It is hardly unexpected that Arvind, who is at his core a technologist, has put technology and the required ecosystem of partners at the center of the business strategy. IBM named Arvind Krishna as its next CEO. He has barely 30 years of experience at IBM. So this person is exceptional. As one of the most well-known organizations in America struggles to recover from years of decline, Arvind is the leader who enters the scene at a crucial stage. He would be asked to heal the scars that a new generation of tech titans have inflicted on Big Blue and to develop an essentially new line of business that can revive it.
IBM has undergone significant development during the past 30 years, evolving into a considerable force in cloud computing and artificial intelligence. Arvind Krishna was also advancing inside Big Blue during those years, eventually taking charge as CEO in January 2020.
Most recently, he supervised the $34 billion acquisition of software giant Red Hat, which was a success. Red Hat has engineering facilities in Bengaluru and Pune in India. Red Hat specializes in Linux operating systems. Dr. Krishna previously held the position of senior vice president of Cloud and Cognitive Software, where he helped establish the hybrid cloud business for the organization. In addition, he managed IBM Research, where he monitored innovation in both based and new technologies. He was also the head of IBM Research, where he promoted creation in both established and new fields, such as nanotechnology, quantum computing, blockchain, cloud platform services, and artificial intelligence.
For his pioneering work on blockchain, Arvind was chosen by Wired Magazine as “one of 25 geniuses who are defining the future of business” in 2016. Arvind Krishna, who was recently named CEO of IBM, the oldest technological business in the world, has joined the prominent group of Indian-American bosses in charge of the $1 trillion (approximately Rs. 71,40,000 crores) worth of enterprises in Silicon Valley. As someone who has elevated Indian talent, Krishna, 57, joined Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Adobe President and CEO Santanu Narayan, and Mastercard CEO Ajay Banga. Krishna, an IBM veteran who began working for the business 30 years ago, attended Stanes Higher Secondary School in Bedford, Coonoor.
From 1980 to 1985, he attended the Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur for his BE in electrical engineering. From 1986 to 1988, he attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for his Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering. Mr. Krishna has a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a bachelor’s degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IITK). He participates in the Business Roundtable and the Business Council, and he co-chairs the Global AI Action Alliance of the World Economic Forum.
Mr. Krishna has promoted lifelong learning at IBM and is the inspiration for the company’s goal of training 30 million people by 2030. He has contributed to science in various technological domains, worked as an editor and contributor to several scientific journals, and frequently appeared in business media. In addition, he founded IBM’s security software division with 15 patents.
He predicted that in the future, the hybrid cloud business might be worth a total of approximately $1.2 trillion in an interview with Business Insider. He anticipated the commercial release of quantum computers within this decade in an interview with CNN Money. He claimed that it was “no longer science fiction.” He called him “well-positioned” to steer the business into the cloud and cognitive eras and the “ideal CEO for the next era at IBM.”
Arvind has made it a priority to explain IBM’s plan and its worth to industry analysts, in contrast to previous IBM CEOs. He has a very open mind to criticism and is open to suggestions for how to go better. With a priority on hybrid cloud and AI, IBM is taking a better approach. Amazingly, it is the pioneer of quantum computing, the next significant advancement in computer technology. One of the few businesses with the ability to take on complex issues that necessitate years of perseverance to solve is IBM. In ten years, IBM has transformed quantum computing from science fiction to pure science. Finding another business with the same tenacity is challenging.
