Late Thummala Narsimha Reddy, popularly known as TNR also acted in few Telugu films as a character artist. He had worked as an assistant to writer and actor L.B. Sriram. States, UTs to get 46 lakh more vax doses in 3 days: Health Ministry

The Central government has so far provided more than 17,56,20,810 vaccine doses to States and Union Territories (UTs) “free of cost”, and has planned to provide additional over 46 lakh doses within next three days. A total of 46,61,960 Covid vaccine doses will be received in addition by the States and UTs within the next 3 days, Union Health Ministry said on Sunday. Of the over 17 crore vaccines so far delivered to the States and the UTs, the total consumption including wastages is 16,83,78,796 doses, according to the official data made available at 8 a.m. on Sunday. More than 72 lakh Covid vaccine doses (72,42,014) are still available with the States and UTs to be administered. Ten states account for over 71 per cent of new COVID-19 cases

Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Delhi are among 10 states that account for 71.75 percent of the 4,03,738 new COVID-19 cases registered in a day, the Union Health Ministry said on Sunday. The other states in the list of 10 are Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan, and Haryana. Maharashtra has reported the highest daily new cases at 56,578. It is followed by Karnataka with 47,563 while Kerala reported 41,971 new cases A total of more than 30.22 crore tests have been conducted so far across the country while the daily COVID-19 positivity rate stands at 21.64 percent, the ministry said. SC asks Centre to fulfill Delhi’s Oxygen demand by midnight

The Supreme Court has directed the Union government to make Delhi’s oxygen demand meet by the midnight of May 3. The order came hours after as many as five hospitals sent SOS messages regarding their decreasing Oxygen stock.  The Apex court also directed the centre to work with state governments to create a buffer stock of oxygen to be used for emergency purposes, and decentralise locations of these reserves. The court also kept a note of details regarding allocations, demand, projected demand, and actual daily dispatches of liquid medical oxygen and said it “accepts the submissions” by the solicitor general to ensure the national capital is supplied with oxygen adequately as per its “projected demands.” “We accept his submission and direct compliance within 2 days from the date of the hearing, that is, on or before midnight of 3 May 2021,” the order said.
