Chennai, Aug 23: In a bid to achieve maximum coverage, the
Tamil Nadu government today launched 24 hour COVID vaccination
drive in all the government and district hospitals across the State.
It was launched by Health Minister Ma Subramanian in the city in the
presence of officials and it will be available in more than 50 hospitals
across the State.
In all 11 government medical college hospitals in the State will have
round-the-clock COVID-19 vaccination centres from Monday.
The vaccination centres started functioning in all government medical
college hospitals, and district government hospitals in districts that did
not have government medical colleges.
In Chennai, round-the-clock vaccination is being administered at the
Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, Government Medical College
Hospital at Omandurar Estate, Government Royapettah Hospital, Government
Stanley Medical College Hospital and Government Kilpauk Medical College
Hospital.
“Through this, the pace of vaccination will be faster and people can get
vaccinated easily in Chennai,” the Minister said.
The 24-hr vaccination drive will be beneficial to employed people and those
travelling within or outside the state.
The Minister said 100 per cent vaccination had been achieved in over
60 villages throughout the State, including in the tourist destination
of Kodaikanal.
