Sharan: ‘If My Character Is Something I Haven’t Attempted Before Then I Get Interested’

Sharan has been one of the busiest actors around for quite some time. Having successfully transitioned from being a comedian to a leading man, Sharan has etched a unique career for himself and has been only growing in stature in the course. Today, he warrants an opportunity with the best in business and is working on multiple exciting projects, as we speak. Be it the two-part ‘Avatara Purusha’ along with Suni and producer Pushkar Mallikarjunaiah or his home-production of ‘Guru Shishyaru’, there’s so much to look forward to for Sharan’s fans.

But is there a way he goes about picking projects wherein he is careful about the subject he chooses? What factors does he count in? Sharan himself asserts that most of it is left to his instincts and also the novelty factor. He would look something unique in each script and attempt a role that he hasn’t before.

“I mainly look at my character and if it is something I haven’t attempted before, then I get interested. Like in ‘Victory 2’, I play four different guys in the same story, ‘Raambo 2’ sees me in diverse shades – so, that’s the kind of stuff I am interested in. The character has to be different, vibrant, and very entertaining – if these things fall in place, I say yes,” shares Sharan.

While he continues to lure interesting scripts, there’s also effort going into developing interesting content on his own end. With the filmmaker as his close ally, the duo has managed to curate a number of scripts that have proven to be commercially quite viable. Tharun has been a solid creative partner to Sharan with the former leading from the front in the development of scripts.

“Tharun has always known how to mount a particular project. He has himself written a number of my films – from ‘Rambo’ to ‘Victory 2’ – and also remained a creative head, of sorts, along with me. ‘Guru Shishyaru’ was developed during the previous lockdown and we are happy with the way the film is coming about,” adds Sharan. The first installment of ‘Avatara Purusha’, titled ‘Ashtadigbandhana Mandalaka’, is ready for release and one can expect the makers to reveal the exact at the earliest. On the other hand, the team of ‘Guru Shishyaru’ is about to enter the final schedule of production soon – the film is being directed by Jadeesha K. Hampi (of ‘Gentleman’ fame) and Nishvika plays the female lead.
