462 students, 49 staff test COVID-19 positive in a month in Kangra

Kangra (Himachal Pradesh) [India] : In the last one month, 462 school students and 49 staff members have been tested positive for COVID-19 in the Kangra, informed Dr Gurdarshan Gupta, Chief Medical Officer, Kangra district.
Talking to ANI, the Chief Medical Officer said, “After the reopening of schools for selected classes from September 27, 462 school students and 49 staff members including teachers have been tested positive for COVID-19 in the district. It accounts for 25-30 per cent of the total positive cases during this period. We are worried about the increasing number of COVID-19 cases. We have to follow basic precautionary measures and people who are above the age of 18 should undergo vaccination, if not vaccinated yet.” Talking about the SOPs laid down by the Education Department, the Chief Medical Officer said, “If the cases of COVID-19 are higher within students and staff of a particular school, according to the SOPs, the school has to be closed for 48 hours, detailed contact tracing has to performed and the entire educational premises has to be disinfected.”
While informing about a long festive break for the students, he said, ” The festival break has been increased from five days to seven days by the Education department. The schools will remain closed from October 31 to November 7.”

Delhi reports 37 new COVID-19 cases

New Delhi [India] : Delhi reported 37 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours and there was no fatality in the city due to the disease.
According to the Delhi government health bulletin, the total count of coronavirus cases in the city has gone up to 14,39,788 and the active caseload in the city stands at 334. The case fatality rate in the national capital is 1.74 per cent and the positivity rate is 0.06 per cent.
With 48 more persons having recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, the total number of recoveries in the city has gone up to 14,39,788. The death toll stands at 25,091
A total number of 59,293 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in Delhi including 45,731 RT-PCR tests and 13,562 rapid antigen tests.
The bulletin said 2,93,11,912 COVID-19 tests have been conducted so far.
Beneficiaries vaccinated with 1st dose in last 24 hours stand at 20, 450 and cumulative beneficiaries vaccinated with 1st dose so far has reached 1,29,92,172.
The bulletin said that 34, 828 beneficiaries have been vaccinated with a second dose in the last 24 hours and the total number of those who have got the second dose stands at 73,25,519.

Assam reports 322 fresh COVID19 cases

Dispur (Assam) [India] : A total of 322 new COVID-19 cases and three deaths were recorded in Assam in the last 24 hours, said the state’s health department on Friday.
With new cases registered on Friday, the total case reported in the state touched 6,10,150 including 2,444 active cases. With 278 new recoveries, the total recoveries mounted to 6,00,367. The death toll is 5,992.
A total of 43,841 tests were conducted to detect the presence of the virus. So far, 2,46,57,174 tests have been conducted in Assam.
Of the deaths reported in the last 24 hours, two were in Kamrup and one was reported in Nalbari.
