army employees stayed in the Tawang market area for about 2 months and also I have a great deal of memories of the 1962 battle,” stated Tashi Dhundup while talking with ANI.
Tashi Dhundup is a local resident of Kangting village, about 25 km from Tawang and also was just about 16 years of ages when he joined the ITBP.
He said that prior to 1962 the scenario was very peaceful but in the future Indian soldiers began reaching below.
Analysing the existing situation, Tashi Dhundup claimed, “Scenario has actually completely changed and the army is doing a great job, it’s not 1962 anymore and also the Chinese will not be able to go across the border.”
He included that the Indian Support system is actually solid in today’s time.
” We aided the Indian safety and security personnel throughout the war. We have lots of memories of the 1962 war,” Tashi Dhundup claimed.
Tashi joined ITBP in 1965 December and retired in 1989 December.
