Kolkata: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday virtually flagged off metro services on the Joka-Taratala route in the western part of Kolkata.
The 6 city stations from Joka to Taratala were decked up with blossoms, balloons and streamers on the celebration. Besides, an all new rake that was used for the inaugural run was likewise embellished.
In his online address after the launch, the PM claimed, “The Joka-Taratala metro train solutions will make sure convenience of living for citizens of Kolkata. Deal with the rest of the path till Esplanade is underway.” The 6.5-km city stretch will be extended to Esplanade in central Kolkata, connecting the east-west as well as north-south lines of the city.
