Renowned TV anchor Dayyana Hameed, who hosts shows like Star Magic and Funs Upon a Time, will be playing a contemporary dancer’s character in director Joshiy’s upcoming Suresh Gopi movie Paappan.
Dayyana, who has previously done films like The Gambler and Yuvvam, reveals her character in the film has the stage name Cleopatra. “I am not a trained dancer, but I used to perform in school and college. It’s the production controller of my first film who referred me to Joshiy sir’s team for Paappan. I was asked to send a few videos, and I did. But, they weren’t of me performing contemporary numbers. However, they were ok with it and just asked whether I can handle contemporary moves. I said yes, and was roped in for the role,” says Dayyana, who was choreographed by Prasanna Master, for her performance sequence. “He was extremely supportive and motivating and so, it was a great experience,” she remembers. Dayyana’s scenes in the film are mostly with actor Chandunath, who is also playing a performing artiste in the film.
The actress, who has been a popular face on TV since 2013, also has her Tamil debut coming up, with actor Vetri. “The film is titled Memories and I play a doctor named Janaki in it. It’s directed by Shyam and Praveen,” says the artiste, who will also be seen in Sunny Leone starrer-Shero, social drama Station 5, director Rajeesh’s Superstar Kalyani in which she plays the title role and the anthology Thrayam, in which she is again sharing screen with Chandunath, as his wife.
Her music video Doore has also just been released, and it has her sharing screen with Aadu fame actor Harikrishnan. The video has K S Harisankar and Nithya Mammen as singers and is directed by Abhilash R Nair.
