    New Delhi [India]: Commemorating 50 years of friendship between India and Bangladesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that he is looking forward to continuing working with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to further expand and deepen our ties.“Today India and Bangladesh commemorate Maitri Diwas. We jointly recall and celebrate the foundations of our 50 years of friendship. I look forward to continue working with H.E. PM Sheikh Hasina to further expand and deepen our ties,” PM Modi tweeted. During PM Modi’s Bangladesh visit in March 2021 to attend the national day of Bangladesh, it was decided to commemorate December 6 as Maitri Diwas (Friendship Day), according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) release.Ten days before the liberation of Bangladesh, India had recognised Bangladesh on December 06, 1971. India was one of the first countries to establish bilateral diplomatic ties with Bangladesh, MEA said.The Maitri Diwas is being commemorated in 18 countries around the world apart from in Dhaka and Delhi. These countries are Belgium, Canada, Egypt, Indonesia, Russia, Qatar, Singapore, UK, Australia, France, Japan, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Switzerland, Thailand, UAE and USA.The holding of Maitri Diwas is a reflection of the deep and abiding friendship between the peoples of India and Bangladesh that has been forged in blood and shared sacrifices.

    New Delhi [India]: President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday paid floral tribute to Dr BR Ambedkar on his 65th death anniversary which is observed as “Mahaparinirvan Diwas”. Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge and other parliamentarians paid tribute to the architect of the Constitution at his statue in the Parliament premises today.Born on April 14, 1891, Babasaheb Ambedkar was an Indian jurist, economist, politician and social reformer who campaigned against social discrimination towards the untouchables (Dalits) and supported the rights of women and workers. He died on December 6, 1956. In 1990, Ambedkar was conferred with the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award. (ANI)

    Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India]: Educational institutions will remain closed in Dehradun and Section 144 of CrPC will be effective on Saturday and on Saturday in view of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit today, District Magistrate informed. “In view of the proposed tour program of PM Modi in the district on December 4 and public meeting at Parade Ground, instructions have been given to keep all government and private educational institutions completely closed near 500 m of Parade Ground,” said the district magistrate, Dr R Rajesh Kumar.“Section 144 CrPC will be effective from 2 pm on December 3 to 4 pm on December 4, within a radius of 1 Km of the Parade Ground. Instructions have also been given to hotels/lodges/Dharamshala to share information of persons, tenants, servants staying in their premises,” he added. PM Modi is slated to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of multiple projects worth around Rs 18,000 crore in Dehradun. Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of eleven development projects. This includes the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor (from Eastern Peripheral Expressway Junction to Dehradun) which will be built at a cost of around Rs 8300 crore. It will significantly reduce the travel time from Delhi to Dehradun from six hours to around 2.5 hours.     New Delhi [India] : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation in the 83rd episode of his monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on Sunday.This will be the second last edition of the year. “Mann ki Baat” is the Prime Minister’s monthly radio address, which is broadcast on the last Sunday of every month.     New Delhi [India]: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday chaired a meeting on the situation relating to COVID-19 and vaccination with top officials.Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan, Principal Secretary to PM Modi, PK Mishra and NITI Aayog member (health) Dr VK Paul among others attended the meeting. India reported 8,318 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, informed the Health Ministry.As many as 465 people succumbed to the COIVD-19 infection in the country in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 4,67,933.With 10,967 fresh recoveries, the total recoveries stand at 3,39,88,797. The recovery rate is currently at 98.34 per cent, which is the highest since March 2020.The active case accounts for less than 1 per cent of total cases, currently at 0.31 per cent, lowest since March 2020, at 1,07,019.Amid rising concern about a new COVID-19 variant ‘Omicron’ first detected in South Africa, India also added several countries to the list from where travellers would need to follow additional measures on arrival in India, including post-arrival testing for infection.The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare adds Hong Kong and Israel to the list of countries from where travellers would need to follow additional measures on arrival in India, including post-arrival testing considering the detection of new COVID variant ‘Omicron’ in South Africa.

It will create employment opportunities for more than 1 lakh people.     New Delhi [India]: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of the Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh on Thursday at 1 pm.The development of the first phase of the airport is being done at a cost of over Rs 10,050 crore.     New Delhi [India]: The Government of India decided to extend the ‘PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana’ to provide free ration till March 2022, informed Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur on Wednesday.Addressing media here, Thakur said that in the Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, “It has been decided to extend the ‘PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana’ to provide free ration till March 2022.” Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) is a food security welfare scheme that was envisaged by the Prime Minister to provide assistance and help mitigate the economic impact of COVID-19.Under PMGKAY, 5 Kilogram of additional food grain, per person, is given to all beneficiaries covered under National Food Security Act.
