Mumbai: Benchmark stock indices Nifty and Sensex closed higher for second straight day on Tuesday on gains in IT, banking and metal shares adhering to a firm trend in the worldwide markets.
The 30-share BSE Sensex leapt 361.01 points or 0.60 per cent to work out at 60,927.43. Throughout the day, it rallied 420.26 factors or 0.69 per cent to 60,986.68.
The broader NSE Nifty climbed 117.70 factors or 0.65 percent to finish at 18,132.30.
