Director Shoojit Sircar whose latest film ‘Sardar Udham’ won appreciation from one and all will deliver the prestigious Satyajit Ray Memorial Lecture at the 27 th Kolkata International Film Festival starting on January 7. Incidentally, at the 26 th edition of KIFF it was critically acclaimed filmmaker Anubhav Sinha who delivered the Satyajit Ray Memorial Lecture.

Also, his much-appreciated ‘Sardar Udham’, starring Vicky Kaushal, will also be screened as part of the Special Screening segment alongside Aparna Sen’s ‘The Rapist’, Raj Chakraborty’s ‘Dharmajuddha’ and others.

Shoojit received immense praise for his film of Udham Singh. During a recent interview, the ace director also said he now feels empty after the super success of ‘Sardar Udham’. “Now suddenly after the movie is over, I feel like I don’t know what to do. There is an emptiness that creeps in. It’s like there was a little storm which has now blown over, and now we don’t know what to do,” he said.

Meanwhile, according to sources, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi might grace the screening of the inauguration film at the 27 th KIFF. Since it is Satyajit Ray’s birth centenary year the Kolkata International Film Festival organizers are all geared up to make this edition a Satyajit Ray tributary one.
