Actor Kainakary Thankaraj Passes Away At 77

Popular theatre- film actor Kainakary Thankaraj breathed his last at his residence in Keralapuram on Sunday (April 3). He was 77. As per the reports, the actor was in treatment for liver-related issues for a long time. The funeral will be held on Monday at 9 am.

Hailing from Keralapuram, Kollam, Kainakary Thankaraj made his acting debut with the Prem Nazir starrer film ‘Aana Paachan’ which was released in the year 1978. The actor got wide recognition from the audience by playing the role of Vavachan in the film ‘Ee. Ma.Yau’.

Kainakary Thankaraj played prominent roles in over 35 films and some of his notable films include ‘Amen’, ‘Ee.Ma.Yau.’, ‘Iblis’, ‘Varikkuzhiyile Kolapathakam’, ‘Lucifer’, ‘Ishq’, ‘Orilathanalil’, and the recently released feel-good drama film ‘Home’. Kainakary Thankaraj was last seen in the Rojin Thomas directorial film ‘Home’ which was released in the year 2021 and was a humongous hit.

Being the son of the famous theatre artist Krishnankutty Bhagavathar, Kainakary Thankaraj has also played prominent roles in more than 10,000 plays and won the Best Theatre Actor award twice.

Several prominent actors from the Mollywood film industry such as Mohanlal and Mammootty extend their tribute to the ace actor Kainakary Thankaraj.
