Arun Roy’s ‘8/12’ Official Trailer Out

The trailer for Arun Roy’s upcoming film ‘8/12’ is out and it looks quite impressive. The trailer was launched at the installation of Bengal revolutionaries Binoy Basu, Badal Gupta and Dinesh Gupta at the BBD Bag.

91 years ago, the revolutionary trio, the bravehearts of Bengal, had stormed into the then Secretariat Building, (now Writers’ Building of Kolkata) to give a lesson to the British rulers and shot dead the infamous Lt Col NS Simpson.

Arun Roy’s period drama sees Kinjal Nanda, Arna Mukhopadhyay and Remo as Binoy, Badal and Dinesh respectively. Based on the historic attack and the incident of that particular day, ‘8/12’ also stars Saswata Chatterjee, Kharaj Mukherjee, Shankar Debnath, Debraj Mukherjee, Anushka Chakraborty and Gulshanara Khatun in pivotal roles.

Speaking about his film’s essence of patriotism, the director shared, “We achieved independence in exchange for the struggle and death of many young bloods. But, now we have almost forgotten about those sacrifices. The historic incident on 8 December 1930 will be revisited through this film. In the people will see glimpses of the narrative.”

Shot extensively in black-and-white, the trailer looks quite unique with the graphic portrayal of the tortures the British rulers had inflicted on Indians, and which saw the young freedom fighters starting revolutionary movements against the oppressors.
