Kolkata Police busted two fake call centres and arrested 19 accused persons

Kolkata: The cybercrime branch of Kolkata Police has busted a fake call centre at Sector V, the hub of IT and ITEs, and rounded up some 14 accused persons from their workplace.
The arrest of the fourteen accused persons from Sector V on Friday happened only a few days after the Police had arrested another five persons for running an illegal call centre at Tiljala, in the eastern part of the city.
During the investigation, police came to know the Tiljala centre had duped many US-based clients.
Police so far arrested 19 accused persons for running the two fake call centres in the city.
Police said most of the accused are the residents of Tiljala,
Embalpore, Southport, Maheshtala and Karaya in and around the city.
The busting of fake call centres happened after the arrest of one Amir Mehendi from Tiljala and Shahnazwaz Siddiqui, the latter was allegedly involved in the Ekbalpore, south Kolkata, shootout recently.
