Priyanka contests Mamata Banerjee

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded advocate Priyanka Tibrewal against West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee from Bhabanipur Assembly seat. CM Banerjee needs to win in order to hold on to her office. As per the Election Commission’s schedule, polling will take place on September 30 while results will be announced on October 4

Kolkata , west Bengal, India, September 10 : Priyanka, 40, a lawyer by profession, is known to be behind the BJP’s victory in the post-poll violence PIL against the West Bengal government. The Calcutta High Court recently ordered a CBI probe into crimes such as rape and murder during post-poll violence in the state. She played a crucial role in the recent post-poll violence incidents in WB and has took the cause to the High Court at Calcutta to seek justice for the murder of Abhijeet Sarkar.

Priyanka has held various roles in the BJP. She has been the State Officer Bearer for the party. Priyanka completed English Honors from the University of Delhi and law from the University of Calcutta, Priyanka Tibrewal embarked her journey as an industrious advocate in the High Court of Calcutta and the Supreme Court of India.

She also holds a Master of Business Administration from Assumption University, Thailand. Priyanka Tibrewal is a versatile advocate handling wide variety of cases ranging from defending victims of atrocities of State Government, such as in the Raniganj riot case or the Purolia murder case, and has always stood up for the cause of justice and liberty.

She played a crucial role in the recent post poll violence incidents in West Bengal and has took the cause to the High Court at Calcutta to seek justice for the murder of Abhijeet Sarkar. Due to her stoic endurance against all odds, Priyanka Tibrewal has been successful to initiate investigation by Central Bureau of India and also constitution of a Special Investigation Team for investigating the post poll violence in West Bengal.
