New Delhi, Aug 11: India recorded 38,353 new cases of COVID-19 during the past 24 hours post which the overall tally has spiked to 3,20,36,511, while the death toll mounted to 4,29,179 with 497 more fatalities, the Union Health Ministry said on Wednesday.
According to the Ministry, the active cases declined by 2,157, to stand at 3,86,351. It is now 1.21 per cent of the total caseload.
The past 24 hours saw 40,013 people recovering from the deadly virus, taking the total recovery count to 3,12,20,981, which is 97.45 per cent of the case tally. The fatality rate stood at 1.34 per cent.
Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that a total of 48,50,56,507 samples have been tested so far for coronavirus. Of this, 17,77,962 were tested on Tuesday.
Till now, 51,90,80,524 people have been administered COVID-19 vaccines, with 41,38,646 being inoculated against the virus in the past 24 hours.
