Tamil Nadu: All school students between 15 to 18 years vaccinated with first COVID-19 dose

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], (ANI): Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian on Monday said the state has vaccinated all school students aged between 15-18 years with the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. “100 per cent of school students between 15 to 18 years in Tamil Nadu have been inoculated with the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine,” Subramanian said while addressing reporters.COVID-19 vaccination for the 15-18 age group began on January 3 across the country. On Sunday, the Tamil Nadu government had informed that schools have been shut in for all classes, due to an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in the state. “The exams which were supposed to be held on January 19 are now postponed,” informed the order copy. Punjab Assembly poll postponed, voting on February 20

New Delhi [India]: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has decided to postpone the voting dates for the Punjab Assembly election to February 20. Earlier, the State was scheduled to go for polls on February 14. New Delhi [India]: India reported 2,64,202 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours with a positivity rate of 14.78 per cent, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed on Friday. Maharashtra reports 44,388 new COVID-19 cases, 12 deaths

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India](ANI): As many as 44,388 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Maharashtra during the last 24 hours, as per the state health department on Sunday. The active cases currently stand at 2,02,259 in the state.During the last 24 hours, 15,351 people recovered from the infection, taking the total recoveries in the state to 65,72,432. The recovery rate in the state is 94.98 per cent. As many as 12 people succumbed to the deadly virus in the state during the last 24 hours. The case fatality rate stands at 2.04 per cent. New Delhi [India]: Ahead of the Budget Session of the Parliament, more than 400 Parliament staff members were tested positive for COVID-19, according to official sources. 138 Omicron cases at Delhi’s LNJP Hospital in one month, 95 pc recovered

Tokyo [Japan]: The Japanese government has said it is not planning to send Cabinet ministers and other senior officials to the 2022 Beijing Olympics. Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India]: Nalini Sriharan, one of the convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, will be released on one-month parole on Friday after completing surety formalities, said Nalini’s advocate Radhakrishnan. Speaking to ANI, Radhakrishnan said, “Nalini, who was granted by the state government on Thursday, will be released on Friday after completing surety formalities.”The Tamil Nadu government on Thursday had informed the Madras High Court that Nalini was granted a month’s parole by the government after repeated requests from her ailing mother Padma. Nalini and six other people were sentenced to life imprisonment in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. In May 1991, Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated by a Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) suicide bomber during an election rally in Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu. UK to offer COVID-19 Pfizer shots to at-risk children aged 5-11

London [UK]: The UK Health Security Agency allowed on Wednesday the use of smaller doses of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccines in children aged 5 to 11 who are at a higher risk from COVID-19. “Children aged 5 to 11, who are in a clinical risk group or who are a household contact of someone (of any age) who is immunosuppressed, should be offered a primary course of vaccination,” it said.The regulator said a third of the adult dose will be administered twice with an interval of eight weeks. COVID-19: India reports 213 Omicron cases till now, Delhi tops list

New Delhi [India]: India reported 6,317 fresh COVID-19 cases and 318 deaths in the last 24 hours, informed the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday. The country’s active caseload currently stands at 78,190, the lowest in 575 days.According to the Ministry, 213 cases of Omicron variant of coronavirus have been reported in the country so far. Out of this, Delhi topped the list with 57 confirmed cases followed by Maharashtra (54 cases) and Telangana (24 cases). According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), the active cases in the country account for less than 1 per cent of total cases, currently at 0.22 per cent which is the lowest since March last year.
