Coronavirus Pandemic: Know what Supreme Court told govt on lockdown

The Supreme Court order in a self-cognizance case regarding Covid-19 said that the central and state governments should consider stopping the second coronavirus wave and  impose a lockdown in public interest. The court has also said in its order that in the event of lockdown, special care should be taken of the people of the society who are poor or who do not have proper means to live and eat. Significantly, taking suo motu cognizance of the worsening situation of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country, the Supreme Court reserved the verdict after hearing on April 30. Income Tax Compliance Deadlines Extended Amid New COVID-19 Wave

n order to provide relief to taxpayers amid the second wave of COVID-19 in the country, the government has extended various Income Tax compliance deadlines, under the Income Tax Act 1961. In a circular issued on Saturday, May 1, the Central Board of Direct Taxes or CBDT, stated that under its powers under Section 119 of the Income-tax Act, 1961, the organisation has provided certain relaxations with respect to Income-Tax compliances by taxpayers.
