Jakarta: Indonesia on Tuesday recorded 47,899 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, marking the highest daily spike and bringing the total tally to 2,615,529, the Health Ministry said.
The ministry also reported that the COVID-19-related death toll added by 864 to 68,219.
An additional 20,123 recovered patients were discharged from hospitals, raising the total number of recoveries from the pandemic in the Southeast Asian country to 2,139,601.
The virus has spread to all the country’s 34 provinces.
Specifically, in the past 24 hours, Jakarta recorded 12,182 new cases, West Java 7,192, East Java 6,269, Banten 4,016 and Central Java 3,270.
