London: England Test captain Ben Stokes has hit out at the International Cricket Council (ICC) for not paying sufficient attention to scheduling, adding that the rising appeal of domestic T20 leagues across the world is threatening the presence of the longest format of the sport.
Stokes, that led his side to a 3-0 Test whitewash of Pakistan recently, added that the way Test cricket was being taken care of and also spoken about these days, especially in the background of the growing popularity of league cricket, was injuring him.
“The organizing doesn’t get adequate focus that it should. A great example is England’s one-day collection against Australia after the T20 World Mug. That was shoving three matches in there. It made good sense to somebody to schedule a series which suggested absolutely nothing,” claimed Stokes in a communication with the fabulous Ian Botham on BBC on Monday.
