“Fight together against BJP”

Panaji (Goa) [India] : West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee on Saturday c all regional parties in Goa to come together in order to avoid division of votes.
Mamata Banerjee said after meeting Goa Forward Party (GFP) president Vijai Sardesai on Saturday. On being asked whether Vijai Sardesai’s Goa Forward Party will merge with TMC to fight polls, she said, ” We discussed the matter that let’s walk together to fight against BJP. So it’s their decision to decide. We want to avoid division of votes. So want regional parties that can walk together to fight against BJP,” said Banerjee on meeting with Sardesai.
Meanwhile, Sardesai called Mamata as a symbol of regional pride and said GFP is also a regional party.
“Mamata Banerjee is a symbol of regional pride, we’re also a regional party. We welcome her recent statement that like-minded parties should come together to fight against BJP. I met with her today and we will discuss that in our party,” said Sardesai.
Before meeting the TMC chief, Sardesai had said opposition unity is critical so that the corrupt and communal regime of the BJP can be put to an end.
Banerjee is on a visit to Goa as her party seeks to branch out into new states.
Goa Assembly has a strength of 40 members, out of which BJP currently has 17 legislators and enjoys the support of legislators from Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), Vijay Sardesai of the Goa Forward Party (GFP) and three independents. GFP and MGP each have three MLAs.
Congress, on the other hand, has 15 MLAs in the house.

Mamata visits Mapusa market, Basilica of Bom Jesus

Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee on Saturday visited Mapusa market and Basilica of Bom Jesus in Goa during her maiden visit to the state.
Earlier on Friday, the West Bengal Chief Minister had visited a fish market and three temples. She also inducted former tennis star Leander Paes, actor Nafisa Ali and several others into the party. On October 24, 300 people joined the TMC in three different events that took place in the Panaji, Navelim and Sanguem area of Goa, as per the press note released by the party
Earlier, former Goa Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Luizinho Faleiro had joined TMC on September 29.


The developments come ahead of Assembly polls in Goa scheduled to be held early next year.
Goa Assembly has a strength of 40 members out of which BJP currently has 17 legislators and enjoys the support of legislators from Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), Vijay Sardesai of the Goa Forward Party (GFP) and three independents. GFP and MGP each have three MLAs.
Congress, on the other hand, has 15 MLAs in the house.

Mamata Banerjee slams BJP over rising inflation

Hitting out at the Centre over the increasing inflation, Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee on Saturday said that they instead of bringing “Ache Din” are finishing this country.
“Inflation is high. LPG, diesel-petrol prices have increased. Businesses affected due to GST, exports down but BJP is not serious to solve these issues. They said will bring ‘Ache Din’ but they are finishing this country,” said the TMC chief. West Bengal Chief Minister met Goa Forward Party president Vijai Sardesai today in Goa and discussed the matter to “walk together” to fight against the BJP.

Tiatrist Francis De Tuem joins TMC ahead of 2022 Goa Assembly polls

Panaji (Goa) [India] : Ahead of the 2022 Goa Assembly elections, well-known tiatrist and singer Francis De Tuem on Saturday officially joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in the presence of West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee in Dona Paula, Goa.
Francis is known for his political satire recited over songs in Konkani for the past 20 years. His recent songs ‘Yes Boss CM’ and Modik Talao (Chalan to Modi) were hugely popular given the way he criticised the BJP government for multiple failures.

After joining the TMC family, Francis De Tuem said, ‘Mamata Didi will never bow down before the BJP. Under her guidance, Goa will have a stable government unlike what has happened earlier. I’m impressed with the way she has done many things for artists in West Bengal and I hope to work for the upliftment of artists here in Goa.’
