P Jayachandran Bags J C Daniel Award

Veteran Malayalam playback singer P Jayachandran bags J C Daniel award for 2020 for his immense and praiseworthy contributions to the Malayalam film music industry given by Kerala State Chalachitra Academy.

P Jayachandran will receive a citation and a plaque along with a cash amount of Rs 5 Lakh and the award will be presented by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on December 23 during the function which is planned to be held at the Secretariat Durbar Hall. The playback singer P Jayachandran is the 28th person to grab the J C Daniel award which is said to be the highest film award in Kerala.

Actor Manoj K Jayan took to his Instagram handle and posted a picture with P Jayachandran appreciating his win.

P Jayachandran, having made his debut in the Malayalam film industry with the song ‘Oru Mullappoomalayumay’ which was composed by P Bhaskaran, has lent his voice for over 15,000 songs and he is fondly known as ‘Bhava Gayakan’ among the Malayali audience. The last time P Jayachandran bagged the national award for the best singer in the year 1986 and he was honored with the state award five times. Award-winning director Adoor Gopalakrishnan helms the chairman position of the award jury committee and the judging panel consisted of the acclaimed director Renji Panicker, actor Seema, Chalachitra Academy chairman Kamal, Principal secretary (Culture section) Rani George, etc.
