J&K Sports Council to impart training to 15 spikers from rural belt

Jammu, Jul 21 : Aimed at flourishing sports and games at the village level, Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council will impart training to 15 spikers selected during a day-long volleyball tournament organized at village Birpur in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Divisional Sports Officer, J&K Sports Council, Jammu Wing, Ashok Singh, who supervised the tournament, said that a volleyball tournament was organized among four teams at village Birpur on Wednesday to take sports culture at village level.
Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council in collaboration Maharaja Pratap Singh Sports Club Birpur organised the competition, said the official.
He said that in total four matches were played between Rama Youth Volleyball Club, Dhrona Tiger Volleyball Club, Maharaja Pratap Singh Sports Club Birpur and Kundanapu Volleyball Club.
The final match was won by Rama Youth Club, Kaharamadana by defeating Maharaja Partap Singh Volleyball Club, Birpur by 3-2 sets.
Former MLC Vikram Randhawa with Sarpanch Anil Kumar Sharma inaugurated the tournament.
“Sports Council is doing all efforts to educate village youth in the sports field and during the tournament, 15 spikers were selected from participating clubs and are invited at Maulana Azad Stadium for professional coaching under the guidance of sports council coaches, trainers,” he said.
