Four drug peddlers arrested in Kashmir

Srinagar, Aug 7: Four drug peddlers were arrested and huge quantity of contraband substance was seized in Budgam and Bandipora districts, a police spokesman said on Saturday.
He said a checkpoint was established by police at Sholipora Budgam in central Kashmir during which a truck was intercepted. Three persons travelling in the truck tried to flee but were apprehended tactfully by alert naka party at a distance.
The arrested have been identified as Ghulam Nabi Dar resident of Gulistan Baramulla, Mohammad Sultan Bhat and Abdul Hameed Dar both residents of Sholipora Budgam.
During checking, 103kgs of poppy straw was recovered from modified hidden chambers lying in the base of the body of the vehicle.
He said in Bandipora, a police party from police Station Sumbal under the supervision of SDPO Sumbal Surinder Mohan established a check point at Rakh-e-Shilwat.
A person identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Malla resident of Rakh-e-Shilwat Sumbal was intercepted and during checking, police recovered 24 grams of Charas from his possession.
