Ritabhari Chakraborty is on cloud nine after having represented Bengal at the inaugural ceremony of IFFI this year. “I truly believe Bengal deserves to be at the centre of limelight. I performed on a national stage to a set that featured all Bengali songs – I think that is a powerful statement in itself. Out of all the experiences, one that Ritabhari says will stay with her forever is the brush with Salman. “The red carpet will always remain very special because I got to meet Salman Khan during the photoshoot. Such a gentleman he is! I vacated the photoshoot floor for him and he thanked me for it after he wrapped up. I also wanted to take a photo with him and he patiently waited till my manager clicked one on her phone. I was awestruck by his humility – he is so grounded despite being a superstar. His performance was electrifying too,” said Ritabhari.

A Kolkata court has ruled that the controversial wedding of Nikhil Jain and Nusrat Jahan is not valid. The court declared it wasn’t a legal wedding between the estranged couple. Earlier in June this year, actor-politician Nusrat Jahan had released a shocking statement claiming that her marriage with Nikhil Jain happened according to Turkish law and that’s why it isn’t valid in India. She also alleged that her family jewelry and some other assets were ‘illegally held back’ by Nikhil. She even claimed that her “funds were mishandled” from several accounts without her permission. Stating Nusrat Jahan and Nikhil Jain’s wedding as an invalid one, a Kolkata court on Wednesday said, “It is declared that the alleged marriage held on 19/06/2019 at Bodrum, Turkey in between the plaintiff and the defendant is not legally valid. The suit is, thus, disposed off on admission.” Incidentally, Nikhil Jain had already filed for an annulment. After Nusrat Jahan announced their marriage invalid in India, Nikhil had claimed that he repeatedly urged Nusrat to get the marriage registered, but she didn’t do it. Earlier, Nikhil had also revealed that have been separated since November last year. Nusrat Jahan got married to Nikhil Jain on June 19, 2019, after dating for some time. Their marriage was an intimate ceremony in Turkey and they later hosted a wedding reception in Kolkata. Right now, Nusrat is in a relationship with actor Yash Dasgupta. • Paran Bandopadhyay: ‘Soumitra Chattopadhyay Still Will Be A Significant Figure’
It has been 12 months since we lost Soumitra Chattopadhyay, the man who used to straddle Bengali cinema just like a colossus from 1959. Soumitra had entered the world of cinema with Satyajit Ray’s ‘Apur Sansar’ and their journey continued with 13 more films. However, many believe his stint with Ray films had actually overshadowed his equally brilliant works with other iconic filmmakers such as Tapan Sinha, Asit Sen, Ajoy Kar, Mrinal Sen and Tarun Mazumder to name a few. Interestingly, Soumitra Chattopadhyay had always believed that he became a household name because of the success of his works with other directors. Veteran actor Paran Bandopadhyay who knew the thespian closely feels the same. “His second film after ‘Apur Sansar’ was also a super hit. Soumitra Chattopadhyay worked with so many directors, like Tarun Mazumdar (‘Ektuku Basa’, ‘Sansar Simante’, ‘Ganadevata’), Harisadhan Dasgupta (‘Eki Onge Eto Rup’), Ajoy Kar (‘Saat Pake Bandha’, ‘Malyadan’), Nityananda Datta (‘Baksha Badal’), Mrinal Sen (‘Akash Kusum’ and ‘Mahaprithibi’), Inder Sen (‘Pratham Kadam Phul’), Salil Datta (‘Stree’ and ‘Aparichita’), Saroj Dey (‘Koni’), O C Ganguly (‘Kinu Goalar Goli’), Asit Sen (‘Swaralipi’) and Ashutosh Bandopadhyay (‘Teen Bhubaner Pare’) to name a few. The list is huge. I can’t mention each and every film. The fact is there were even some directors who had no problem with Soumitra prioritizing Ray’s films over theirs. I think if he wasn’t introduced to the world of Satyajit Ray films, Soumitra Chattopadhyay still will be a significant figure with his […]
  • Adolina Chakrabarty: ‘I’ll Continue To Balance My Studies & Acting’
Role play: I loved playing Pakhi in Baba Yadav’s yet-untitled film, starring Ankush and Subhashree. Though Pakhi is a ghost, she is just like me in real life. She loves to play games, listen to music, pull pranks on others and loves her family. Both of us are avid pet lovers too. Acting is my passion and I love being in front of the camera. I’ll continue to balance my studies and acting. Studies matter: My parents have taught me that there can’t be any alternative to studies and hence, I take it very seriously. I plan my shooting schedule in a way that doesn’t require me to miss my classes. I attend my online classes between the shots. My favourite subject is mathematics. Health is priority: This pandemic has taught us that health is wealth. So, I make sure to eat healthily and maintain a good lifestyle. I have a balanced diet, drink lots of water and sleep for at least eight hours daily. I carry homemade food to the sets to avoid eating outside and daily exercise is a must for me.
