Actor Siddharth Alleges Harassment At Airport: ‘They Talked To Us In Hindi …’

Actor Siddharth of Rang De Basanti’s reputation has said the security officials at the Madurai airport had recently harassed him, his dad, and his mom. He said no matter being asked to speak in English, they continued to talk with them in Hindi. He shared a photograph from the airport on his Instagram Stories and talked about his experience. He delivered that once they protested against them, they stated, “In India, this is how it is.”

Sharing the photo on his Instagram Stories, Siddharth wrote, “Harassed for 20 mins @ Madurai airport by CRPF. They made my senior parents remove coins from their bags! And repeatedly talked to us in Hindi after being told to speak in English.” He, by chance, tagged CRPF rather than CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) in the post.

Siddharth was seen in a web collection Escaype Live on Disney+ Hotstar this yr. It revolved around the dark facet of social media and also starred Jaaved Jaaferi.

Siddharth became part of the controversy in January when he was booked by the cybercrime wing of Hyderabad Police over his tweet against ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal. A case was registered under IPC Section 509 (phrase, gesture, or act supposed to insult the modesty of girls) and under applicable sections of the Information Technology Act, senior police respectably informed a news agency. He later issued a public apology, calling his remark an “impolite funny story” and admitted that he couldn’t “justify my tone and phrases.”

Siddharth had responded to Saina Nehwal’s tweet on PM Narendra Modi’s security breach in Punjab; however, his tweet drew plenty of flak for being ‘sexist’. The National Commission for Women (NCW) even requested Twitter India to “right away” block the actor’s account.

Siddharth has worked in numerous Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi films. He is thought for his role alongside Aamir Khan in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Rang De Basanti. He will now be visible in Kamal Haasan-starrer Indian 2.

The film also stars Nedumudi Venu, Sudeep, Gulshan Grover, Kajal Aggarwal and Rakul Preet Singh.
