‘Concerned of callousness’

Patna: Concerned with the negligent attitude of the people towards using masks to protect themselves from the Coronavirus, former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and BJP Rajya Sabha MP Sushil Kumar Modi on Tuesday said that the government was prepared to combat the third wave of the pandemic but the callousness of the people remains a matter of grave concern.

Appealing to the people not to be casual towards the Coronavirus infection as the specialist doctors and Institutions like AIIMS and RIMS have expressed the possibility of the third wave of the pandemic, Mr Modi said here today that people were seen moving at various places including market and tourist spots without even using face masks and without maintaining social distance.

Expressing his concern, Mr Modi said that more than 50 pc of new cases were being detected in states like Kerala and Maharashtra and in such a situation the people everywhere should strictly follow the guidelines of Covid-19. The BJP MP reiterated that there was no dearth of vaccines as its production was continuously increasing.

He said that the production of Sputnik V would be 30 crores every month from September while it would be 16 to 18 crores in August.

Those interested in getting Sputnik V will not have to face any scarcity of the vaccine.
Accordingly, extra emphasis on kids during the possible third wave would be given.

Regarding the centre’s Rs 23000 crore relief package, he said that out of this ICU beds, medical oxygen tanks and 8800 new ambulances were being arranged. He however maintained that in case the people do not follow the Covid-19 guidelines it will have far-reaching consequences.
